Welcome[edit]

Hello Oscararon! Welcome to the wiki. I hope you enjoy using the site and find the information on it useful. If you decide you want to help improve any of our pages, we're always welcoming to new editors so feel free. You might want to look at our Getting Started page for some tips on how to begin, then play in our Sandbox for a while to practice. If you need any help or advice, please ask one of our mentors. Enjoy! –RpehTCE 04:14, 2 February 2008 (EST)

Swedish template[edit]

I noticed you made a change to the User Swedish template, but then opted not to use it. Is it because you wanted to change the text? If so, there's a feature of this and other nationality templates to do that. Just type:

{{User Swedish|text=This user lives in and is from Sweden}}

and you'll get:

Flag Sweden.png This user lives in and is from Sweden

You can also change the colors of the Userbox without altering the template by providing your own colors, e.g.:

{{User Swedish|blue|orange|white|text=This user lives in and is from Sweden}}
Flag Sweden.png This user lives in and is from Sweden

Just an example, you can also use hex-codes like #0000FF to get more specific colors. At any rate, if you use the default template instead of creating your own, you'll also get added to the Users from Sweden category, where you'll find other people (well, currently only one) using the template. Anyhow, just letting you know. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. --TheRealLurlock Talk 13:20, 4 February 2008 (EST)

Ah, okay... thanks then! --Sir Walter Thibault 13:46, 9 February 2008 (EST)

Edit War[edit]

Could you please stop replacing the Invisible Pink Unicorn image? The image was uploaded by HMSVictory for his userpage. While you are free to use the image yourself, changing it also affects other people's userpages. This is not an image used in an article that can freely be replaced (if it is a better or more accurate image). If you want to use your own image, you are free to upload a seperate one yourself.

I'm reverting the image to the original version again. --Timenn < talk > 12:26, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

Actually, I am fully aware of that fact, I changed it to the actual icon of the Invisible Pink Unicorn and I have made a User template for it... so I am reverting your edit again then... and no, I am NOT a vandal. --Lord Walter Thibault 12:33, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
Don't. Upload it under a different name and adjust your template accordingly, please. –RpehTCE 12:46, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
Okay, my message was too late. I'm reverting it once more. As I said, if you want to use a different image, upload it under a different name. –RpehTCE 12:52, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
K... but I think he could use the template as I made it so people could use it. --Lord Walter Thibault 13:06, 2 September 2008 (EDT)

This is Too Much[edit]

I'm sorry but this latest set of redirects, indicating a whole load more personal pages are about to be created, is too much. So far you have made 181 edits, of which only one has been on a page in the main site. All the others have been to your user page, templates for use on your user page or questions on talk pages about your user page.

We don't discourage people from having pages of their own but when you find yourself making this many edits unrelated to the main site, you have to ask if you're in the right place. Perhaps a MySpace page would be more appropriate for what you're trying to do?

If you want to make all these new pages, that's fine. But please at least use plan your layout in advance and use the Show Preview button to stop making so many edits. Your constant editing of pages unrelated to the main site is becoming disruptive, and may lead to an official warning if it doesn't change. –RpehTCE 10:03, 3 September 2008 (EDT)

I'm sorry but I'm using the Show preview button very often since I learnt that the was one and if you could see how many times I've pressed that button... I think you would faint... but I am actually not only editing my user page, I make some new user templates (XD =P) and do some other things too... the reason I am not making so many other edits are that I once screwed up on another wiki a long time ago... but I'll try to edit... I have just become, you know... scared of editing important pages. But I'll try to change that from now on. Hmm, maybe I could look for some problems in some of the lore pages... very well, you have helped me with some of my fear of editing. Thanks alot! =D --Lord Walter Thibault 10:13, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
Now I've started editing other pages, but if I can be done with my character pages I can think of something else than those =) With all your respect, --Lord Walter Thibault 11:02, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
Please! Stop editing other people's userpages. This is simply not done. If you want to have something changed on someone's userpage, you can ask them to change it theirself on their talk page. Only in extreme circumstances is it allowed to edit someone else's userpage. --Timenn < talk > 11:07, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
This also goes for any sandboxes, sub-pages or fanfiction pages of other editors.--LordDagon 11:09, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
... Did you even read the summary? I was replacing the old Holy Crusader image with the new Divine Crusader one. And when I asked on the talk page of it a long time ago someone (I think it was Nephele) said I should replace the old file with the new one on all of the pages using it, so what did I do now? Exactly as it was supposed to be done... I have also proposed the old one to be deleted... Do you understand now? --Lord Walter Thibault 11:12, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
Aside from my idea that "Divine" and "Holy" Crusader are the same, you simply NEVER edit other people's user pages. Doesn't matter if you are replacing an old image; you simply don't edit user pages that aren't your own. The only thing you can do is leave a note on their talk pages.--LordDagon 11:17, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
Okay, okay, I didn't know I was doing anything wrong, I mean I know it's wrong to edit someone elses userpage but this is what I was told to do so I did it, and I saw the discussion page now and it was you, Rpeh who told me to do so! After this I'm sure you didn't know the image was used on userpages but I didn't want to do anything wrong, I just tried to help on the wiki... --Lord Walter Thibault 11:21, 3 September 2008 (EDT)

