Quest-Related Events

Prior to starting the quest, he'll only say:

"Forgive me, but I must tend to my flock. Sarandel should be able to answer any questions you have about her carnival."

Once you've agreed to help Sarandel, he'll have more to say:

"Look at them, limbs so sluggish and carapaces dreadfully dull. When you've raised the shalks since they were pupae, it gnaws at your heart to see them so listless."

What's wrong with your bugs?

"They're having trouble managing the local grass, so I've put them on an all-hay diet. And the climate, it's more humid than they're used to in Summerset.
If I didn't know any better, I'd say they were homesick."

Is there anything that would help?

"When they were younger, I'd grind mudcrab eyes into paste and give it to them as a treat. I think it would raise their spirits again.
But nobody sells mudcrab eyes, and I can't leave my shalks to fade away while I scour the coasts."

What if I brought you mudcrab eyes?

"I would forever be in your debt, my friend. A dozen would be enough to go around, if you wouldn't mind.
And I won't mind if they're a little mashed when I get them. Saves me some work!"

Speak to him before leaving and he'll add:

"Good luck finding the mudcrab eyes!
Only if you have the time. I realize it's not the most glamorous request."

Return with the Mudcrab Eye and you can say:

Here are your mudcrab eyes.

"Would you look at that! Just the smell of the things seems to have perked them up. I'll see if I can use them to motivate my little friends."

Cornar will then begin his show:

Cornar: "I'm Cornar, a bug wrangler. What does that mean? Perhaps my little friends here can show you. Now … defend the perimeter!"

<The Shalk take up defensive points around the pen looking outward>

Cornar: "Return to positions!"

<The Shalk go to their casual milling about in the pen>

Cornar: "Around the world!"

<The Shalk form a train and walk through the crowd>

Cornar: "Return to positions!"

<The Shalk go to their casual milling about in the pen>

Cornar: "Show us your Dwarf impression!"

<The Shalk hide behind nearby landmarks>

Cornar: "Return to positions!"

<The Shalk go to their casual milling about in the pen>

Cornar: "And now, my minions … surround the intruders!"

<The Shalk take aggressive positions at various carnival goers>

Cornar: "A joke, everyone! They are completely harmless … unless you're a blade of grass. Move on back, my pets!"

<The Shalk go to their casual milling about in the pen>

Cornar: "That's our show, everyone! My little friends here need a short rest before their next performance. Please enjoy the rest of Sarandel's Carnival!"

Cornar cannot be spoken to after this and he'll repeat his show every few minutes.
