Nagastani is an Ayleid ruin located between the Imperial City and Cheydinhal, in the Sejanus Hunting Grounds of Cyrodiil's Heartlands.[1][2] It was once the site of an "ancient evil" that permeated that ground, with the area surrounding it being devoid of life.[3]

During the Alliance War of 2E 582, a contingent of Shadowed Path necromancers led by Alma Desticus were ordered by Dreadlord Naucratius to travel to the ancient ruins and rout or corrupt any who resided there, turning them into undead. They were to build an army with the plans of capturing the nearby Blue Road Keep when the Dreadlord called the signal.[3] The ancient evil within the ruins was still present, as all nearby plantlife was dead and the grounds were filled with the bones of many beings, including mammoths.[4]

Circa 3E 433, the ruins had opened and the subterranean passages swarmed with monsters and undead. By that time the grounds had become much more lively and had a fair amount of plantlife.[5]