Well, this is the proof if you'd like. "How can I change the name of the image? The rank is called Divine Crusader, not Holy... so I thought I could change it... --Lord Walter Thibault 14:14, 16 August 2008 (EDT)

You can't. We have to delete one image and upload another. If you think it's necessary, upload another image with the correct name, then change every page that links to the old one, then use the {{proposeddeletion}} tag to indicate that an admin should delete the old image. It's a bit longwinded but does the job. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 14:22, 16 August 2008 (EDT)" --Lord Walter Thibault 11:23, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
Yeah okay, I oversimplified. From now on, do NOT edit other users' pages. –RpehTCE 12:02, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
Thank you very much. With all respect, --Lord Walter Thibault 12:03, 3 September 2008 (EDT)

What is an "edit war"?[edit]

Looking through your recent edits, I feel that it might be beneficial for us to have a conversation. On Oblivion:Knights of the Nine, you replaced an image, and Rpeh reverted your edit. At that point, if you disputed the revert, the appropriate course of action would have been to begin a discussion on that article's discussion page, Oblivion talk:Knights of the Nine. In reverting Rpeh's edit without discussing why, you began an edit war, and this is the reason that Rpeh did not re-revert your edit; that would have been continuing the edit war. Although I understand your argument, whether I agree or not, an edit war is unacceptable and is grounds for blocking. I hope you'll keep this in mind in the future. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with and most importantly, have fun! Happy editing! --GuildKnightTalk2me 15:40, 4 September 2008 (EDT)

Oh, and one more small tip... If you'd like to link to an image without displaying the image, just add a colon (:) before the namespace, like this: New one
Ah, thanks very much! Rock on, Lord Walter T-C-W 11:07, 5 September 2008 (EDT)

Signature[edit]

Hi Oscaron,

As the title may suggest, this message concerns your signature. It is, quite simply, too long. 769 characters, to be exact. Wikipedia's signature policy has a strict limit of 255 characters and when UESP doesn't have its own policy on a specific matter, it falls back on wikipedia's policies. Here's a related discussion, if you're interested.

You may be able to simplify it to get under the limit, but I'm not sure whether that's possible in this case. My advice would be to remove the link names for a start, then see where that gets you. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 10:26, 5 September 2008 (EDT)

Hehe, I'm working on it... Rock on, Lord Walter T-C-W 14:23, 6 September 2008 (EDT)

Account Name[edit]

If you would prefer your account to be named Walter Thibault, it would be much less confusing if you would get your account renamed. You can post a request for Daveh to rename your account; you just need to provide him with the new name that you would like to use. Otherwise, signing your posts with a name that is completely unrelated to your user account name causes unnecessary confusion, and is potentially against the Signature Guidelines, which state that:

...it is common practice for a signature to resemble to some degree the username it represents.

Thanks. --NepheleTalk 22:11, 7 September 2008 (EDT)

Is this okay? Rock on, OA (Lord WalterT-C-W) 10:58, 8 September 2008 (EDT)
Your username is "Oscararon" but your signature says "Lord Walter", so... no, it's not alright. As Nephele has already pointed out, if you want to rename your account, you should post a request on Daveh's talk page. –RpehTCE 12:16, 8 September 2008 (EDT)
=) Rock on, OscarAronT-C-W 12:53, 8 September 2008 (EDT)

Rank Userboxes[edit]

I would like to inform you that one or more Userboxes you are currently using on your Userpage has/have been replaced by a generic Rank Userbox. Consensus is to delete the old userboxes after a week from now. Check the new Template for details on how to modify your Userboxes. --Timenn < talk > 10:34, 15 September 2008 (EDT)

Ah, I think I know what you mean, but it is because you can't edit the text on the original userboxes, so I use the codes on my page instead, but thanks anyway =) Rock on, OscarAronT-C-W 11:09, 15 September 2008 (EDT)

Ignoring Wiki Syntax[edit]

Hi Oscaron, i noticed the message you posted here a while ago where you said you did not know how how to "make that... code thingy... " basiccly the way you do that is by putting <nowiki></nowiki> tags around the line you want to post, this means that the wiki software will ignore any formatting instructions within those tags. So

User-userbox-Invisible Pink Unicorn Logo.jpg This user thanks the Invisible Pink Unicorn for her vast knowledge.

will be displayed as {{User IPU}} without any problems

Hope that helps --216.82.251.227 05:12, 16 October 2008 (EDT)
