Walkthrough[edit]

Exterior[edit]

Outside the cave you will find two milk thistle plants. Depending on your choices in Ugly Love, you may find Dumrag gro-Morrg near the entrance, battling two ogres.

Underpall Cave[edit]

The graveyard by the keep

Upon entering, you will arrive in large room with a shallow lake and coffins and candles lining the sides of the cave. Three skeletons guard two corundum ore veins and a Scroll of Raise Zombie atop a crate a the far end of the room. You can reach two of the coffins on the north wall and another two on the south wall by jumping. One of the southern coffins is open and contains a coin purse and some gold. In the lake you will find another two coffins and a third, open coffin containing a skeleton corpse, an Iron Dagger of Chills, an amethyst, a potion of healing and a coin purse. By following a stony path by the southwestern wall you will reach a small room with a skeleton, a minor loot chest, potent frenzy poison, an iron ore vein and a coin purse.

Return to the lake and head east: you will soon arrive at a stone keep set in the rock. In front is a small graveyard full of nightshade, where three necromancers are praying. Behind them is an open coffin with the corpses of a bandit and a zombie. Dispatch the necromancers, which will probably attract another necromancer and a skeleton from inside the tower. The tower itself contains a few coffins, a potion of health, a leveled conjurer's potion, two leveled potions, two portions of nightshade, some gold and the door to the Keep.

In the main chamber before the tower there is a ledge running along the northeastern wall. You can jump up to it either just north of the entrance tunnel or by using an empty chest near the graveyard. Scrambling up and heading east will bring you to a ledge with a corundum ore vein, a potion of plentiful healing and some gold. Head into the nearby tunnel and dispatch a skeleton before arriving at an intersection. The northern tunnel leads to a small room with a skeleton and an iron ore on a stone ledge above it. The eastern tunnel leads to a door to the North Wing, which you can also use when returning from that zone. If returning from the South Wing, you will be able to jump down a ledge to the main chamber next to the tower.

Underpall Keep[edit]

The haunting corridor leading to the Fetid Lake

Immediately upon entering, head north through the nearby wooden door. Battle past three necromancers in a pantry room filled with food and drink, silver goblets, a shrine of Arkay and an apothecary's satchel. Press west and just before you reach some stairs, on your right you will find two Revenant necromancer robes and a potion of minor magicka in a pot. The final room is full of coffins, floor-level candles and burnt corpses; loot the knapsack, coffins and two leveled potions before heading to the Fetid Lake.

Track back to the entrance and head east, into a large room with a raised pillar. Defeat the two necromancers and the zombie here and pull the southwestern and northwestern levers to open all the nearby gates. Jump down into a open coffin on the western side of the pillar to access two leveled potions. Then head to the room's northeastern corner where inside a basket you will find a filled greater soul gem, two empty lesser gems and an empty petty gem. On top of a nearby chest of drawer you will find a filled petty soul gem and a Scroll of Reanimate Corpse. You know have two choices of passages, which each lead to a different zone.

The southern passage leads to the South Wing. After looting a nearby Apprentice-lock chest, fight past two necromancers and three rats, picking up a conjurer's potion and a few ingredients on the way. On the way to the next room are a Revenant necromancer mask and hood, as well as the corpses of a hunter and a Nord. In the final room you will find two necromancers, as well as a pile of half a dozen corpses which they may reanimate. These include two bandits, a fellow novice necromancer, a Breton, an Imperial, a Redguard and a Wood Elf. Also in the room are two Scroll of Raise Zombie and a Scroll of Dread Zombie. From here, you can head into the South Wing.

The northern passage leads instead to the door to the North Wing. Along the way you will find a table with some necromancer robes as well as a lesser soul gem and two petty gems (all empty) in the first room, and an open coffin with an empty gem in the second room.

