Deepscorn Hollow not Loading[edit]

Heya Gents. I went and bought all the DLC for my PC version of Oblivion, the whole package deal yea? Anyhoo, seems all the other official plug-in's loaded, and got the keys for all the other insta get quests, save the Vile Lair. Any suggestions? — Unsigned comment by Arcadiuman (talkcontribs) on 6 April 2009

When you first load the game, try clicking on "Data Files" and making sure all the boxes are checked. It's possible the Vile Lair plugin didn't get activated for some reason. –RpehTCE 04:25, 6 April 2009 (EDT)
Checked, with its little x, tried loading the game without it, then saving, then loading the game with it, its like its not there. — Unsigned comment by Arcadiuman (talkcontribs) on 6 April 2009
Okay, that's odd... What happens when you head to the location of Deepscorn Hollow? Is the hidden entrance there or not? What about Rowley Eardwulf? It might just be that the quest didn't trigger for some reason, in which case heading to the Hollow might work. –RpehTCE 05:46, 6 April 2009 (EDT)
The quest won't activate until after you've left The Sanctum, so if you're still there, that may be why. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 18:14, 6 April 2009 (EDT)
Make sure that you have installed the latest patch. I had this exact same problem. I installed the latest patch and Started up Oblivion. All of a sudden I get 2 quests: Mehrunes Razor and Deepscorn Hollow. Try it out, and tell me if it works. Cartuner55512 08:43, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Yup, if the mod isn't even loading up when you start Oblivion, that's probably it. Mods made with a newer version of the construction set won't load on older versions of Oblivion. It's intentional, but you'd think it was a glitch, because you do not get a pop-up about it, or anything. -Weroj 15:59, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

I don't have the buy option from the guy who upgrades the hollow[edit]

I did all the stuff to get the quest going but when I went to buy the upgrades, the guy didn't have a buy option, so obviously I can't get any of the upgrades. was there anything I missed?... — Unsigned comment by 97.117.98.29 (talk)

He only trades while sitting on the stairs, as noted on his NPC page. --Gaebrial 08:32, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Shadowmere Effected by Plugin?[edit]

I just downloaded this today off of Xbox Live (I am obviosly on the 360 version) and i noticed that Shadowmere's left eye is now completely out of her head, but still moves in correspondance with her body. Could this be caused by the recent addition of the plugin? If so how would I fix this? Her right eye is completely fine, but for some reason her left eyeball is out of socket and floating beside her head. It looks quite odd and annoying, but doesn't actually present any gameplay problems (so far). Help would be appreciated.--Blktiger0 23:26, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I doubt the plugin would be the cause for that. Have you tried leaving Shadowmere, travelling some distance away, and returning? Forcing the game to reload her model might solve the issue. --Timenn-<talk> 09:43, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
ive downloaded the Plugin for the Xbox 360 and this bug dosent' affect shadowmare on me at all on any of my saves Liam head 13:50, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

They should have rebuilt the house[edit]

I think that would have been cool to have a house right above Deepscorn Hollow instead of a burnt down one with like a secret entrance to the lair in like the basement and having cimson scar bodyguards patrolling up their that would have been epic.— Unsigned comment by Pufddybutrbisct (talkcontribs) at 00:11 on 22 July 2009 (UTC)

This comment would be great for the Tes4Mod:Mod_Ideas|Mod Ideas page or the forum. --Darth NANAME 00:11, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Egh I play on the 360 so theirs really no way it happening for me I just thought it would have been a good idea. — Unsigned comment by Pufddybutrbisct (talkcontribs) at 01:09 on 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Infinite Crimson Raiments?[edit]

Just finished buying all the upgrades for Deepscorn Hollow, checked the bedroom to get the crimson raiment, took it out of Greywyn's Armoire, all fine so far. Turned around and opened the Armoire again and their was a second Raiment inside. Took that and repeated approx 8 times. Left Deepscorn Hollow and sold all of them to Rowley Eardwulf. Returned and repeated. Seems to be infinitely respawning. I'm playing on the PC with all plugins, UOP, UOMP. Anyone else noticed this?

Safe container on the isle?[edit]

I tried to find it somewhere else- but it is not listed in the safe containers list. The chest, in the little isle where the burnt remains of the house are, is it safe?--Candex 13:48, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

If you can't find info on the wiki, the best thing to do is to gather the info yourself, and then provide it in an appropriate place on the wiki to help others. It's what we're all about.  :)
To test this, use an item you don't care about losing and place it in the container. Leave the cell for 72 hours, perhaps a little more just to be on the safe side, and return to see if the item is still there. If it is, the container is non-respawning and so is safe for long-term storage. --GKtalk2me 22:46, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Or, you could just save and then reload afterwards.Bllasae 03:15, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Safe containers?[edit]

Which containers in the house are safe? This plug-in seems to be the only one without a list of the safe containers available. TakaRai 15:13, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

As with all houses the player can buy, all containers are safe.--Corevette789 15:16, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

The only un-safe containers in deepscorn hollow are the pureblood salt crystal formations. Everything else is okay though.19:14, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Be careful if you install the UOMP. Activating the unofficial vile lair patch makes Greywyn's Armoire unsafe. ThuumofReason 20:54, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Paralyzing the Prisoner[edit]

(moved from the article)

It is impossible to feed on him while he is standing up, and you still cannot talk to him, paralyzing him again may make him return to the sleeping position however.

