The Elder Scrolls Online v5.2.1 adds the New Life Festival for testing this week, in addition to several fixes for Dragons and Southern Elsweyr quests (including the last step of the main quest). We've also made a few fixes affecting abilities and item sets, fixed some bugs with the Activity Finder, and more. Please note as with previous PTS cycles, the majority of combat changes will be in next week's patch. The size of this patch is approximately 263MB.

New Features / Updates / Big Changes[edit]

New Life Festival

This week, the New Life Festival is available to test on the PTS! This event is largely the same as last year; to get started, simply track down Breda outside Windhelm to obtain the appropriately-named quest, "The New Life Festival", or find the starter quest directly from the Crown Store.

  • Once you complete Breda's requests, you'll have the opportunity to complete up to nine different daily quests, each themed for Tamriel's different races and located in their respective zones.
  • In addition, you can drink Breda's Magnificent Mead (located in the New Life Festival Pavilion) to gain a 100% Experience buff for two hours.
  • You'll also be able to acquire two Event Tickets by completing any New Life Festival daily quest, once per day.
  • This year, we've added a new set of Charity writs (Deep Winter Charity Writ) that drop in addition to last year's writs.
    • These new writs have a chance of coming from the New Life Festival Gift Box, obtained from completing the New Life daily quests.
    • Completing these writs rewards a Skaal Explorer's Bundle. The bundle awards one random, tradeable style page from the Skaal Explorer outfit style (with 17 total pages).

Template Updates[edit]

  • Elsweyr is now unlocked for PTS template characters.
  • Fixed an issue in which a tablet for the Hall of the Lunar Champion - Behold Khunzar-ri's Ambition - was not included in the Hall of the Lunar Champion Deeds in the character template.
  • Characters created with the PTS template now have the Vivec City wayshrine unlocked.

Monsters
  • Mountain Bristleback
    • Mountain Bristlebacks are now correctly immune to CC.
    • Reduced the baseline damage from Gore.
    • The damage from Gore now increases for each successful Gore against a stationary target.
    • Uproot no longer attempts to cast if it will fail to hit a target.
  • Glyptodon
    • Fixed an issue where the inside of the monster's shell was not textured correctly.

Exploration & Itemization[edit]

General

  • Fixed numerous issues with the Dragonguard Supply Chest, accessed through completely restoring the Dragonguard's headquarters.
  • Reward boxes from Southern Elsweyr will no longer have a level listed, because they don't actually have one.

Collectibles

  • The Khunzar-ri's Rest collectible can now be seen in your collections before you unlock it, as originally intended.
  • Added descriptions explaining how to acquire the Za'ji's Dragonguard Uniform, Mask of Alkosh, and Wall of Life Brush collectibles.

Housing[edit]

Homes

  • Fixed an issue where the aeonstone in the flooded crater of Potentate's Retreat could become invisible when repeatedly using the Aeonstone Formation collectible furnishing.
  • Updated the name of the maps for Potentate's Retreat to match the name of the home.
  • Updated the descriptions for Potentate's Retreat and Lucky Cat Landing.
  • Improved the precision of the collision for several walls and cliff faces in Potentate's Retreat.
  • Corrected some small areas of stretched textures in the interior of Potentate's Retreat.
  • Adjusted the ground inside the stone enclosures in the Lucky Cat Landing terrace to feel a little more natural.

Furnishings

  • Fixed an issue that prevented Elsweyr furnishings from dropping in Southern Elsweyr.
  • Updated the interact prompt for the Aeonstone Formation collectible furnishing to "Use" instead of "Activate".
  • Updated the housing editor categorization for the "Aeonstone Formation" collectible furnishing. This can now be found in the Enchanted Lights category.

Quests & Zones[edit]

General

  • The wayshrine for Southern Elsweyr now properly unlocks for players who are using copied characters.
  • Completing the main quests for the Dragonguard now count towards the achievement "Rebuilding the Sanctum".
  • The Outlaw's Refuge in Senchal now has a graveyard for those who manage to find a way to kill your character.

Quests

  • A Childhood in Flames:
    • Fixed an issue with missing audio on some NPC dialogue.
    • Fixed a number of quest blockers.
    • Improved the reward you receive for completing this quest.
  • New Moon Rising:
    • Fixed an issue where leaving and re-entering a certain room could cause your quest progress to become blocked.
    • Fixed some issues with incorrect icons being displayed for various buffs placed on your character.
    • Fixed an issue where various encounters were not resetting properly.
    • Fixed several visual bugs in the final boss fight.
  • The Dark Aeon:
    • Fixed an issue that would allow dead cultists to come back to life and fight you but couldn't be targeted.
    • Fixed an issue with monsters that were able to be pulled away from their locations during the last boss encounter.
  • The Dragonguard:
    • Updated graveyard locations within the final instance to cut down on run time.
    • Fixed an issue where the quest finisher wasn't appearing in certain situations.
  • The Pride of Alkosh:
    • Fixed an issue where two version of the same NPC appeared inside the Dragonhold Sanctum.
    • Updated the bell puzzle to act similarly as other bell puzzles.
  • Uneasy Allies:
    • Fixed a number of issues with quest assist locations while within Moonlit Cove.
    • Fixed an issue where Za'ji didn't have VO during some conversations.

