Sorcha was a high-ranking Reachfolk member of the Keepers of the Razor, a group dedicated to hunting down the members of the Mythic Dawn and guarding Mehrunes' Razor, ensuring it stayed out of dangerous hands. She was active in the early years of the Fourth Era.[1]
History[edit]
Little is known about Sorsha's early life, aside from the fact that she was described as a native daughter of the Reach. At some point, she joined a militia group dedicated to hunting down and destroying the Mythic Dawn. She rose to a high rank within the faction, becoming one of its three most influential members. The earliest records of the group date back to around 4E 50, approximately fifty years after Frathen Drothan's failed expedition to Varsa Baalim, and about 150 years before 4E 201. During their crusade against the Mythic Dawn, Sorsha and her companions discovered the legendary Mehrunes' Razor. In recognition of their find, the militia renamed themselves the Keepers of the Razor and took on the responsibility of guarding the Daedric artifact. The Razor was split into three parts, each entrusted to one of the highest-ranking members of the group's inner circle. Sorsha received the pommel of Mehrunes' Razor, while her companions—the Nord, Lenne of the Axe-Bearer Clan and Othmash gro-Gularz, an Orc—kept the hilt and blade shards, respectively. They all pledged to pass the fragments of the relic down to their children, with the responsibility to be inherited by the eldest child "until the twin moons vanished from the skies."[1]
Legacy[edit]
Sorcha remained steadfast in her vow and ensured that the pommel of Mehrunes' Razor was passed down through the maternal line. It first came into the hands of her eldest daughter, Cayleigh, and from there, it was passed to Cayleigh's daughter, Riane. Riane then entrusted it to her daughter, Muriel, continuing the lineage of guardianship. From Muriel, it was passed down to her daughter Malvina, then to Edana, and finally to Carine, each generation safeguarding the precious relic with unwavering devotion. After eight generations, the pommel reached the hands of Drascua, marking the end of a long line of protectors. The relic continued to be passed down from mother to daughter, preserving its legacy, until the year 4E 201, when its fate would take a new turn.[1]
In his pursuit of the Razor, Silus Vesuius traced the family lineage and documented their genealogy in the text The Keepers of the Razor. He faced great difficulty in locating Sorsha and her descendants, as her daughters proved nearly impossible to trace, until he uncovered Markarth's exceptionally detailed tax records, which documented each birth in Sorcha's lineage for the purpose of collecting various petty fees. He learned that the last living descendant of the line, Drascua, was residing in Dead Crone Rock following the Markarth Incident,[1] and so he hired an adventurer to visit her.[2] The adventurer located Drascua, who had become a hagraven and the leader of a Forsworn commando, and ultimately killed her taking the relic.[3][4]