Underpall Keep, North Wing[edit]

When entering from the Keep, the first room of the north wing is a fairly small square chamber, with passages, balconies and arches going all round. There are 3 rats, a skeleton, a zombie corpse, a coffin and a knapsack on the lower level; defeat the enemies and then head west and up the stairs to the second level. Kill the skeleton here and move east to reach the stairs to the third level, where another skeleton awaits. On the ledge to the south is a Scroll of Reanimate Corpse, while to the east is a zombie and a knapsack in a pot.

Press on and at the next intersection take the northern corridor to arrive in a room with a few coffins, the corpse of an Imperial, a malign lingering poison and a coin purse. Track back and head east through an open cage, slaying four rats along the way. press on east and past a room with some coffins and barrels (one of them containing rare ingredients) to arrive in a larger room with two rats, a burnt corpse and coffins set all over the walls. You can reach four of these by jumping. Head up the northern stairs and battle your way past another skeleton and two rats to reach the door back to the Cave.

Underpall Keep, South Wing[edit]

You will first emerge in a small graveyard with a few nightshade plants and candles before arriving at some living quarters protected by a wooden palisade. Here you will find four beds, two bedrolls, two necromancers (often asleep), a few portions of nightshade, two leveled potions and a coin purse. Head south and then east, over a stone bridge guarded by a necromancer. You will likely alert enemies in the room below, so be ready to fight two more necromancers and five rats. Cross the bridge, avoiding the chimes nearby and head south to a room hosting a necromancer and a rat as well as a bookcase hosting a potion of minor healing and a potion of minor magicka. Through some broken bars you can reach an area with a few coffins and two corpses. A potion of minor healing and a potion of minor magicka can be found on a bookcase. From here you have three options, all of which lead to the final room to the west.

The first is to jump down into the room below the bridge, where you will find two rats, a couple of coffins and urns and two burnt corpses. The next room is also the one you reach by choosing the second option and heading north down some stairs. From here head east towards an unlocked iron gate; nearby are a necromancer and two ingredient barrels. Past the gate is a small lake with a rocky ledge hugging its side. The lake itself has a submerged chest; loot it and dispatch the patrolling necromancer nearby on the way to the final room, where you will emerge on the lower level.

The third option is to press on south, at which point you will quickly arrive at an intersection. Head up the stairs to the east and you will encounter two necromancers and arrive on the upper level of the final room, from which you can snipe at the necromancers below before jumping down. If you instead take the southern passage, you will arrive in a corridor patrolled by a necromancer. There are three rooms along the way: the first hosts a necromancer and the rare book Murder and Mayhem: A Practical Guide, the second nothing of note, while in the third are two rats, a leveled potion and a potion of minor magicka. At the end of the corridor you arrive at the final room, which hosts three necromancers, an Adept-level chest and three leveled potions. There is also a table with food, drink and an Argonian bandit's corpse.

Near the final room, at the end of the corridor, you will also come across a key-requiring door. During the related quest, the Undead Servitor will be standing in front of it and will open it for you. He will lead you to Alavva Venucius's lair, which also holds four dead zombies, a boss chest, a black soul gem, a filled common soul gem, two petty gems (one filled), two Scrolls of Turn Greater Undead (one in a pot) and a Scroll of Dead Thrall.

Finally, from the final room head east into an area with a few coffins, a chest and an Orc corpse before reaching the door back to the Cave.

The fetid lake

Underpall, Fetid Lake[edit]

When entering from the Keep, you will notice you are back in a cave now. Dispatch the skeleton in the first room and loot a couple of coffins. There are tunnels heading both north and south. The former takes you to the northern shore of the lake, which is patrolled by a skeleton. The latter allows you to emerge directly behind an unholy altar and the zone's only necromancer. On the altar you will find a flawless ruby, a potent paralysis poison, an iron dagger and some gold. A Dark Elf bandit's corpse is nearby. There are two further chests on the shore south of the altar, guarded by a zombie. The lake itself holds three slaughterfish, a submerged chest (northeast corner), a few coffins, two floating zombie corpses, six clams, thirteen slaughterfish egg nests and twenty-five nordic barnacle clusters.
