Magicka Detonation on a target
Magicka Detonation: Curse an enemy with a magical bomb that explodes after 4 seconds, dealing [1151 / 1163 / 1175 / 1188] Magic Damage to all enemies in the area. Each enemy within the bomb's radius increases the damage by 100%, including the original target.
Inevitable Detonation: Curse an enemy with a magical bomb that explodes after 4 seconds, dealing [1191 / 1205 / 1218 / 1230] Magic Damage to all enemies in the area. If the bomb is dispelled or removed early, the explosion is triggered immediately. Each enemy within the bomb's radius increases the damage by 100%.
Proximity Detonation: Casting Time: Instant, Duration: 8 seconds, Target: Area.
Activate a magical bomb on yourself that explodes after 8 seconds, dealing [1191 / 1205 / 1218 / 1230] Magic Damage to all enemies in the area. Each enemy within the bomb's radius increases the damage by 100%, including the original target.

Magicka Detonation curses an enemy, which will cause an explosion around them after 4 seconds, dealing heavy Magic Damage to them and any enemies near them. The more enemies that are near them, the greater the damage dealt to all targets. If you find yourself cursed with this effect, you should get as far away from your allies as possible to avoid heavily damaging yourself and them. The effect can be removed by various purifying effects, unless you use the Inevitable Detonation morph, which causes it to detonate immediately if the target or their allies attempt to remove it. Alternatively, the Proximity Detonation changes it to center around yourself instead of an enemy. It will take twice as long to detonate, allowing you to charge into the enemy ranks to affect as many targets as possible.

  • This ability was added to the game in Update 6.
  • This ability is the cornerstone of "bombing" in PvP, where it particularly excels against large densely-packed enemy groups (i.e. capturing a flag, standing near a battering ram, etc.).

  • Magicka Detonation (new ability)
    • Using this new ability will place a bomb on your target. After 4 seconds, the bomb will explode dealing high area of effect damage. This ability has a 2 second cast time.
    • Inevitable Detonation: This ability will deal area of effect damage if dispelled.
    • Proximity Detonation: This ability, cast upon yourself, will blow up and damage all nearby enemies after 4 seconds.
  • This ability now adds bonus damage for the amount of targets hit by it with 5% per target, up to a maximum of 25%.
  • Proximity Detonation: This ability is now an instant cast. We also increased the detonation time to 8 seconds, and reduced the damage by 28% to compensate.
  • Reduced the damage from this ability and its morphs by 15%.
  • Increased the amount of additional damage per hit to 10% additional damage per target hit from 5%
  • Increased the cap for the bonus damage to a total of 100% more damage done, from 25% more damage done.
  • Inevitable Detonation (Magicka Detonation morph): Fixed an issue where this morph's effect could not be purged or cleansed. It will continue to detonate immediately when it is removed early.
  • Reduced the damage of this ability and its morphs by 45%. They now deal 25% additional damage per target hit, up from 10%, and cap that bonus damage up to a total of 250% more damage done, up from 100% more damage done. The net result should be significantly less damage to 1 target, and slightly less damage to 10 targets.
  • Proximity Detonation: Fixed an issue where the red telegraph circle from this ability was remaining at the last seen spot the enemy player was before they became invisible. It will now also be invisible when the enemy player is invisible.
  • Reduced the cast time of this ability and the Inevitable Detonation morph to 1.5 seconds from 1.8 seconds.
  • Reduced the cast time of this ability and the Inevitable Detonation morph to 1 second from 1.5 seconds.
  • Increased the damage of all morphs by approximately 7% to ensure they deal our AoE damage standard.
  • Reduced the base cost of all morphs to 3510 from 4050.
  • Removed the maximum limit to the target scaling of these abilities so they may actually combat large groups of enemies for their intended design.
  • Reduced the base damage of this ability and its morphs by approximately 60%, but increased the scaling per target to 100%, up from 25%. The abilities will now deal less damage than a normal Area of Effect spammable until it hits 3 or more targets.
  • Updated the tooltip to state the scaling works on the initial target as well. This should reduce the potency of the skill against smaller groups, while still retaining its high damage against large ones.
  • Proximity Detonation (morph): Fixed an issue where this morph was not properly scaling with your Max Stamina if it was higher than your Max Magicka.
