Harm's Folly

Harm's Folly is a small farming settlement located in Cyrodiil, far to the northwest of Cheydinhal. It is located on the foothills of the Jerall Mountains, in a region of the Great Forest which has been cleared for agriculture around Lake Rumare.[1][2]

History[edit]

The future site of Harm's Folly was unoccupied circa 2E 582.[3]

By the end of the Third Era, Harm's Folly consisted of a single farmhouse. The farmhouse was home to a Breton farmer, Corrick Northwode, and his wife, Kayleen. In 3E 433, Corrick departed Harm's Folly to purchase supplies, leaving his wife alone on the farm. The Goblins that inhabited a nearby spent mine named Exhausted Mine chose this as their opportunity to attack Harm's Folly, killing Kayleen and looting her jade amulet. Corrick, having heard his wife's screams from afar, arrived back too late to save her and subsequently buried her in a grave behind the farmhouse.[4]

Barely a week after the attack, the Hero of Kvatch arrived at Harm's Folly and spoke to Corrick. In his grief, Corrick asked the Hero to enter Exhausted Mine, kill every last Goblin within, and recover the stolen amulet. The Hero duly exacted Corrick's revenge and retrieved Kayleen's amulet from the corpse of the Goblin Netherboss, providing the widower with something to remember her by. For this service, Corrick rewarded the Hero with gems, and Kayleen's spirit blessed the Hero with her grace for paying respects at her gravesite.[5]

During the Oblivion Crisis, two Oblivion Gates opened close to Harm's Folly, but the farm was unaffected.[6]