Monsters

  • Dragons (note these fixes affect Dragons found in both Northern and Southern Elsweyr)
    • A Dragon that dies while casting Unrelenting Force no longer instantly casts the ability.
    • Fixed an issue where Dragons could be lead very far away from their spawning area.
    • Fixed an issue where the Dragon's ground aura could not be seen.
    • Fixed an issue where storms from the Storm Call ability could be fought and killed by player pets.
    • Fixed an issue where Frost Breath could behave erratically if its active target died.
    • Fixed an issue where the Dragon's boss bar would appear to briefly return to full just after the Dragon died.
    • Dragons engaged in combat just before deciding to leave for another location now correctly stay where the combat is taking place.
    • Dragons no longer fire projectiles indiscriminately at players who are not participating in the event.
    • Your character will now suffer damage if a Dragon lands on top of you.
    • Raise the Dead now correctly summons undead to join the battle.
    • Raise the Dead no longer continues to summon undead if the Dragon leaves combat.
    • Soul Tear now hits fewer players.
    • Reduced the damage dealt by Soul Tear, which also no longer ramps up over time.
    • Trees now explode correctly according to the element that caused them to explode.

    • Puncturing Strikes: This ability and its morphs now properly update with Master-at-Arms all the time, instead of using either Master-at-Arms or Thaumaturge under certain circumstances.

Weapon

  • Bow
    • Rapid Fire:
      • Ballista (morph): Fixed an issue where this ability would only display its initial impact on targets and cause health desyncs. Please note this fix will reintroduce a strange visual bug where using the ability against Dragons displays more than one projectile; this will be fixed in a future patch.

Racial Passives

  • Imperial
    • Red Diamond: Fixed an issue where this passive's cost reduction was doubling in effectiveness with Bash.

Itemization & Item Sets[edit]

Item sets

  • Azureblight Reaper: Enemies can now only have one instance of Blight Seeds on them at a time, but multiple players wearing the set can contribute to the stack count of the Blight Seed debuff. This will prevent situations where two separate stacks of Blight Seeds could be tracked from two separate players, but would conflict with the other stack's cooldown and detonation.
  • Coward's Gear: Fixed an issue where this set was not properly updating while sprinting.
  • New Moon Acolyte: Fixed an issue where this set was applying to the cost of Bash.

  • Kwama Scrib
    • Fixed an issue where Kwama Scribs in Grahtwood did not animate while moving.
  • Mudcrab
    • Fixed an issue where Mudcrabs in Hew's Bane did not animate while moving.
  • Necromancer
    • Fixed an issue where the Sacrifice ability could cause a player character to die, rather than a monster.
    • Sacrifice no longer causes the monster to move or summon a ghost. It instead applies a damage shield to allies in the same combat.

  • Vaults of Madness
    • Ulguna Soul-Reaver will now always grant credit for associated achievements when killed.

Trials

  • Hel Ra Citadel
    • Fixed an issue where the last player entering the gauntlet courtyard could end up outside the gate and unable to get back in.

Exploration & Itemization[edit]

General

  • Onyx, Pure Snow, and Spectral Indriks are now visible in the Collectibles menu before being unlocked.
  • Corrected some misleading text in the acquisition hints of the Skaal Explorer Outfit Styles.
  • Updated descriptions for the Opal Undaunted Weapons to better clarify where they're found.
  • Fixed an issue where the Refabricated style book and pages were unlocking the wrong styles.
  • Fixed an issue where you weren't able to purchase Indrik Feathers from the Impresario.

Achievements

  • Added the Refabricated Style Master achievement in the Halls of Fabrication section of the achievement menu.

Homes

  • Fixed an issue where three items in the furnished version of Wraithhome wouldn't stack with identical items acquired from the Crown Store.

Furnishings

  • Updated the name of a future luxury furnisher item to "Ayleid Pillar, Small Empty" from "Ayleid Sconce, Empty" to avoid duplicate names.
  • "Wedding Blossoms, Blue" and "Wedding Blossoms, Peach" can now be found in the Enchanted Lights subcategory instead of the Plants subcategory.
  • Corrected a mismatch between the name of the "Redguard Enclosure, Arc" furnishing and its recipe.
  • The "Tree, Desert Acacia" furnishing now sways gently in the wind, as intended.

UI[edit]

General

  • Updated the "Travel to Leader" prompt to display like other notifications on the HUD so it doesn't hide time sensitive notifications, such as ready checks.
  • Fixed an issue where you would see ignored players chat in the group channel.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the tooltip for items in Collections to disappear while scrolling.
  • Fixed several known issues related to the Activity Finder.

Crafting

  • Fixed an issue where you were not able to re-dye an outfit slot after clearing the previous dyes, if the new colors are the same as the old ones.
  • Updated crafting stations to allow crafting reagents and solvents to be cleared from their respective slots with a single click instead of requiring a double click.

Gamepad Mode

  • Fixed an issue where the "Removing from area…" timer would overlap with buff trackers.

Guilds & Guild Functionality

  • Fixed an issue where guild bank categories other than "All" would appear empty if deposit permissions were lost.
  • Fixed an issue where guild rank permissions were not saving.
