TOR Node that made it through[edit]

It may just be a case of luck where the node made it through before the list was updated, but can you check on 173.254.216.69 when you get a chance and make sure it's in our TOR blocked list. As you can see here, it is on the TOR exit nodes list, but the user has now made two edits (albeit two months apart), so I would've thought that IP would be blocked. Helping Out[edit]

Just been updating pages as I come across them for the moment, but thought I'd ask if anything specific needs to be done? The 'To-do' list for the site is pretty small for the moment. Happy to help! D521talk 15:12, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

If you'd like, you could check out some of the locations on this page. While the locations need to be written by a PC user, the descriptions could be better, and for some of them, the cell can be found but not the encounter. Additionally, Shadowmarks could use some information--what the loot or danger is, who the Fence is, why it's protected or safe, etc.
If you have Dawnguard, I'm fairly certain our pages on that are lacking at the moment. And, since you've got Morrowind as well, I personally think that namespace could use some tidying up, from what little I've seen of it. Vely►t►e 15:26, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah I have Dawnguard, but most of the problems lie in that I'm on the 360 not the PC lol. Working on getting a copy though, so if I do be happy to help once I re-learn the CS. Been trying to update everything DG as I come across it, as I can't find a list of things that need worked on. Also no honest clue what a namespace is... D521talk 15:32, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Namespaces are the Skyrim: and such you see before links. So the Morrowind namespace would be Morrowind:Article Name, etc. It helps to sort the information on the wiki.
The Task List is our "to do" list on here. You can get to it by selecting "How to Contribute" on the left side of the screen and then picking "Task List" from the list it gives you. Here is a list of all Dawnguard pages, if you wanted one. Vely►t►e 15:43, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

#pickfrom not so random any more[edit]

Helenaannevalentine just discovered that, apparently since the 1.19 update, the #pickfrom function isn't working reliably any more. It only seems to fail to update on an actual page refresh - doing anything like purging or using Show Preview forces a refresh. Also, as I discovered in my testing, apparently using #pickfrom inside a #arg (as is done on my user page) also seems to force a refresh. Robin Hoodtalk 02:42, 5 October 2012 (GMT)

Hello from a fellow Canadian![edit]

I was thrilled to see that one of the more influential users of the UESPWiki was Canadian! There are apparently only 64 of us, according to our category. ): Hugs for you! GodRaineTalk 02:46, 8 March 2013 (GMT)

Heya Nephele[edit]

I've archived 2012 for you, well, most of it up until your last confirmed sighting. I also left it just as 2012 (no extra -07). It was very long, and most all of the issues have been resolved. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:40, 7 April 2013 (GMT)

NS_FULL Issue, Revisited[edit]

Hey Neph, I don't know if you're still monitoring your talk page, but I've been looking at making some modifications to UespCustomCode, and as I'm starting to familiarize myself with it a bit and setting up test cases, I bumped up against this old problem. Doing some research into it, I found a few things that you might find interesting.

First off, MediaWiki does indeed allow you a certain degree of control over the parsing of the results. See Controlling the parsing of output. Thinking I was onto something, I promptly started playing on my testing wiki, and discovered...pause for dramatic tension...nothing @!^%$% works! Gah! :) In each possible customization scenario, something causes problems.

Looking at the Parser.php code, however, a whole new—and stupidly simple—solution presented itself: prepend a space to the output. The parser code no longer sees it as starting with a colon, but constructs like [[{{NS_FULL:Main}}Main Page|Main Page]] don't mind the extra whitespace. If we're ever actually checking the name in a comparison, or displaying it, that could potentially cause problems, but if we assume that we're only ever using it in a link, that neatly works around some really idiotic coding in Parser.php Bug 529. Worst case scenario, if there's some reason we do need to have a space and non-space version, we can implement one magic word for each and let the template programmer figure out which one they need. Robin Hood  (talk) 06:15, 4 May 2013 (GMT)

Just to follow up on this, I've implemented it here on UESP, but for {{NS_FULL}} only. It's likely to cause more problems than it solves if done for anything else. {{NS_MAINPAGE}} could be done as well, but without a friendly name, it produces Main Page rather than Main Page, which looks ugly. Since this isn't in use anywhere that can reasonably be expected to point to main space right now (discounting the previous discussion of this issue), nor is it ever likely to be, I decided to leave the code alone. It can always be changed later, and prepending a space isn't a major programming challenge. Robin Hood  (talk) 04:27, 4 February 2014 (GMT)

Ayleids[edit]

Howdy, Nephele. I know you're not on much anymore, but I noticed that back in aught 8, you added that Ayleids are also called "Ancient Ones". I can't find a source for that. You want to take a look at Lore:Ayleids the next time you're on and add a reference, if it hasn't been taken care of by then? Kthnxbye! Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 04:27, 14 June 2013 (GMT)

It rings a bell. Might want to check Umbacano's dialogue? Don't know if it's a legitimate name though. —Legoless (talk) 01:39, 15 June 2013 (GMT)
Several people at the Reference Desk said they couldn't find it in the dialogue. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 03:25, 15 June 2013 (GMT)

Help![edit]

Hiya, Hope you doing well.

