Stonetalon Clan Encampment

The Stonetalon Clan was one of the clans of Reachfolk that lived in the Reach, a region in western Skyrim during the Interregnum in the Second Era. Although the Reachfolk of the Stonetalon Clan were known to be more aggressive than many Reachfolk clans, who traded with their neighbors peacefully, they were noted to be more passive than Rageclaws and Boneshapers, and exhibited several particular and combative behaviors. They were a matriarchal clan, but their women were rarely seen. While rare, they were known for their advanced, powerful magic and heavy cloaks made of bird feathers.[1]

It was theorized that they were passing through a series of trials, though the purpose of those trials was unknown to certain scholars.[1] In reality, they were one of the rare clans closely affiliated with the Hagravens.[2][3][4]

Matriarch Kasmira

Under the leadership of chieftain Vivian Witchclaw,[5][6] they allied with two other Reachfolk clans: the Boneshapers and the Rageclaws, and signed the treaty on 3rd of the Frost Fall in 2E 582.[7] The clans aligned themselves with the Cult of the Black Worm, which promised power and blessings of Molag Bal.[8][9][10] and invaded the Rift in 2E 582.[5] At that time Matriarch Kasmira presided over the clan Hagravens, but her exact role in the politics and management of the clan was unclear.[11][3]

During the invasion their allies of the Boneshaper and Rageclaw Clans surrounded the Shor's Stone, choked off passage between Stony Basin and the Riften valley,[5] kidnapped local miners, and used tunnels as a site for their rituals for the resurrection of Sinmur's spirit,[12][13][14] and stormed the Fallowstone Hall and stole the legendary Wuuthrad, which was necessary for the completion of the rites.[15][16][17] The Stonetalons captutred the Northwind Mine and took their prisoners there, where their eyes were being consumed by the Hagravens associated with their clan. They hoped to establish a hagraven coven in the mine.[4][2][18] The King's Arrow, together with an agent of the Pact, Tovisa infiltrated the mines, killed the heiress Alona, who was following orders of Thallik Wormfather and Stral Blackthroat, as well as Dyta, Jadwiga and Matriarch Kasmira, the trio of Hagravens who resided there. Stonetalons were successfully driven off and the hagravens killed, although Tovisa was captured and ritually blinded in the process.[2][3][4]

Ultimately the Reachmen alliance was defeated, however. Their allied forces, led by Stral Blackthroat were vanquished in the Vernim Woods,[19] and their attack on the Boulderfall Pass was stopped.[20] Stonetalon chieftain Vivian, together with other clan leaders was defeated by the King's Arrow at the encampment west of Boulderfall Pass, as per request of dying Ebonheart Pact soldier Melril.[21][22] The clan remained active, but their invasion of the Rift was thwarted.[19][23] Worm Cult persisted after the defeat of the Reachfolk, but they were also defeated eventually.[24]

Later, during the same year, some members of the clan, including Allunen Stoneshaper occupied secluded sewer systems in an unknown city. They used them to store and hide their treasures. They were among the targets of the Thieves Guild, and the guild organized at least two heists, in hopes to steal their valuables.[25][26][27]