I deleted the part about him going back to sleep again because it's not right. Once the prisoner is awake, he'll stay awake and nothing will get him back to sleep again. The only exception is if the Unoffical Official Mods Patch (UOMP) is installed. I tested this several times in-game. rpeh •TCE 16:03, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
:I used a destruction spell on him and he woke up instantly. However after I waited for an hour he went back to sleep.

Vampirism[edit]

Just wondering, is it possible to regain vampirism with the coffin? I lost all my saves, and I'm considering Vampirism, but I want to be able to change back and forth if need be. Pretty much, I want to have my cake and eat it too. Any previous knowledge on this would be great. I will test it out once I have enough money to buy the coffin (just started a new game), but was just wondering if there was previous knowledge to confirm or deny this. --208.88.221.105 18:20, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

It is impossible to become a Vampire after being cured, either through the quest line or by the DLC. --DKong27 Talk Cont 18:26, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
And I just realized now that the coffin is not giving me vampirism, or Porphyric Hemophilia to change into a vampire. I thought I had read somewhere that sleeping in the coffin makes you contract the disease. Oh well.
Whilst we're on the subject, it says the font of renewal allows you to do the Cure Vampirism Quest while not a vampire - does this mean that if you start the quest, use the font to cure yourself, then complete the quest, you can use Hassildir's hidden option to make yourself a vampire again? Apollo Quinn 10:22, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
I've marked this as a Good Question for now. It definitely needs elaboration, but I've never done it myself so I don't know if I can help. rpeh •TCE 10:37, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
I'd try it myself, but I lack the Micro$oft points :( Apollo Quinn 11:42, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
No, I have a save file where I started the vampire cure quest but halfway through I used the purgeblood salt to cure me. The quest went ahead as normal and the Count gave me the usual reward of money. Now the potion to cure vampirism in my inventory is undroppable and has no use other than to restore 500 health. I'm playing on the Xbox 360 so it might work differently on PC. (sorry about the long yellow box)79.97.40.245 15:32, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

() Looking through the CS it appears that there are 3 options. They are used if 1. You are cured, 2. You are infected, or 3. If you have never been a vampire. The third is the vampire gift option, but it only applies to players never turned into a Vampire. The Global Variable PCVampire has 3 states, 0 for non infected, 1 for infected, and -1 for Cured. It checks for 0, but any Cure brings you to -1. I am so awesome. :p --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 18:14, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

On one of my other save files though I can't even start the quest because I cured myself before it began... 79.97.40.245 18:52, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
It still applies that you can only begin the quest as a Vampire. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 20:53, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
Exactly. I don't think we'll ever get that third option...79.97.40.245 21:02, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Garden of Venomgrowth[edit]

All but the tree and the chokeberry vines in the garden of venomgrowth are nonexistant to me. I've bought that garden. Does anyone else have this/know how to fix it? — Unsigned comment by 66.26.250.215 (talk) at 04:51 on 8 May 2011 (GMT)

Are these things worth noting?[edit]

3 things I have here , which I want to run through with you guys first , 1) Is that there is a daedra heart in the bedroom are , 2) Is the armour in the wardrobe which belonged to the original owner (his name always slips my mind) and 3) The fact that the Dark Minion can also be found tending the garden once you have it installed. JackTurbo95 19:05, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

The Daedra Heart isn't that important unless the place gets a full description of all the items found within (or unless the heart respawns, which I don't think it does). Greywyn's Armoire (the wardrobe) is already noted on the page. The note on the Dark Minion is for the schedule on his NPC page, and isn't relevant to the place. --Legoless 20:17, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
But should the daedra heart be noted on the daedra heart page for location to find one? JackTurbo95 07:34, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Daedra hearts can be bought from alchemy shops and found on the corpses of some Daedra.RIM 09:16, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
But it is a place where you can get a daedra hearts , from level 12 daedra hearts can be found in shops , but you can get this as long as you have the plug-in. JackTurbo95 12:24, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
A note could be added on the Daedra heart section of the ingredients page if it is not already I guess.RIM 16:41, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Agreed, it would be worth noting on the ingredient page, as there are only 4 samples available in the vanilla game. --Legoless 16:49, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
I added it. I would also like to ask if they patched the fact that you can train sneak from the prisoner , because I left my game on and in sneak mode for 30 minutes and my sneak skill didn't go up... JackTurbo95 07:33, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I think it probably was fixed,or glitched from another add-on as is the case with add-ons. Try sneaking behind Arquen, she never moves. Also, just on the off chance that you don't know, you have to be moving to gain sneak xp.RIM 21:19, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Respawning Nirnroot[edit]

Hey fellow editors, I believe it is very noteworthy that the desk in the Bastion alchemy lab holds the only respawning Nirnroot sample anywhere in game. I believe this bit of information to be totally in step with the spirit of our amazing resource here. I ask for 1) verification that I am not nuts, and it is indeed the only respawning sample, and 2) concurrence that this is noteworthy to others here. Thanks! Crayolamanic (talk) 21:07, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Yes, that's correct, and it's already noted on this page and the Nirnroot page. It could certainly be highlighted more, e.g. with a note on Oblivion:Seeking Your Roots? —Legoless (talk) 21:15, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
I read through the page a few times and missed it, probably because I was expecting it to be in a different section. My bad. Thanks, Legoless. Apologies for time wasted. Crayolamanic (talk) 21:28, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
No worries. I've gone ahead and added a note to the quest walkthrough. —Legoless (talk) 12:14, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
