The Golden Knight

The Golden Knight is a mysterious character who is dressed in a suit of golden Auroran armor and wields the powerful sword Dawnbreaker. He briefly appears on several occasions during the Summerset questline, often using his power to briefly help you before being teleported back due to Daedric interference. It is later revealed that the Golden Knight is in fact Darien Gautier, serving the Daedric Prince Meridia.

The Golden Knight in Shimmerene

As you head up the stairs in Shimmerene, he briefly appears in a burst of light on the steps between Kinlady Avinisse's Mansion and the Monastery of Serene Harmony before disappearing:

Golden Knight: "You there! I have a—damn it! Why won't this work?"

Lialanah: "Did you see a golden knight?"

Olunandon: "I have no idea what that was, and I'm not sure I want to know!"

A Pearl of Great Price

Approaching the Rellenthil Sinkhole, you'll hear:

Golden Knight: "Dawnbreaker, open the way!"

Golden Knight: "Oh, come on! Stupid Daedric interference!"

Golden Knight: "I'll be ba--"

Buried Memories

Once you finish speaking to Iachesis and leave his office, the following exchange occurs as the members of the Psijic Order see projections in a scrying pool:

Iradal: "See what the scrying pool reveals! There's something happening on the beach!"

Valsirenn: "It's the yaghra, they're invading Artaeum!"

Ritemaster Iachesis: "The pearl! Somehow it was used to summon the yaghra! We need to defend the beach!"

Valsirenn: "Wait! Is that a sword?"

Golden Knight: "That would be mine. I'm on my way to help. Eventually.

Ritemaster Iachesis: "The Golden Knight and his sword can wait. The yaghra are our primary concern."

The Golden Knight destroys Mephala's webs

Upon reaching the sealed door in the Psijic Relic Vaults, and after defeating the Spiderkith and failing to burn down Mephala's Barrier, the Golden Knight finally arrives:

Ritemaster Iachesis: Another Daedric intrusion?"

Golden Knight: "My apologies. Daedric interference and Artaeum's own defenses delayed my arrival.

Golden Knight: Mephala's webs? I hate those things! Allow me.

Golden Knight: Damn it, they found me again! I'll return when I can—"

Ritemaster Iachesis: "A champion of Meridia? At least he was helpful."

The Tower Sentinels

The Golden Knight tries to save Imedril

Once you reach Sapiarch Imedril in King's Haven Pass, you'll hear the Sapiarch and the Golden Knight further ahead:

Sapiarch Imedril: "Don't don't let it take me ...."

Golden Knight: "No worries, I've got you! I think."

The Golden Knight will then address you:

Golden Knight: "You there! Burn the webs! Quickly, quickly!"

After burning the webs:

Golden Knight: "Mephala's damn webbing! It's in all my nooks and crannies! Thanks for helping, though."

The Golden Knight approaches the portal and turns his back to it, only to be grabbed and pulled through. The Golden Knight's sword is damaged in a magical attack. He'll call for you aid once more:

Golden Knight: "No! Save the Dawnstar Gem!"

Notes

• When asked about a prophecy, The Grand Prognosticator says "I see a golden knight and an unexpected sacrifice."
• The sword held by the Knight is Meridia's artifact, the Dawnbreaker, and he wields a shield in the Daggerfall Covenant style. He also wears the Auroran Knight costume.
• Ylahizu the Magnificent can summon a "Lost Spirit" that is wearing Darien's armor and wielding the Dawnbreaker.
