Chance formula[edit]

The chance-of-successful-cast formula given here is different from the one on the Spells page. Can we get clarification as to which one is correct? Thanks. 75.58.152.237 03:59, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

That's a very good question. The formula on this page was originally added by Ong elvin, the formula on the Spells article was originally added by Narfblat. Both users didn't seem to give an explanation in addition, and the formulae appear to have been unchanged in the meantime. I really cannot say which formula is correct, it would require some proper testing to determine that. It's a good thing that Morrowind provides the spell chance itself (rather than letting you figure it out on your own), so that would make it easier. --Timenn-<talk> 14:20, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Both formulas gave a success rate close to what the displayed value is in game, but the formula on the Spells page was more accurate (I just had to round up or down for a perfect match) and is MUCH easier to work with. So the one on the spells page is probably the correct one. It might be worth noting, however, that the value given by the spellmaker preview assumes that you are at half fatigue, so you're actual success rate ends up being somewhat higher than what you see when actually creating the spell when your fatigue is full. 72.222.177.137 18:06, 12 June 2013 (GMT)

Bartering the money back[edit]

I don't think this is mentioned in Cheats or Hints, but like the enchanting trick, you can recover money spent making spells by bartering with the NPC first (if they offer a bartering service). For that visit, all gold subsequently spent on spellmaking will be added to the NPC's gold in the barter screen. This trick has limited use because spellmaking really isn't expensive like enchanting. It is also apparent that spellmakers only barter books, ingredients, and potions. If you have the propylon index plugin, Nibani Maesa barters Misc items, but those aren't exactly a cash cow.

The trick also works for Training and buying standard Spells. Honestly, it could be considered legit; i.e., trading off some of your potions in exchange for some training sessions. Just not sure if it is worth mentioning outside of a talk page. - Tlist 02:49, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

It's mentioned on the Trainers page, where the sums of money involved make it more useful. rpeh •TCE 08:12, 21 October 2010 (UTC)

Magic cost[edit]

What is the formula for determining the magic cost of a spell?1337 w0n 15:20, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Third formula in here. -- kertaw48 16:49, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Who has which spells?[edit]

Need to create a list of who has which spells to make from. Some of them are harder to find, like Fortify Skill and Lock, while some, like Drain Health, are available from almost all spellmakers. — Darklocq  ¢ 00:09, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Formula?[edit]
