Shalks are aggressive giant beetles native to Morrowind. They attack with fire and can move through lava unharmed.

- Bite
- A basic melee attak dealing low physical damage.
- Fire Spew
- The shalk inhales air before spewing a spray of fire back out of its mouth, indicated by a thin conal AoE, dealing continuous low flame damage.
Charged[edit]
- Bite
- A basic melee attack dealing low physical damage.
- Flash Burst
- The shalk quickly releases a burst of flames around itself, dealing low fire damage.
- Fiery Bite
- The shalk coats its mandibles with fire before lunging for a bite, dealing moderate physical damage and low flame damage over time. This attack can be blocked to set the shalk off-balance.
- Flame Release
- The shalk releases excess flames all around itself, as indicated by a circular AoE, dealing continuous moderate flame damage. This attack can be interrupted to set the shalk off-balance.

Generic Shalks[edit]
Generic, unnamed shalks shalks can be encountered in various places across Tamriel, including delves, dungeons, and DLC content. These shalks have varying stats, namely health. Below is a list of shalks, categorized by location, difficulty and health.

Notes[edit]
- As of Update 10, shalks have a chance to drop beetle scuttle.
- Although described as a type of shalk, the dire ash beetle Ash-Eater has the appearance of an assassin beetle.
Bugs[edit]
- The charged shalks at the Sulfur Pools have the same amount of health and abilities as non-charged shalks. ?
