Vindare the Magnificent

Vindare the Magnificent is a High Elf magician who works for Sarandel's carnival along with her assistant, Sulimir. Sarandel notes that it's obligatory for her to be referred to as 'Vindare the Magnificent', as it's written in her contract. She can initially be found at her tent.

Cornar the shalk trainer and Noryon the storyteller find themselves unable to perform and Vindare is suffering from issues too, as her nearly impregnable trunk of Magical Supplies hasn't been delivered from Haven. She tasks you with recovering the supplies - but not the trunk itself, you may not have a soul but you still need an unbroken back - from Haven's docks. Once they have been recovered, Vindare will be delighted and immediately walk to the stage to weave a little narrative magic with Sulimir.

Quest-Related Dialogue

Before you start the quest, she will say:

"I'm not performing at the moment. I'm sure Sarandel could inform you of the carnival's schedule."

If you've spoken to Sarandel, you can tell her you've come to help:

"I hope you didn't travel from far away just to see Vindare the Magnificent. I am not performing at present.

My magic cannot function safely in front of a crowd. The, uh, stars are out of alignment."

Sarandel said I should speak with you about your problem.

"Oh did she? Did she also tell you how she promised that we'd make ten times our normal take by coming to this godforsaken backwater?
Did she mention how she said shipping my supplies wouldn't be an issue?"

You're having issues with shipping your supplies?

"The shipping was fine, it's the delivery where it fell apart.
My belongings arrived at the docks of Haven without incident. But due to the recent problems in the city, no one has any idea when deliveries will resume."

So your supplies are sitting on the docks of Haven?

"As far as I'm aware, yes. They're in the nicest-looking trunk on the dock. I had it touched up by a painter in Mathiisen, you know.
But with the pirate attack, who knows when Haven will be stable enough to deliver their backlog of shipments."

What if I retrieved your trunk?

"I couldn't ask you to lug that heavy monstrosity all the way here. It's triple-reinforced steel, with an inch-thick lead interior. Discourages my competition from snooping.
I just need the supplies inside. If you wouldn't mind, of course."

I don't mind. I'll retrieve your supplies.

If spoken to before heading out, she'll ask:

"Any luck with the supplies? They should still be in Haven."

When you return, she'll be cautiously optimistic:

"Do you have them? You have them, don't you?
Oh, I shouldn't get my hopes up. They fell in the sea, didn't they? I knew it, I have the worst luck."

Here, I have your supplies.

"Wonderful, that's everything I need! Once Haven gets its act together, they can deliver an empty trunk.
You're welcome to stay for the show. Sit wherever you like!"

I might see your show.

"You won't regret it! Unless you hate stage performances. Then you'll regret it.
But hopefully you'll enjoy it!"

You can then take in one of Vindare the Magnificent's shows with her and Sulimir:

Vindare the Magnificent: "Welcome, everyone! I am Vindare the Magnificent."

Vindare the Magnificent: "And now, I'd like everyone to meet my assistant, Sulimir. Come on out!."

Sulimir: "Did someone call my name?"

Vindare the Magnificent: "Sulimir, say hello to the crowd!"

Sulimir: "To these bumpkins? I'd rather eat grass."

Vindare the Magnificent: "What an awful thing to say, here in Grahtwood!"

Vindare the Magnificent: "But perhaps there's a way we can accommodate you."

Sulimir: "What are you doing? No!"

<Vindare transforms Sulimir into a goat>

Vindare the Magnificent: "That's better, isn't it?"

Vindare the Magnificent: "You know, I think he's less stubborn this way."

Vindare the Magnificent: "All right, I suppose we've had our fun. Time to restore my assistant."

Vindare the Magnificent: "Sulimir, return to your true nature!"

<Sulimir is transformed into a Dremora>

Sulimir the Villainous Dremora: "You fool! You've foiled my plans, and revealed my true form to everyone in this wretched land!"

Vindare the Magnificent: "Sulimir, you were a Dremora all along? I won't allow you harm these fine people!"

Sulimir the Villainous Dremora: "You think you can stop me?"

<Sulimir then traps Vindare with magic>

Vindare the Magnificent: "No, release me!"

Sulimir the Villainous Dremora: "And now, for the rest of you!"

Vindare the Magnificent: "You forgot one thing, foul creature."

Sulimir the Villainous Dremora: "What might that be, mortal?"

Vindare the Magnificent: "The people of Grahtwood are closely tied to the forest itself. And you cannot withstand the might of the Green Pact!"

Sulimir the Villainous Dremora: "This can't be happening! The Green Pact isn't real!"

Vindare the Magnificent: "It's real enough to kick you back into the pit from which you crawled!"

Vindare the Magnificent: "Everyone, bind your will to mine! Together we can banish him!"

Sulimir the Villainous Dremora: "No, not back to Oblivion!"

Vindare the Magnificent: "With your help, we've banished the foul Dremora! Behold the might of the Green Pact."

Vindare the Magnificent: "I hope everyone enjoyed the show!"
