Reformatting Tamriel Places Pages[edit]
I think we should do following to tamriel places articles:
- Each name should be linked with its personal page, like here is done with Ebonheart. By doing so, it will be easier to read the full article about a place + notes + a link to specific article inside a game.
- The images of already seen places must be available. Also, they are unique and won't be found in any future game.(e.g. with have article on Sea of Ghosts, which image can be found only on that page - should be present on Places S too).
Do you agree with this? Can I start changing Tamriel Places Pages according so? Monkeystyle 06:10, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
- I wouldn't link every page - just those where a lot of the content is being hidden by noinclude tags. Clicking on a link only to discover exactly the same content on the linked page would be rather frustrating. I'm not sure about including images for everywhere though. In the specific case of the Sea of Ghosts, I don't believe the image adds very much - it could be a picture of water pretty much anywhere. I'd limit it to images that make a clear difference to the page. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 06:22, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
- Of course, it would be unwise to link every page especially to stubs. I mean those, that provide links to a specific game. About the images, well, I don't understand what make a clear difference to the page. Does for example Ald'ruhn's image make sense being there? Yeah, picture of water bodies may be redundant, but how about images of cities and towns that we already have seen? Monkeystyle 18:06, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
- Okay, well that's not what you said. Anyway, with images - we obviously agree on the sort of image that's required so you get my vote. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 18:23, 19 June 2008 (EDT)
- Although I agree that having more images on pages such as Lore:Places A would be nice, any changes to the individual place pages (e.g., Lore:Ald Velothi, Lore:Anvil, Lore:Ashlands, etc.) have to be done with some care, because the individual place pages are transcluded into multiple places. Any changes made to the Tamriel pages will also show up on the game-specific versions of these pages (e.g., Morrowind:Ald Velothi, Oblivion:Anvil, Morrowind:Ashlands). Since the recent of edits have made the game-specific pages look worse (in general by causing the same image to be displayed twice on the game-specific page), I've been undoing the edits. It's not that I object to having the images displayed on Places_A: it's just the edits need to be done more carefully so that the net effect is an overall improvement to the wiki, not a marginal improvement in one place paired with a definite problem on another page. --NepheleTalk 19:29, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
