Viera Lerus is an Imperial knight, and the captain of the Bravil City Watch. She will take part in the Defense of Bruma if you complete the Bravil part of Allies for Bruma; if she has died, you will not be able to complete the Bravil part of the quest.
Viera has a very busy life as a captain of the guard. She sleeps in the Bravil Castle Barracks between midnight and 6am. She has two meals a day in the barracks: one at midday lasting two hours, and a second at 7pm lasting three. While on duty she has five potential areas to patrol, which she will pick somewhat erratically every one to two hours.
- Patrol 1: Guard the North Gate.
- Patrol 2: Patrol the south end of town.
- Patrol 3: Guard the Count's room in the North Wing of the Castle Private Quarters.
- Patrol 4: Protect the jailor in the town dungeons.
- Patrol 5: Stand guard in the Castle Great Hall.
During her scant free time she will wander the barracks, although her schedule should always keep her quite busy.
As guard captain of Bravil, she's armed with a silver longsword, and wears the Bravil cuirass, along with chainmail greaves, chainmail boots and chainmail gauntlets. She carries a small amount of gold and keys to Castle Bravil interior and exterior. She has one leveled Illusion spell, which is either an Invisibility, Chameleon or Silence spell.
Dialogue[edit]
When you approach her, she will politely introduce herself:
- "I'm Viera Lerus, captain of the Bravil Guard."
When asked about Bravil, she will then tell you about how hard it is to keep up working for such an irresponsible Count:
- Bravil
- "The Count used to be a great man, but power and idleness have spoilt him. However, we remain loyal in memory of past kindnesses, and to serve Bravil."
Related Quests[edit]
- Allies for Bruma: You are asked to bring in reinforcements for Bruma from the other towns.
- Defense of Bruma: Let a Great Oblivion Gate open outside of Bruma.
[edit]
Allies for Bruma[edit]
If you succeed in closing the Oblivion Gate outside Bravil and Viera is alive, Count Regulus Terentius will agree to dispatch her to Bruma:
- "Thank you for closing the Oblivion Gate that was threatening Bravil. I will send my guard captain, Viera Lerus, to Bruma's aid."
- "I've sent Captain Lerus to Bruma. She is one of my best soldiers. I'm glad to be able to help defend the heir to the throne."
At this point, she will greet you with:
After this she will set off for Bruma, where she should arrive after about 24 hours. Once she does, she will set up her tent in the Castle's inner courtyard and spend most of her days pacing around it and speaking to any fellow soldiers, only breaking off to sleep from midnight to 6am.
Defense of Bruma[edit]
Once Martin's plan for the Great Gate is in place, she will march to the battlefield and take part in the fierce struggle outside the city walls. Attempting to speak to her during the battle will net you:
- "Let's talk after the battle is won."
Should she survive, you will find her applauding your success once you close Great Gate. She will then head back to Bravil, although a bug will mean she never returns to her previous life.
If she survived the battle, she will then greet you with:
- "Hail, daedra-slayer!"
Notes[edit]
- Although Viera is captain of the Bravil City Watch, she is not a member of the Guard class. Therefore she is unable to arrest you if you commit any crimes (although her high responsibility ensures that she immediately reports any crimes she may witness).
- Because she is not marked as Essential, it is possible for Viera to be killed while traveling between Bravil and Bruma during Allies for Bruma if she is attacked by sufficiently powerful enemies along the way.
Bugs[edit]
- Should Viera survive the battle of Bruma, she will immediately return to Bruma after arriving at Bravil, as her schedule still has her sleep in her (now missing) tent there. Because of this, she will forever travel back and forth between Bravil and Bruma until she gets killed.
- The Unofficial Oblivion Patch, version 3.0.0, fixes this bug.
- Viera's level is fixed at 15, rather than being tied to the player's level like other guard captains. This leaves her relatively weak at higher levels during the Defense of Bruma.
- The Unofficial Oblivion Patch, version 3.5.1, addresses this issue. Viera's level is now set to PC + 15.
