Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Speak with Lyranth and Arox.
  2. Meet Rynkyus at Wretched Spire.
  3. Investigate Jynd's Foundry.
  4. Investigate Zynoahz's Gaol.
  5. Explore The Blood Pit.
  6. Find a way to unlock the blind seer's cell.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

After meeting with Lyranth at Madam Whim's, talk to Arox to bring him along with you. Head to Wretched Spire and talk with Rynkyus, who will point you to investigate two sites.

Jynd's Schematic

The first is Jynd's Foundry, a short distance north of Wretched Spire. You can chat with Rynkyus when you arrive; otherwise, head into the foundry. It is an open-air site, with mechanical devices all about the area. To investigate the site, locate three curiosities, about each of which Arox will have some commentary: a Daedric Deathstone (located to the east), a set of Jynd's schematics (located to the west), and some orders from Sister Celdina (located to the north). After finding these, go meet Rynkyus further north, at a ritual site near one of the spawn points for the Atoll of Immolation, to conclude this portion of your investigation.

Zynoahz's Sketch

Zynoahz's Gaol (pronounced like "jail") is up next. It is far to the southwest of Wretched Spire. Again, you can chat with Rynkyus, if you wish, before heading in. The gaol is open to the air and filled with dangerous chasms, so don't fall in! Again, you'll need to find three curiosities: a Flawed Runic Crux (located to the east), a mortally wounded Disastrix Daelon (located to the north and who swears that he did not reveal the mysterious "final gift" of "the blind seer,") and a sketch by Zynoahz (located to the northwest). Exit the gaol and head north. There, you will witness a conversation between Rynkyus, Lyranth, the Anchorite, and Arox. After revealing Elegian as the inventor of the Cataclyst, Arox will point out that he knows where the inventor is and that neither Rynkyus nor Lyranth will be able to enter the place without triggering alarms.

Elegian's Cell

Head west to reach The Blood Pit. At the south end of it you'll find the Warden's Overlook, reachable by a portal below it. Head up and examine the items there. (See bug below.) By this point, Arox is livid. Head to the Durrance Vile, to the west. Inside, speak with the Anchorite, and then figure out how to open Elegian's cell. To open the cell, you'll need to collect some lucents and bring them up to the balcony, place them in the labrums, and activate the Rune of Unsealing. Once this is done, enter his cell. Here, you'll need to find an elixir to calm the mind of the mad man. There are four elixirs in the cell, but speaking with the Anchorite gives you the clue as to which one will work: the Green Grass Elixir. Use it to fill the two braziers near him and he'll regain sanity for a short time. He speaks of his regret about creating the Cataclyst, and says you'll need to head to Annihilarch's Summit to find and destroy the Cataclyst. He will also provide insight as to the mystery behind the identity of the Anchorite: the enchantment he created for her mask resembles that of the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal; it wipes all memory of the previous person's existence -- not just for her, but for everyone who ever knew her! No one who ever knew her before wearing the mask can now remember that she ever existed.

Head back to Wretched Spire to talk with Lyranth and conclude the quest.

Bugs[edit]

  • Although there are three items on the Warden's Overlook, you won't be able to read the "Warden's Orders for the Day" if you read the Prisoner Report first; it will disappear. ?
    • Workaround: Read the orders (on the left) first.

Rynkyus said he would be waiting for me outside of Kynmarcher Jynd's foundry near an old shrine. We should compare notes.
Objective Hint: Talk to Rynkyus at the Ritual Site
Rynkyus and I found a number of clues in Jynd's foundry and Zynoahz's gaol, but we're no closer to learning the location of the Riven Cataclyst. Fortunately, Lyranth and the Anchorite have something to share.
Objective: Listen to the Conversation
We learned that the cataclyst plans are the work of a blind seer. The Anchorite recalled a name: Elegian. Arox claims that Elegian is held prisoner in a place called the Blood Pit. I should talk to Arox.
Objective: Talk to Arox the Mutilator
Arox told me that the seer we need to speak with is a prisoner in the Blood Pit. The Anchorite will meet us there.

As we entered the Blood Pit, we spotted Valkynaz Nokvroz speaking with one of the Blood Pit's overseers. We should listen to what they're saying.

Arox suggested that we search the Warden's Overlook. Something there may point us to the location of Elegian's cell.
Objective: Search the Warden's Overlook
We found a prisoner list and the warden's instructions at the Warden's Overlook. Elegian is held in a part of the prison called the Durance Vile and guarded by Fivax the Oppressor.
Objective: Find Elegian's Durance Vile
We entered the Durance Vile, but Elegian's cell is blocked by a glowing door. I should talk to the Anchorite and see if she has any ideas on how to open it.
Objective: Talk to the Anchorite
I need to figure out how to activate the device that will unseal the door to Elegian's prison cell. The Anchorite suggested I gather lucents, and I can always ask her for more information if I need to.
Objective: Find a Way to Open Elegian's Cell
I need charged lucents to place on the discharge labrums. This should reveal the means to unseal Elegian's prison door.
Objective: Activate the Rune of Unsealing
Objective Hint: Use the Dynamus Font
We unlocked the cell where we believe Elegian is being held. Time to meet the mad genius who supposedly designed the Riven Cataclyst.
Objective: Enter Elegian's Cell
We found the blind seer Elegian. He doesn't seem well. The Anchorite wants me to talk to him.
Objective: Talk to Elegian
We heard Valkynaz Nokvroz mention an elixir. We think they use it to clear Elegian's mind when they interrogate him. There are several bottles strewn about in this cell, but which one is right elixir?
Objective: Find the Elixir
I found a green tonic that doesn't seem to be poisonous or disgusting. I should pour it into the braziers and see if the fumes clear Elegian's mind.
Objective: Pour Elixir into Braziers
Pouring the elixir on the braziers created fumes that seem to have cleared Elegian's head. I should talk to him before the effect wears off.
Objective: Talk to Elegian
Elegian told us that he designed the Riven Cataclyst in his madness. He bitterly regrets it, and hopes we can destroy his work. I should listen while he and the Anchorite share a final moment.
Objective: Listen to the Anchorite and Elegian
Elegian told us that the Riven Cataclyst is hidden at Annihilarch's Summit. I should return to Wretched Spire and report this news to Lyranth and Rynkyus.
Objective: Return to Wretched Spire
We returned from the Blood Pit with information about the Riven Cataclyst's location: it's hidden at Annihilarch's Summit. We also learned something about the Anchorite's mask. I should talk to Lyranth and let her know what we learned.
Objective: Talk to Lyranth
Finishes quest☑ Our search of the Deadlands uncovered Nokvroz's plans to create his own cataclyst, located Elegian, and determined the hiding place of Sister Celdina's Riven Cataclyst. We still haven't found the missing Bladebearers, but we have a new destination.
