In order to continue playing the Elder Scrolls Online you will have to have the latest patch, which is usually installed automatically. As an MMO, patches are applied regularly and may be ahead of this page; the official patch notes forum always has an up-to-date list.

Note: Some major content updates are numbered separately by ZeniMax, indicated in bold under 'Notes'. Following the launch of Tamriel Unlimited, these update numbers are often used unofficially by the community to differentiate the "base-game patch" content from the named "DLC game pack" content. This list does not cover beta or PTS patch history.

Hotfixes[edit]

Hotfixes are changes made to the game which do not require downloading a new Patch. They can apply to all platforms, or just some of them.

Latest PC/Mac Version: 4.2.6[edit]

The Elder Scrolls Online v4.2.6 fixes several ability and itemization issues in Blackrose Prison, in addition to some higher impact combat fixes including pets taking too much damage from certain attacks, single-target cast time abilities cancelling the cast immediately, Dual Wield weapon enchantments proccing incorrectly, and some fixes to item sets. We also have a few fixes for issues affecting the Mac game client. The size of this patch is approximately 140MB.

  • General
    • The target completion time for Blackrose Prison is now correctly set at 40 minutes as originally intended, rather than 30 minutes.
  • Arena 5: Drakeeh’s Cage
    • Resurrected Prisoners will now do less damage with Uppercut and Shock Aura on Normal difficulty.
    • Drakeeh's Negate Magic ability can no longer be interrupted.
    • The Vengeful Revenant's Soul Rupture and Soul Cage abilities will no longer instantly complete, thus doing damage, should the Vengeful Revenant be killed while casting them.

Achievements

  • Fixed a typo in the achievement previously known as Fiendish Fauna. It will now be known as Fiendish Flora, because Trap Plants are plants, as their name so coyly suggests.

Fishing

  • Fixed an issue where Murkmire’s Foul Water Trophy fish were unable to be caught.
  • Catching the Spotted Seatrout now properly gives credit towards the Murkmire Master Angler achievement.

Itemization

  • Fixed an issue where completing Blackrose Prison would sometimes grant you two one-handed weapons for the Gallant Charge item set, or a one-hander from each of the Gallant Charge and Spectral Cloak item sets. Now, when you obtain a weapon from the Gallant Charge item set, you will always acquire a shield in the Gallant Charge set with it as well; when you acquire a weapon from the Spectral Cloak item set, you will always acquire a second weapon in the Spectral Cloak set with it, as well.

Quests The Weight of Words: You will now be able to collect Tablet of the Void Fragments in any order without being blocked from progressing.

  • Fixed an issue where both of your Dual Wield weapon enchantments were proccing from a single damage from Light Attack, Heavy Attack, or Weapon Ability.
    • Developer Comment:
    • Abilities that deal damage multiple times with a single cast, such as Flurry which has 5 hits or Twin Slashes which has 2 direct damage hits and several damage over time ticks, can proc both of your weapon enchantments over those hits. But each isolated instance of damage should only be able to proc one weapon enchantment at a time.
  • Fixed an issue where single-target cast time abilities, such as Uppercut or Dark Flare, would cancel the cast immediately if you did not keep your target within your reticle during the entire cast time.
    • Developer Comment:
    • We never intended to change single-target cast time abilities in this way; this was caused from an unrelated bug fix in the previous patch.
  • Player pets will now take 85% less damage from all Area of Effect and Damage over Time attacks. They will continue to take 100% less damage from all attacks in group dungeons, trials, and arenas.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Blade of Woe ability to not function specifically on the Mac game client.

  • Dead-Water's Guile: Fixed an issue where this item set would only proc when you got the killing blow on an enemy, and not when that enemy died within 2 seconds of you damaging them.
  • Soldier of Anguish: Fixed an issue where this item set would proc on any melee attack instead of only melee Light Attacks.

The Elder Scrolls Online v1.36 includes some crash fixes and performance improvements, along with an adjustment for the Announcement UI appearing too frequently and some additional bug fixes covering Summerset, dungeons, and base game content. The size of this patch is approximately 1.29GB.

Jewelry Crafting

  • The Jewelry Crafting Station available from Faustina Curio (the Achievement Mediator) is now legendary quality instead of epic, no longer binds when acquired, and now warns you that it requires the Summerset chapter to use.
  • Fixed an issue where Jewelry Crafting Writs beyond the first rank were incorrectly granting Inspiration for Enchanting. These Writs now grant Inspiration for Jewelry Crafting, as intended.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the Artaeum Pickled Fish Bowl to double the number of fish you receive under certain circumstances. The intended effect is that this food increases your chances to acquire rare fish, similar to the bonus that occurs when another player is fishing from the same fishing hole.

  • Fixed a common crash that could occur during an Abyssal Geyser event.

  • Fixed an issue where the tutorial could not be completed if you defeated the Yaghra Nightmare in a particular location, and decided not to loot it.

  • A Pearl of Great Price: Razum-dar is now much easier to locate in Rellenthil.
  • The Crystal Tower: Fixed an issue if you used a Synergy during the first phase of the boss event, you weren’t able to use it in later phases.
  • The Queen's Decree:
    • Your progress will no longer become blocked if you decide not to wait for the scene between Raz and Valserinn [sic] to complete, after leaving the Kinlady’s house.
    • Your progress will no longer be blocked if you defeat all the Yaghra before Valserinn has reached the Abyssal Pearl in the Undercroft.

  • Fixed an issue where two or more players using Arms of Relequen or Perfected Arms of Relequen could not both apply stacks on the same target. Arms of Relequen will now deal 200 Physical Damage of Harmful Winds per stack on a target generated by the caster.

  • Catapults now have their area effects last in the area when hitting a Keep section that can be destroyed.

    • Note: Boxes that are already for sale on Guild Traders will not appear to be Bind on Pickup in the Guild Trader UI. These will still bind to you when you purchase them.
