Doesn't go hunting[edit]

i don't know if it's a bug/glitch with the game but Nazir informs you that he runs a stall in Whiterun but retreats to hunt in the plains...I waiting 7 days in a row following this fool and all he did was go back and forth from the inn to his stall and back...I happened to do another quest for the town in Whiterun making me "Thane". I haven't done anything in the town prior so I sneaked followed him back to the inn, sword at the ready and the second it said hidden, BAM throat slice! The guards stop me but I said "I'm the Thane" and they are like "oh sorry, don't let it happen again!" and no harm done! If Anoriath is bugged, like he was for me (he was invisible in whiterun's rendered far-away scenery), Open console> tcl > Fly to him, > Killallactors — Unsigned comment by 93.75.17.217 (talk) at 09:49 on 20 November 2011
I also never got him to leave town, nor could I kill him without incurring a bounty. When I first got this quest, I looked at my map to see where all the various quest pointers were, and the one pointing to him was some distance west of the Whiterun Stables. I didn't actually observe him outside of town, by the time I got to Whiterun he was at his stall, but I thought I'd mention it... Obax (talk) 19:13, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Assassination in The Drunken Huntsmen[edit]

During night Anoriath will sleep in the first floor. However, Elrindir may follow you into the room no matter you are in the hiding status or visible. I fixed this by using Mass Paralysis scroll. Freeze him in the up stairs. Then there is no bounty occurred. I think Paralyze(Alteration spell) could work, too. 72.193.0.57 23:17, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Elrindir attitude change[edit]

After killing Anoriath (while he was sleeping in the Drunken Huntsman), it seems that the speeches of Elrindir have changed. All dialogue actions are the same, just his attitude changed. Before the kill, his words had rather positive feeling, like "Hello friend.", and now I'm getting speeches like "Hagraven or hooker - it matters not.".— Unsigned comment by 81.190.58.162 (talk) at 17:48 on 16 February 2012

I do hope you mean Hagraven or horker ;). That dialogue is just part of his standard business dialogue, and not in any way related to the fact that you murdered his brother. Wolok gro-Barok 18:25, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
After killing Anoriath, his brother started greeting me with something like, "What can I do for you, you miserable wretch?" It was very negative. Should that be verified? --Vulpa 23:21, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
It's true that he changes his attitude and uses that statement after killing Anoriath. It is noted on Elrindir's page. The Silencer speaksTalk 00:49, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Anoriath essential?[edit]

So, I got three contracts at the same time from Nazir. One was Anoriath. So I fast traveled to Whiterun, entered the inn, found him sleeping and shot him an arrow BUT, instead of just dying, he pulled the essential NPC animation, where they kneel on the floor for a few seconds and then he got up like nothing happened, greeted me and went back to sleep. I then tried talking to him, I picked the one about how two-footed prays are the real deal, he shrugged and went back to sleep. I shot him again. Same reaction as before. I'm going to try reverse pickpocketing him a few frenzy poisons to see what happens, but I'm afraid he might be bugged or sth. --Manu (talk) 13:05, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

It's most likely that a radiant quest has targetted him for something and made him essential. Have a look at this list and see if any of them are active and may have targetted him. Robin Hood  (talk) 19:49, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll look into that. --Manu (talk) 11:46, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
As it turns out, I'm screwed. The only quest in my log that could be targeting Anoriath is the Scare my Enemy one, which is bugged in a way that if you turn it down (and I have), the quest sticks in your log, and you become unable to fail nor restart it even via console command. --Manu (talk) 12:25, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Try any of the following and see if they help: stopquest WIAssault02, ClearQuestAliases WIAssault02, or SetEssential 13B97. The objective may still be stuck, but it might remove the essential status from Anoriath, I don't know. Also, we discourage the use of casual swearing, at least the stronger words. "Screwed" probably would've been a better choice, even if it means the exact same thing. :) Robin Hood  (talk) 18:42, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the help! And sorry for the language. --Manu (talk) 22:15, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
I tried the SetEssential 13B97 0 command and it worked! Thanks again. --Manu (talk) 12:28, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
Glad to hear it! Robin Hood  (talk) 02:43, 13 May 2016 (UTC)
