Question[edit]

I have a 360 will this place allow me to remove spells? — Unsigned comment by 156.34.212.148 (talk) on 15. October 2008

No it won't. The only way you can remove spells on Oblivion is using a console command, which is only available to PC players. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 06:57, 15 October 2008 (EDT)

Proposed Edits[edit]

Alright, so I've been working on some additions to this page, and would like some input from other members. See my sandbox to see the edits. -tommadness 09:39, 26 December 2008 (EST)

Also, we may wish to remove some details about use of the Orrery from the quest page. It seems somewhat out-of-place there, as that page pertains to the quest, and the information is about the Orrery itself. Possibly include a snippit of information, and link to the page about the Orrery itself. -tommadness 10:02, 26 December 2008 (EST)
I'm not sure that's the right solution. You'd be starting at the Orrery page, going to the Quest page to see the quest and then back to the Orrery page to see the results. I agree that at the moment there's too much on the quest page and not enough on the plugin page, but I don't think this is the way to go. Dr Jones 10:39, 26 December 2008 (EST)
I agree. It's a pity because your sandbox is a good, clean layout... it's just not right for this situation. –RpehTCE 15:36, 31 December 2008 (EST)

Bugs, problems, issues..[edit]

Alright guys,

I was wondering if any of you could shed some light on a problem I've got.

I've got an xbox. I downloaded The Orrery and Mehrunes Razor. They worked fine.

Then I downloaded a couple more things for the xbox, dashboard upgrades etc.

Disconnected it from the internet and took it back to my place (I'm poor and don't have the internet at my place).

Started it up. Now it doesn't recognise the add ons.

So I uninstalled the mods and took it back to my mate's house. Plugged it in, re-downloaded the two malfunctioning mods and got Deepscorn Hollow too. Checked them whilst I was there to make sure they worked. They did.

Took it back to my place and Mehrunes Razor and The Orrery don't work again. But Deepscorn Hollow does.

Any ideas what the Hell's going on? Cheers in advance, Major Tom 14:10, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

the reclusive Bothiel[edit]

I have 360 elite, I have gathered all the dwarven artifacts on Bothiel's list, I go back to the Arcane University to give her the artifacts, but she is behind the locked door to the Orrery and never comes out ! I wait 24 hours, then another and another .... she never comes out, I can not complete the quest. Is there some way to fix this bug and get her out to complete the quest ? or is this just another one of those bugs were you are screwed and either dont complete the quest, start from a way old save or just start the game over again. Damn I like this game, except for ALL these bugs. I wish these people would have put more effort into releasing a game that worked better than what this does now.— Unsigned comment by 68.241.177.68 (talk) on 22 January 2010

Unless you delete and reinstall the plug-in (or download it again) she will be permanently stuck behind the door. This is the only way I've found to repair it so far. --S'drassa T2M 23:22, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
I must have something wrong with my system. I formated the hard drive, downloaded all the game and consol updates it was saying I needed, downloaded all the game plugins AGAIN, started a whole new game AGAIN , same problem, the arrow keeps indicating she is in the Orrery Room and that I need a key to get in. This game is just very badly programed. It would have been nice to comeplete this game just ONCE with no bugs. There is just TOO many bugs to do so I see. Well, will just not do this quest line. Damn shame, such a good game idea and they program it like this.— Unsigned comment by 173.5.121.173 (talk) on 23 January 2010
This will happen everytime you start a new game, she will always get stuck behind the door. Your only solution is to delete the plug-in and install it again with every new game you start. --S'drassa T2M 16:17, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Actually I think this glitch has something to also do with The Mystic Emporium in the Market Place Imperial City. I -NEVER- experienced the reclusive Bothiel glitch in the SEVERAL characters I created until I created the last two. On XBOX 360 have all downloads and expansions. How I think it works: Start a new character and go to the Imperial city after getting out of the tutorial area. Do not start Frostcraig Spire house quest. Do not join Mages Guild. Visit Mystic Emporium as your very first store after you successfully lockpick the Hard lock with around 40 lockpicks. Grab 2 of the same scroll type to begin the scroll duping glitch.

When I did these above things on my two newest characters, a khajiit and a dunmer, Boethia was ALWAYS being anti social in the orrery. However in the past when I went fishing at different open stores in the Market place because I wasn't confident in my lockpicking abilities nor did I have a good alteration lvl for open hard lock, I never had a problem with Boethia. It was only after the above did I have a problem with her. So instead of uninstalling the plugin, I moved it from my hardrive to my memory card and removed the memory card from my counsel. I then waited 24 hours for Boethia to come out and then I spammed around 40 paintbrushes and blocked off the orrery door to her so she couldn't go in before I put the Orrery expansion back in.