I'm currently trying to expand the Nightcaller Temple info and want to play around with the info to get it looking right, but not sure how to note that it's a work in progress or how to work in a sandbox and getting someone like yourself to have a look before moving it into place. I started working like I normally do by just editing on the fly, but as there is a lot of info I'm getting and I don't feel confident adding/changing that much 'live'

Also can you give me some insight into the coding used and how to use the links for things like books, ingredients, people etc....hope you understand what I mean!

thanks for any help,

Biffa (talk) 11:45, 24 September 2013 (GMT)

As per the notice at the top of this page, Nephele is no longer active on the wiki, and is unlikely to answer your question. It's prolly best if you ask someone else. --AN|L (talk) 12:57, 24 September 2013 (GMT)
Biffa, you can add the {{wip}} template onto the article to notify others that you are working on the page, and then work on it in your own personal sandbox (at User:Biffa/Sandbox for example, just click the red link to create the sandbox). No one will edit your sandbox without your permission (which you can give via a talk page or by using the {{Editing Allowed}} template), with the possible but unlikely exception of minor site maintenance edits (if a linked image is renamed, for example). The links provided in your welcome message are quite helpful, particularly the Quick Editing Guide, and if you want more information specifically about creating links, see this page. Also, we have a Mentor Program, where you can find other friendly and experienced editors to help out with this sort of thing. Good luck, and please feel free to ask if you have any other questions. :) — ABCface 14:31, 24 September 2013 (GMT)

not sure where/ how to post this...?[edit]

ok newbie to the forums,so if I'm doing anything wrong sorry in advance.
TIA if you can help me with these issues:
1) faendal runs out of arrows- a lot!
(IKR; he can use melee weapons)
Also, cannot give him arrows- game crashes EVERY time. Didn't use to do this in standalone, but later when I bought a newer version of the game w/ Dawnguard and :Dragonborn does.

User cannot pick up Faendal's spent arrows, either.:

2) Ft. Neugrad (all versions) get close to the bandit chief's door, and the player animations (moving, drawing bow, etc) lag.
Doesn't affect the combat animations, however.

Nephele hasn't been active since July 2012. You'd have better luck finding a mentor to ask for help with your problems. -damon  talkcontribs 06:48, 2 May 2014 (GMT)
Also, this isn't the forums. The forums can be found here. Robin Hood  (talk) 14:33, 2 May 2014 (GMT)

MediaWiki extension quote request[edit]

Hello Nephele, I found you through your User page at MediaWiki.org There is an old, unmaintained extension which I would like to use called ProtectSection (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ProtectSection) You are the only author listed who has a User page, so I thought I'd start by asking you for help. Would you be willing/able to resurrect this extension to work with the current MediaWiki release? If so, would you mind telling me what you would charge for doing so? )I'm brand new to working with mediawiki, so I don't know the proper etiquette for making this request.) Thank you for your consideration. -Darren darren[at]pcliberty.com Tcrimsonk (talk) 19:49, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

Given the fact that Nephele hasn't made any posts since 2012, it is unlikely that she will read this post and respond here. She has, however, specified an E-Mail address here. You might want to look into that. -- SarthesArai Talk 20:01, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
SarthesArai, thank you; I've tried that but keep getting an error "mail(/var/log/phpmail.log): failed to open stream: Permission denied" This, despite my having confirmed my email address within my user profile. Perhaps it takes time to propagate and give me permission to send messages. I'll try again tomorrow. Thank you for responding. -- Tcrimsonk (talk) 21:28, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
I just tried e-mailing myself and got the same error. I've e-mailed the site owner directly to let him know. Robin Hood  (talk) 22:13, 8 June 2016 (UTC)
This should be fixed now as I was able to email myself through the wiki. If you still receive errors though, just let me know. -- Daveh (talk) 17:46, 9 June 2016 (UTC)

Edit to Table[edit]

I modified the note you placed on the Iron Ore value being the only one higher on the Mining Ore Radiant Quest page, having the note there prevented sorting by Per-ore values as it was treated as a mixed (think string) table instead of an integer. Thanks. --184.13.52.66 03:44, 1 November 2019 (GMT)

Hi, Nephele is currently not-active on the wiki. Your edit to the Mine Ore page didn't affect the table sorting in any way, can you let me know in what way the table doesn't sort for you and I can look in it? Kiz(email - talk) 04:41, 1 November 2019 (GMT)
It might be browser-dependent, since I believe it relies on Javascript, but for me, in the unmodified version, numbers would sort "alphabetically", in other words, 7 came after 60 because 7 comes after 6. I've used a different method to fix the problem, so the note doesn't have to be moved. (And remind me to update Help:Tables at some point...it's woefully out of date!)
