Many of the animals you encounter during the game are passive creatures, which are non-hostile and unable to attack or harm you.

These creatures can be attacked, and will always die in one hit. However, they are usually domestic, and killing them will be considered a Crime if witnessed. They may usually be harvested for Food Ingredients.

These creatures can be attacked, but will always die in one hit. Note that they are not generally affected by Area of Effect attacks, but must be attacked directly. They may usually be harvested for Food Ingredients or bait for fishing.

Antelopes[edit]

Antelopes can be found in Grahtwood, Greenshade, and the Gold Coast. They yield Game when killed.

Ash Hoppers[edit]

Ash Hoppers can be found in Vvardenfell. They yield Crawlers when killed.

Badgers[edit]

Badgers can be found in the Gold Coast. They yield (?) when killed.

Beetles[edit]

Beetles can be found in most sandy areas. They yield Crawlers when killed.

Centipedes[edit]

Centipedes can be found in woody areas and caves. They yield Crawlers when killed.

Chub Loons[edit]

Chub Loon

Chub Loons can be found in the coastal areas of Wrothgar. They will typically run away when you get near. They yield Poultry when killed.

Cliff Skippers[edit]

Cliff Skippers can be found around Vvardenfell. They are smaller versions of the more hostile Cliff Striders. There are also flying Cliffracers, which can be seen in the skies over Vvardenfell and Stonefalls, though these cannot be attacked or interacted with in any way.

Daedrats[edit]

Daedrats can be found in the Imperial Sewers. They yield Guts when killed.

Daggerbacks[edit]

Daggerbacks can be found in Craglorn, Wrothgar, and the Gold Coast. They yield (?) when killed.

Deer are found in wooded areas across Tamriel, though they were removed from Cyrodiil to improve performance. They yield Game and leather scraps when killed.

Nixads can be found in the Gold Coast and Vvardenfell regions. Uniquely, these creatures are sometimes able to dodge attacks, so it may take a couple of tries to kill them. They yield Insect Parts and a variety of crafting materials when killed.

Pocket Mammoths[edit]

Pocket Mammoths can be found in the snowy parts of Wrothgar. They yield Red Meat when killed.

Pony Guars[edit]

Pony Guars can be found in Stonefalls and Deshaan. They yield White Meat, Guts and leather when killed.

Rabbits can be found in snowy or wooded areas everywhere. They yield Guts when killed.

Sandroaches[edit]

Sandroaches can be found in the opens and some caves in Craglorn. They yield Crawlers when killed.

Scorpions[edit]

Scribs[edit]

Scribs can be commonly found around Stonefalls, and also anywhere Kwama are located. They yield Crawlers and Scrib Jelly when killed.

Sep Adders can be found in Hew's Bane. They yield Small Game when killed.

Shroom Beetles[edit]

Shroom Beetles can be found in Vvardenfell. They yield Crawlers and very rarely various types of mushrooms when killed.

Skavengers[edit]

Skavengers can be found in Craglorn, City of Ash, Pulk, and Shimmerene. They yield Guts when killed.

Spiders can be found in fields and caves everywhere. They yield Crawlers and Spider Eggs when killed.

Squirrels[edit]

Squirrels can be found in wooded areas. They yield Guts when killed.

Scuttlers[edit]

Scuttlers can be found in Bal Foyen, Stonefalls, Deshaan, and Coldharbour. They yield Guts when killed.

Thorn Geckos[edit]

Thorn Geckos can be found in Craglorn. They yield Guts when killed.

Vvardvarks[edit]

Vvardvarks can be found in Vvardenfell. They yield Guts or Small Game when killed.

Wormmouths[edit]

Wormmouths can be found in Craglorn. They yield Guts when killed.

Harvestable Creatures[edit]

These are not true creatures but rather are just part of the environment of the game. These animals have a very limited number of animations and the only way to interact with them is by activating them (which yields bait for fishing, as well as possibly Alchemical Reagents).

Butterflies[edit]

Butterflies are usually seen near flowers, wild or domestic. They yield Insect Parts and occasionally Butterfly Wings.

Dragonflies[edit]

Dragonflies can be found near water in Vvardenfell. They yield Insect Parts.

Fetcherflies[edit]

Fetcherfly

Fetcherflies can be found in most places in Vvardenfell, particularly around Fetcherfly Nests. They yield Insect Parts. (Note that the nests will defend themselves by releasing swarms of hostile fetcherflies, which are not passive creatures. Solitary fetcherflies are harmless and can be harvested, rather than attacked.)

Fleshflies[edit]

Fleshflies are often found around corpses. They yield Insect Parts and occasionally Fleshfly Larvae.

Netch Calf[edit]

Netch Calves can be found around their mature brethren in Vvardenfell. They yield Guts.

Torchbugs[edit]

Torchbugs can be found around bodies of water, sometimes in caves. They are most easily seen at night. They yield Insect Parts and occasionally Torchbug Thoraxes.

Wasp[edit]

Wasps can be found in open fields, often in areas near their giant cousins. They yield Insect Parts.

Aesthetic Creatures[edit]

These are creatures that cannot be harmed at all or interacted with, though they often have a name that you can see when looking at them.

Cat[edit]

Cats are often found in settlements and buildings. They come in several colors, such as brown, gray tabby, and seal point.

Dog[edit]

Dogs are found around settlements. There are several breeds, such as a hound breed, a black breed, and Wolfhounds.

Horse[edit]

Horses can often be found in settlements, usually in or near stables. They come in several varieties.

Non-interactive[edit]

These are purely aesthetic, and are just a visual element rather than being true creatures, as they do not have a creature name appear when you look at them. They may react to your presence, but cannot be harmed or interacted with in any way.

Bats[edit]

Bats can be found throughout the Gold Coast region, most prominently in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary.

Birds[edit]

A variety of birds can be seen across Tamriel, flying in the sky, or perching on trees, objects, and the ground. Some fly away when approached, while others continue to sit there.

Cliffracers[edit]

Cliffracer

Cliffracers are often seen in the skies above Stonefalls and Vvardenfell. Their land-based cousins, Cliff Striders and Cliff Skippers, can also be seen on Vvardenfell, though these can be killed, and Cliff Striders are also hostile.

Immobile[edit]

These are just part of the scenery, in that they don't even move.

Sandcakes are common on beaches. They can occasionally be found while fishing and used as decorations in your home.
