Lillith Maiden-Loom

Lillith Maiden-Loom is an elderly citizen of Whiterun who owns Whiterun Stables. She is the employer of Skulvar Sable-Hilt and lets him take care of selling the horses, while she merely lives in the stable house.

She spends most of her time in Whiterun and only enters the stable building at 5pm where she drifts around, either relaxing, eating or cooking. At midnight she goes to bed for eight hours of sleep. At 9am she heads up to Whiterun where she spends four hours browsing the market. At 1pm she patrols around the entire town, until she returns to the stable building at 5pm. The only exception to this routine occurs at the conclusion of the Companions quest Blood's Honor, when she will be in the crowd gathered in front of Jorrvaskr after the Silver Hand attack.

She wears farm clothes, a pair of gloves, and a pair of boots. She carries a key to the stables as well as common items and gold. She wields an iron dagger.

Dialogue[edit]

If you meet her in Whiterun, she will greet you with:

"Come to chat with an old woman, hmm? Do your good deed for the day?"
"My friend Maven and I - have you met Maven, in Riften? - we know our place in this world. Know the place of others, too."
"Do you like horses? You should visit the stables. I own them, you see. And our stock is excellent."
"Goodbye, dear."

If you meet her while she is working at the stables, she will instead greet you with:

"Looking for a horse? I own these stables, but Skulvar can help you with a purchase."

Conversations[edit]

In Whiterun, Lillith will occasionally chat with Fralia Gray-Mane:

Lillith: "Hello, Fralia dear."
Fralia: "Lillith - always a pleasure. Just browsing, or were you looking for something particular?"
Lillith: "Funny you should ask. I'm in the market for a new locket. Something in polished silver, maybe. Big enough to hold, say, a folded-up letter?"
Fralia: "Ahhh, I see. I think I know just what you need. I don't have anything like that here now, but my Eorlund - he can make you one right quick. When I get home, I'll have him start on it right away. Come back to pick it up in, oh... three days?"
Lillith: "Perfect, my dear. Absolutely perfect. I'll see you then."

Back at the stables, she can be seen talking to Skulvar Sable-Hult about the increase in business due to the civil war:

Lillith: "Everyone is [sic] this city is so on edge. I could use some good news, Skulvar."
Skulvar: "Ha! Four more geldings sold. Sound like good news to you?"
Lillith: "Indeed. I do hate to admit it, but if nothing else, all the fighting lately has been a complete blessing to this business."
Skulvar: "Aye, that it has. Trust me, mum - once you've killed a man from a horse, you'll never want to fight on the ground again. Ain't no goin' back."
Lillith: "Why thank you for that most colorful assessment, Skulvar. So we'll be needing fresh horses, then?"
Skulvar: "Aye, mum. That we will. Mares, stallions, donkeys - I don't think it matters. Pretty sure I can sell any steeds we get."
Lillith: "Excellent. I'll send the proper letters, then, and have some fresh horses delivered straightaway."
Skulvar: "Lookin' forward to it."

Notes[edit]

  • Lillith is a member of the scout class, which determines the level of her skills.
  • Lillith has one unused line of dialogue: "You need to be careful in this city. Never know who you can trust, these days."
  • Lillith was meant to live at a separate house called "Maiden-Loom Manor", which would be located in the city. A key, locklist, and location data still exist for this location, and Lillith is even part of the related faction for it. However, the building never made it into the final game.
