Chef Donolon, also known by monikers such as the Wizard of Whisking, the Prince of Pastry, and the Patron of Pies, was a legendary Breton confectioner that lived during the time of the Interregnum. He believed that delicious desserts, cakes in particular, have a way of bringing people together, and that was perhaps the key to ending the Alliance War. To that end, he traveled the world by sea and converted a barge into a bakery. His most coveted creation was the Jubilee Cake, which helped propelled him to stardom. His clientele included the likes of nobles and even Daedric Princes. Regardless of a person or entity's status, they might have to wait for years to even taste one of Donolon's cakes.[1][2] To this end, he distributed vouchers which puts the lucky recipient to the front of the list to receive a Jubilee Cake.[1][3]

At one point, Donolon came across a young Khajiiti orphan named Mogh among the moon-sugar cane fields he was harvesting from. After tasting one of his sweetrolls, Mogh became his apprentice, and then eventually his adoptive son. When Donolon felt Mogh was ready, he entrusted his son with continuing his work on his Jubilee Cakes. Meanwhile, Donolon took a culinary journey across Tamriel to sample regional cuisines to further hone his skills, and bring back new recipes to improve his cakes and pies. Donolon's envious rivals swooped in like vultures and stole ingredients and spread slander during Mogh's unveiling but were unsuccessful at their attempts of ruining Donolon's legacy.[4][5]

Chef Donolon was invited at one point to the Zeal of Zenithar festival in Belkarth, but he turned the invitation down and in his place his Nord rival Odhilda came as the second pick.[6] He took part in many baking challenges from Morrowind to High Rock. Each of his recipes was meticulously crafted and personally tested under the most demanding culinary conditions.[7] Donolon and his son provided their cakes in the Anniversary Jubilee celebration each year around the 4th of Rain's Hand.[nb 1] The exotic goods merchant, the Impresario, was known to sell replicas of Donolan's Jubilee Cakes during it in exchange for a currency which denoted the experiences of one's heroic or impressive feats.[8][9][10] During this celebration, Imperials decorated their steeds in stunning regalia and rode around on them with a plate with Jubilee Cake clutched in one hand.[11]

Records referencing Donolon survived till the Fourth Era. His Jubilee Cake recipe was still in use, and a cake resulting from it was served during a celebration in Daggerfall.[12] Donolon's pastry also inspired his contemporary, an Argonian chef named Makes-Many-Soups, to create her own Jubilee Soup recipe, which also survived the Fourth Era.[13][12]
