This is everything Somercy wanted off her talk page as of 10/25/07.

Note[edit]

My current line of work is editing out first-person references, as they are verboten, per the Style Guide. If that disturbs you, find someplace other than wiki to write a walkthrough! Somercy 12:26, 7 February 2007 (EST)

Thanks for volunteering to tackle some of the first-person descriptions! It definitely needs to be done, and I know there are a few pages that are such a mess that most of us are too afraid to even try to touch them :) Anything you can do will be appreciated. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. --Nephele 12:38, 7 February 2007 (EST)

Sorry about that I'm sort of a noob so I won't bother you but if you ever feel like joining my guild tell me and tell me on my talk page if you will let me advertise my guild on your talk page thanks!-GaidenGuy123 22:08, 24 August 2007 (EDT)

Helping Out[edit]

I noticed you asked Ratwar about how you can help - it turns out we have a page just for that purpose: UESPWiki:Helping Out. Any help is always appreciated, of course, but that's a good place to start. --TheRealLurlock Talk 12:57, 13 February 2007 (EST)

(Copy and Pasting my reply onto your talk page) Well, helping out really depends on what you know. If you're comfortable with Morrowind material, we'd really like some help filling out the Morrowind Quest Section (basically making all the quest pages that are linked off Morrowind:Quests look like this). A whole list of Morrowind Projects needing help can be found on this page: UESPWiki:Morrowind_Redesign_Project. Of course, judging by the amount of changes you've done in just the grammar parts, you're helping a lot already. --Ratwar 13:00, 13 February 2007 (EST)

Prerequsites[edit]

Usually the Prerequsites are the quests that come before them in the list off the factions quest page (although there are exceptions), but if you don't want to worry about it, just leave a '?', and I'll fill them in behind you. And happy Valentine's to you :). --Ratwar 12:48, 14 February 2007 (EST)

Okay, thanks for all the help --Ratwar 12:53, 14 February 2007 (EST)

Description[edit]

I'm guessing this snippet of text "Kill eight rats for Gravel Trothgar" was supposed to end up somewhere like a quest description page, rather than at Template:/Description. But I'm too Morrowind-clueless to have any idea where it goes ;). Also, I'm guessing there might be a broken link somewhere that led you to that template page... if you have any idea what link you hit to end up there, I could look into it and fix it.

BTW, thanks for all the great work you've been doing! --Nephele 17:02, 15 February 2007 (EST)

Flirting?[edit]

Hmmm... double-dating bunnies and monkeys at the same time? Taking full advantage of the single life while you have a chance, I suppose ;) --Nephele 16:26, 22 February 2007 (EST)

Scuppered[edit]

Basically means you cannot proceed. From English Navy slang: Derived from when a man washed into the Ice scuppers from the deck. (Which would probably kill him.) Jadrax 10:39, 27 February 2007 (EST)

No love for me?[edit]

Awwww... :( I'm not too evil. See? I have a nice side, too :)

That is, when I'm not busy smiting my enemies... >:D --Aristeo | Talk 13:02, 27 February 2007 (EST)

Thanks[edit]

Thank you for that quick welcome :) Nufy8 13:02, 5 March 2007 (EST)

I typed "recieve" into the search box and it listed every page with the typo. I then went to each page and used the find function to located each instance of the typo, then corrected it. It would probably be less tedious with a bot, but I'm not too knowledgable on that subject. Nufy8 13:08, 5 March 2007 (EST)

Daggerfall Redesign[edit]

I have added a Template for pages you want to mark as part of the Daggerfall redesign. Jadrax 12:47, 19 March 2007 (EDT)

Hey[edit]

I haven't seen you around much lately, I hope you're coming back to stay! --Ratwar 15:58, 17 April 2007 (EDT)

You're Back![edit]

Glad to see you back. I was noticing on Recent Changes that your edits aren't being marked as patrolled. Did you select "Mark my edits as patrolled" in your preferences? --GuildKnight (Talk) contribs 00:17, 19 April 2007 (EDT)

Your User page...[edit]

I fixed the problem - you can't indent Userboxes for some reason, it screws everything up. You'll have to find another way to arrange them. --TheRealLurlock Talk 13:14, 27 April 2007 (EDT)

