Albecius Jucani

Albecius Jucani, an Imperial citizen is the ambitious patriarch of the Jucani clan in Bruma. He is married to Ruccia and has two children: wayward Eddvia and spoilt Banus. The family is undergoing some turmoil as headstrong Eddvia insists on continuing her relationship with local blacksmith Hulgard, while Banus's dog Scruffy has gone missing.

After waking up at 8am, Albecius will enjoy a leisurely breakfast at home before heading out to the market at 10am, where he will spend the next five hours perusing the stalls. At 3pm, he will take up a seat outside the Jerall View Inn and sip some Alto wine until 8pm, when he heads back home for a two-hour dinner. After some relaxing at home, he will go to bed at midnight. There are two exceptions to this schedule. On Morndas, Middas and Fredas, he will indulge himself in the Jerall View bathhouse from 6pm to 8pm, while at 6pm on Sundas he heads to the Cathedral of St. Martin for two hours of prayer.

When greeting you, he will simply say: "I am Albecius, of the Jucani family." If you ask about himself, he explains: "I am privileged to enjoy quite a comfortable life, but I do try to give something back to the less-fortunate folk, when I can. The Great War took its toll on us. On all Cyrodiil. She may not look so different on the surface, but her spirit writhes in agony." Ask about the family and he will tell you: "We're quite old, and quite influential. When we say things, people - important people - tend to listen. That's not to say that we're the Elder Council, but we don't tend to be ignored, either. That's not to say we don't pick up on new opportunities when we can, of course! Our family must always strive for bigger and better things. Not to sound like a priest of Saint Martin, heh."

This view is somewhat tempered by his wife Ruccia's assessment: "We're not all that interesting a family, truth be told, though I'm sure Albecius will rattle on about how influential we are. He's tooting his own horn a little too much on that subject. He wishes we were influential, and the gods know he's trying his hardest to make it so. But, for now, we're just like any other moderately-wealthy family. We attend private parties and have fineries, but we're certainly not pulling the strings of the Elder Council, as much as Albecius wishes otherwise."

As befits his status, Albecius wears Colovian fine clothes, fine boots and a random ring and necklace. He is armed with a steel war axe and also carries the key to the family home and a random selection of gold, lockpicks, gems, jewelry, food and drink.

Conversations[edit]

You may overhear the following conversations between Albecius, Ruccia, Eddvia, Rilja Stone-Hearth and Serulius the Stagnant:

Albecius: "Enough of this, Eddvia. You're letting your bullheadedness get the better of you. If only you'd see him again-"
Eddvia: "See him again?! You have to be kidding me! I've seen him already! He's an arrogant, cocky bastard that I want nothing to do with! You understand?! Nothing! I'd rather kiss Hermaeus Mora than that scamp Calius! Then again, that's what he is, isn't he? A writhing mass of tentacles and slime!"
Albecius: "Such vitriol, Eddvia! To think, I raised you to be such a nice, sweet..."
Ruccia: "Eddvia, dear, please, understand. Your father has the right of it. I agree with him. Calius is perfect for you."
Eddvia: "Perfect? And who are you to tell me that? Surely that's my decision?! It is for everyone else, but somehow not for me? Admit it. You just want me to marry him so you'll be able to share in his family's wealth and influence."
Albecius: "Eddvia, I..."
Eddvia: "Go on. Say it."
Albecius: "Enough of this. And enough causing a scene, too. We'll talk about it some more, later. And in private."

Albecius: "Well met, Rilja."
Rilja: "Albecius? Well, this is a bit of a surprise...what brings you to my stall?"
Albecius: "Banus's birthday is coming up soon. My wife says he likes your little trinkets, so I was thinking of buying a couple for him."
Rilja: "With all due respect, sir, these aren't just 'trinkets'. They're cultural artifacts, and-"
Albecius: "Rilja, please. Just sell me a knicknack that my boy would like. Understand?"
Rilja: "...I see. Well, here. I'm sure he'd love this old dagger. It's dull, so he won't hurt himself either."
Albecius: "Great. I'll take it. Thank you for your service, Rilja."
Rilja: "Right. It's been a...pleasure."

Serulius: "Please, sir. Take pity on an old veteran. Just this once..."
Albecius: "This again? Serulius, you and I both know you will just spend it on mead."
Serulius: "Not so! Me, I'm sober, I swear..."
Albecius: "No, you're not - I can smell it on your breath. Gods, you are wretched."
Serulius: "That so? Well, Albecius, one day our places will be reversed. We'll see just how pretentious you are then..."
Albecius: "Ah, but that day is not today, Serulius. And until that time, I think I'll be keeping my coin."

Bugs[edit]

  • Despite Albecius's conversation with Rilja mentioning her stall, you can actually overhear it while in other locations (e.g. the Jerall View Inn). ?