I seriously think it has something to do with the Mystic Emporium as this has never happened before in any of my characters.--71.23.17.32 03:35, 28 August 2011 (UTC) unokitsune

Edit: Alright I went ahead and made another character. This time I did things the old fashioned way by browsing stores. First place I went to upon exiting the sewers for the first time was bravil, found some scrolls and bought them and joined the mages guild. Then I did the frostcraig house thing THEN went to the mystic emporium. Afterwards I did the Orrery quest. Boethia was in the lobby waiting for me and not being a hermit inside. PROOF you have to do it a certain way. Proof that she is out in the lobby on new characters. Did this with a female Khajiit.--71.23.17.32 06:16, 28 August 2011 (UTC) unokitsune

The Orrery on PC[edit]

I was wondering if its still possible to get this plug-in on PC?Mor'tar'iit 02:01, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes. It's listed in the infobox at the top right of the article. --GKtalk2me 02:57, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Oh ok, Thanks ^_^Mor'tar'iit 22:25, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Ald'ruhn Conflict[edit]

In the summary, Boethial states she will visit Ald'Ruhn soon and see Edwina. However, thanks to rumors via the people, you find out Ald'Ruhn has been destroyed and Edwinna most likely dead.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 19:49, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

That was the note Bothiel sent to Edwinna requesting the necessary repair items. It was sent before the Oblivion Crisis starts - clearly so, as the items sent by Edwinna are already present in Cyrodiil when you escape from the dungeon. It's also worth pointing out that the destruction of Ald'ruhn is only a rumor. It's quite possible that Edwinna was alive and well... at least for at most 40 more years, anyway. rpeh •TCE 20:13, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Ahh... but a rumor like that is hard to get wrong... and why would they put a rumor like that in, with no truth to it?--Arch-Mage MattTalk 20:07, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

"A new, full-featured quest"[edit]

Should it honestly be called a full featured quest? It's literally 5 minutes of horse riding to pick up 4 "orrery parts". — Unsigned comment by LSD (talkcontribs) on 23 August 2010

Only if you already visited the locations are and can fast-travel to them. This quest is rather more involved than several others already in the game. rpeh •TCE 11:00, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
"5 minutes of horse riding", no fast travelling. I honestly can't think of a less interesting/involving quest in the game besides "darkness eternal", only since you don't do anything. Care to name some? The reward is just as bad.--LSD 05:38, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
You're exaggerating. It will always take more than 5 minutes. The fact that you don't like it doesn't change the fact that it's a full quest. rpeh •TCE 08:13, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Picture[edit]

Should there be an image of the orrey before the mod is installed?Mylesjackson 17:54, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Why? It's simply an empty, oversized room... --SerCenKing Talk 18:11, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
You can't get in there without the console either. rpeh •TCE 18:34, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Entertaining Fact[edit]

(originally posted to the article, here) It seems as though the Orrery is actually based off of the Observatory in the previous game; The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard. The Observatory is a Dwemer construction, ran by the man Erasmo. Erasmo is a scared Dwemer (Presumably) and offers help in the main quest in(during a) certain part(s). If you pay attention though to the Observatory behind him, a near-replicate machine is rotating with what appears to be planets and moons orbiting either a sun or an even larger planet. Upon close inspection, it is clear that this is what the Orrery was based upon.

For proof, please watch this video. It is not my video; the video belongs to a user named GrimTheReaper1990. Please pay your respects and comment / subscribe to his work.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SKAKdn8eeg&feature=related

The video begins in the middle of a mission that is part of the main story. To get to the part I am talking about, please reference about half-way through the video, starting at 4:20. The "Orrery" can be clearly viewed from 4:30 - 4:49 at which point it can only be seen at points in the dialog.

I didn't delete this, but I would have done if Arch-Mage Matt hadn't beaten me to it. Yes, there was an observatory in Redguard, but then there was also at least one in Morrowind (Galom Daeus I remember). The RG connection is featured heavily on our Astronomy page , but so are the Morrowind and Oblivion connections.
In other words, there's no way the Orrery is based "off of" any particular thing in a previous game, it's merely a continuation of previously-expressed ideas. rpeh •TCE 20:46, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Orrey glitch quick fix[edit]

(moved from the article) Ok so if you have a glitch where Bothiel is in the Orrery room here is a way to get around it.

  • First become a member of the mages guild and get to the quest where you need to talk to Bothiel, I don't know if you really need to do this first step but I know it will work if you do.
  • Next uninstall the Orrery plug-in (If you have the 360 version this can be done by goint into system, memory, the hard drive, oblivion, then deleat Orrery.)
  • After that waith 24hrs in game.
  • Then find Bothiel out side of the Orrery room and talk to him.
  • After that reinstall the Orrery plug-in

wait for the note

  • Then do the quest again