Picture of Oblivion Characters[edit]

Thanks for reminder. I set that up as a template for Kalia, etc. but they're going with another (non-wiki) solution. Since I'm sole author I'll go ahead and speedy delete it. --Wrye 22:03, 18 May 2007 (EDT)

Q/A about my User page[edit]

I use UESP and another Elder Scrolls Wiki "hand in hand", and was curious if it is some sort of violation to just copy-paste my user page from here to my user page there (Im quite lazy and also like how the page is turning out thus far) ((I also acknowledge, and will delete the images (or at least the lines of code for the pix) before I would copy the info))--Skober 03:37, 28 May 2007 (EDT)

never mind, got it squared away--Skober 13:25, 29 May 2007 (EDT)

Made an Account![edit]

Hi Somercy -- ok, I did it (as you suggested). I actually made a user account. Now let's hope I actually learn some wiki syntax (I'm used to hard-coding HTML instead). My Xbox came back from the mothership a while ago (RRoD), and a friend of mine who I usually play with/against online is prepping his wedding, so finally I stuck Oblivion back in, and that in turn drove me back to the wiki... --Natpoor 16:55, 11 July 2007 (EDT)

Names...[edit]

I don't really have a problem with it, I'm honored, I guess - except for one thing. "Lurlock" is the name of a major character in a novel/game I've been producing, and I plan to some day publish both of them. I'm not sure if there'd be trademark issues with a fanfic which used the name I'd created in the first place, but you could see how it might get a bit hairy. I can't speak for the other people you mentioned, other than to say that Nephele's name comes from Greek mythology, and Bast's name is Egyptian, so they might create references you didn't intend in your story. It's nothing personal, just that sometimes using other people's names for things like this can lead to unintended consequences... --TheRealLurlock Talk 10:50, 31 August 2007 (EDT)

I have no problem with you using my name, good luck with your writing! --Ratwar 14:56, 4 September 2007 (EDT)
I have no problem with you using my user name, either. --Gaebrial 11:35, 5 September 2007 (EDT)
Nor do I...keep on writing. -- Daveh 20:30, 6 September 2007 (EDT)

5 minute bug[edit]

Just so you know, there's currently a bug with the site, that causes anyone posting to a page which generates an e-mail notification to be frozen out of the site for 5 minutes. This includes your talk page, unfortunately. Until this is fixed, it would help if you would go into your preferences and turn off all e-mail notifications. They don't work anyhow at the moment, which is why this bug is occurring. Thanks. --TheRealLurlock Talk 10:58, 31 August 2007 (EDT)

New Userbox[edit]

Hiya, you may be interested in a Userbox I just made ({{User Writer}}) so fanfic writers can advertise themselves. I'm not putting it on my page yet because I want to do one more pass before putting ToD on the ff page. BTW - what was it in particular I did that made you love me? :-) ([1]) --RpehTalk 01:25, 7 September 2007 (EDT)

For Your Valiance in the Nineten Spam Battle[edit]

You have been given a cookie!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

I know this doesn't make up for the lunch you missed, but at least it might get the taste of spam out of your mouth! --Eshe 12:15, 10 September 2007 (EDT)
I love the new story! I have to confess that Robius didn't go to get help, though - he had to leave work to get home because he was expecting a delivery. I was darn glad you came online when you did! --RpehTalk 12:51, 11 September 2007 (EDT)
I just read your new story and really liked it. I must say you are very talented. --Mankar Camoran 06:51, 16 September 2007 (EDT)
Sorry, Somercy. I don't have a spare name. But I think you can use something like M Camoran or either Mankar or Camoran. I don't think there will be any problems then. --Mankar Camoran 11:05, 17 September 2007 (EDT)
Feel free to use any variation of my name in order to avoid trademark issues. I have absolutely no problems with it. --Mankar Camoran 11:29, 17 September 2007 (EDT)
If you don't mind, you may use my real name, Vivek, with or without any variations. --Mankar Camoran 07:10, 23 September 2007 (EDT)

Happy New Year.[edit]

Sorry, I hadn't noticed it. I wish you a very happy and healthy new year. --Mankar Camoran 09:11, 28 September 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the apple. I really loved it! --Mankar Camoran 09:25, 28 September 2007 (EDT)

It was a great work of art! But, what new users? I didn't understand. --Mankar Camoran 09:33, 28 September 2007 (EDT)

Well, one of the questions was actually mine. Sorry dear, I didn't know we had to wait so long ;) --Mankar Camoran 09:44, 28 September 2007 (EDT)

Well, nothing can be done about them, I guess. There are a lot of people in the world who don't know what to do with their lives. --Mankar Camoran 09:55, 28 September 2007 (EDT)

I mean lot of "sick" people. --Mankar Camoran 09:59, 28 September 2007 (EDT)

You are right. Take care and good luck. --Mankar Camoran 10:10, 28 September 2007 (EDT)

A request.[edit]

Hi, dear. You see, although I have been here for a few months I don't know my way around here too well. So I was actually looking for a mentor. And I was very happy to know that you are one of the mentors. Of all the people here you are the one I am most familiar with and I feel very comfortable talking to you. So I was just wondering, could you be my mentor? I would really appreciate it if you could point out to me if I make any mistakes or if you feel I have done anything odd. Do you agree? But if for any reason it is not possible for you to be my mentor, don't hesitate to tell me directly. I have no problems with it. Ok? --Mankar Camoran 09:05, 30 September 2007 (EDT)

Thanks a lot for accepting. Well, I was mainly concerned about the general editing that I do here and also about etiquette. Since you are a patroller, I said to myself that you could point out to me if I did something wrong so that I could correct myself. And if you ever feel I need any advice on anything please don't hesitate to let me know.
No need to blush, dear. You are a very experienced wikian now and really deserve the status of a mentor. Actually it is my honour to have you as my mentor. I am really happy that you accepted. :) --Mankar Camoran 09:58, 1 October 2007 (EDT)
No, I wasn't trying to flatter you or anything. I was really serious. And you are right about editing. That's what I was thinking as well. I know I am decent. But there is definitely room for improvement. And also I think I need advice on etiquette. I know there is a guideline here on etiquette, but I don't know any details. --Mankar Camoran 10:19, 1 October 2007 (EDT)
I will be totally honest with you. The main reason I thought I needed a mentor was etiquette and not editing. I have no experience in these things. But I really like this place. It is just that I was concerned that I may disrupt the normal activities here by being a "dickhead". I have absolutely no personal issues with anyone. I like everyone here. And of course, I never get emotional. I am very grateful to you for your summary. It was very helpful. I guess I was being too childish. --Mankar Camoran 10:44, 1 October 2007 (EDT)
I am not emotional by nature. And age has nothing to do with being childish, dear. It is about experience. Well, I lead a very strange life. I am not used to dealing with people. I am very introverted. Therefore you are absolutely right about my insecurity. But you seem so free with everyone that I thought I could learn something from you about how to behave here. This conversation was very helpful to me. But if you ever feel I need to know anything please tell me. I never get offended. So don't hold back. Ok? --Mankar Camoran 11:14, 1 October 2007 (EDT)
BTW, I just saw your new userbox. It is great;) --Mankar Camoran 11:41, 1 October 2007 (EDT)
Thanks, dear. And you can call me Vivek if you don't mind. Mankar isn't really my name you see. --Mankar Camoran 11:51, 2 October 2007 (EDT)
And I will be looking forward to your new userbox :) --Mankar Camoran 12:00, 2 October 2007 (EDT)
It is good, but can't you make it a bit better looking? I wonder what made you think a cat can be sexy! --Mankar Camoran 10:12, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
Sorry, I don't know anything about Morrowind. So I didn't understand it. Now that I understand, it is very creative. Thanks for showing it to me. --Mankar Camoran 10:25, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
And if you do another version, not necessarily today, I would be really happy to see that. --Mankar Camoran 10:30, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
And I do hope it will be better looking. Do you want suggestions? --Mankar Camoran 10:36, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
Sorry, dear. I was just trying to help you make one. And I may make one if I can find enough time and inclination. --Mankar Camoran 10:42, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
Don't worry. You can do it whenever you find time. And I actually think Vivec is derived from Vivek. Vivek is a Sanskrit word. --Mankar Camoran 10:50, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
OB-class-Knight.jpg This user is a Knight.
Now this is really magnificent. I will put it on my userpage. Thanks a lot. --Mankar Camoran 10:54, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
If Vivec the god is "discerning with wisdom", I am sure it is derived from Vivek, because Vivek means "wisdom" in Sanskrit and it is quite a common name in India. --Mankar Camoran 11:07, 3 October 2007 (EDT)
But I must admit not all who are named Vivek are wise! --Mankar Camoran 11:36, 3 October 2007 (EDT)

Thanks to you, I learnt a bit about making userboxes :). --Mankar Camoran 15:52, 4 October 2007 (EDT)

Userboxes[edit]

Just saw your question on Playjex's page, and thought I'd answer it for you. There's instructions for making your own Userboxes at the bottom of the UESPWiki:Userboxes page. It's a pretty simple template, just give it two colors, a picture, and some text, and it does the rest. You might want to use a {{NewLine}} after them, however, to prevent the weird formatting currently on your User page. Alteratively, you can put them in a Table of some sort to keep them better organized. (Check out my User page for an example.) --TheRealLurlock Talk 10:08, 1 October 2007 (EDT)

Unfaithful Lover?[edit]

I prefer the version you've used, but surely if you're Morrowind-only thus far, you should be using this version of the constellation for your Userbox? Or are you now seeing Oblivion at the weekends? :-) --RpehTalk 15:12, 4 October 2007 (EDT) Having seen it, now prefers the Redguard version anyway!

As one who is ever faithful to Oblivion, I prefer the Oblivion version (it is very beautiful even otherwise). --Mankar Camoran 16:14, 4 October 2007 (EDT)
I have indeed seen your Ahnassi one. I had to go and look at the relevant MW page to understand the reference but yes, it seems appropriate. It's just the idea of becoming a special friend with what is, effectively, a giant cat that is a bit off-putting! --RpehTalk 23:56, 4 October 2007 (EDT)
I'm splendid thank you m'dear. Leaving one job and about to start another, which has drained my of enthusiasm and inspiration in the fan-fiction arena but leaves me otherwise happy. Yourself? I see you've been similarly quiet on the writing front - which may explain you removing the Writer box from your user page :( --RpehTalk 13:18, 5 October 2007 (EDT)

You deserve a plateful.[edit]

PlateofCookies.gif

You have been given a plateful of cookies!
I am doing this very sincerely. For all the things you have done here and for me in particular, you really deserve this. With love and best wishes,
--Mankar Camoran 08:23, 5 October 2007 (EDT)

Jesus - intimidating? Jesus Christ![edit]

I wonder why you are intimidated by the name "Jesus lover", dear Somercy. Don't you know Jesus was actually a Jew? Another thing is, it only those with a distorted sense of history, who blame Jews for The Crucifixion. No right-thinking person will blame Jews for that. The circumstances were very different then. Moreover, Jesus is the embodiment of Love itself. So you have absolutely no reason to be intimidated by Jesus or His lovers. I said these things because I like you and thought it would be useful to you. I hope you don't mind.

BTW, your userboxes are becoming very popular :). --Mankar Camoran 08:30, 11 October 2007 (EDT)

Is formatting all right? --Mankar Camoran 08:34, 11 October 2007 (EDT)

I was a bit apprehensive about saying it myself because this certainly isn't the place for it. But then I thought I shouldn't keep quiet. Don't worry, I won't drag it any more. Good luck! --Mankar Camoran 10:48, 11 October 2007 (EDT)

Userbox[edit]

Hi Somercy, just wanted you to know that there has been a slight change in those userboxes I created. It is now the 'anti-vandal' army now that spam is becoming increasingly rare thanks to the new CAPTCHA thingy.--Willyhead 15:09, 11 October 2007 (EDT)

Somercy[edit]

I am sorry that i had intimidated you. Like mankar said, the jews didn't crucify Jesus, the romans did. I am not against romans though. I have nothing against any person, race or gender. I believe all man was created equal. I am not against any other religons either everyone has their own beliefs. anyways, just drop me a line, I am happy to be your friend --Jesus lover 21:01, 11 October 2007 (EDT)
