Faction WIP tags[edit]

Hi Rpeh. I know you have Factions in your "To Do" list but in tweaking the Wip template, I noticed that you have a lot of really old WIP tags on various Faction pages. I just wanted to make sure these are still valid. If they are, you might want to update the dates on them, just so people don't randomly remove them on you. Here's the list:

Edit: I've also just fixed the {{Notice}} template so that {{TOCright}} won't overlap it; this looks much better, but is bumping some of the {{Wip}}s down the page significantly. You'll probably want to move them to the top if you're not removing them. I'll check all the other Wip pages except yours. Robin HoodTalk 23:23, 1 April 2010 (UTC), Edit: 23:33, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Sheesh. Has it really been that long? I'll try to finish them off when I get the chance. rpeh •TCE 09:27, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Lighting the Dragonfires is harder when the messenger doesnt show up![edit]

Hello there,

I am stuck on lighting the dragonfires quest...Martin walks into the palace, closes the door and then opens it again!!! making the messenger not come in and me stuck motionless! I'm patched up all the way but still this happens.

Any help on how to fix this? — Unsigned comment by 94.5.27.46 (talk) on 3 April 2010

No idea. Sorry. rpeh •TCE 09:28, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Hey mister mentor man![edit]

Since you are the second on the most active users (second ONLY to your own bot) and you are (to me) the most recognizable person here, and are on the mentors list, I have a couple questions to ask you, if you don't mind.

1: I've made a lot of edits (probably 50-100, it's a lot to me) without signing in, and thus they are under various IPs (from my six total at home since I've joined). Is there any possible way to link those to my account? 2: Could you explain to me (or a good link) how to get those information flags on your page? There are a few I have my eye on, and some ideas for customs, but everytime I think I've got it figured out, the preview looks like a big jumbled mess.

Thanks for your time! Justeazy 06:22, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

  1. Nope, sorry.
  2. If you're referring to the userboxes (the boxes with "This user is..."), try this page.

Thought so, just wanted to be sure.
Yes, and thanks very much! Justeazy 06:48, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Gloves[edit]

Zeinthar's Wiles and Zenithar's Warning are common gloves according to my CS. I've made the necessary changes. Where did you get the information from that they are expensive gloves? Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 22:03, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

I've replied on the talk page. rpeh •TCE 22:11, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

Racial Disposition Modifiers[edit]

Ok, I'm trying to get these out of the CS but I've checked the races, and just went through the dialogue and AI for Cluson and found nothing, how do I get this ?--TheAlbinoOrc 19:56, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Hmm. Maybe Morrowind doesn't have such a thing. I can find it easily enough in the Oblivion CS, but not Morrowind. Additionally, looking at the file format for Morrowind files, I can't see anywhere it would be stored. rpeh •TCE 08:24, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Okay, then I'll make some new people and get it from in-game. Thanks !--TheAlbinoOrc 18:42, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure there is anything. I would have thought so, but if there's anything it should be in the CS somewhere. That's what I meant. rpeh •TCE 18:46, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Very odd, an Argonian with no factions (made it new in the CS) had a 75 disposition to a Redguard, but an 80 to another Argonian.--TheAlbinoOrc 19:20, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Try some other races. There may be a generic if-it's-the-same-race-add-5 thing going on. rpeh •TCE 19:28, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
Yep, that's what it was he had the same disposition to a Dunmer as a Redguard.--TheAlbinoOrc 19:37, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Three Conversations[edit]

Just three conversations you may have missed:

And if you've got time, good ol' Nanette Don is still in need of a decent bugs section. Cheers. --SerCenKing Talk 08:36, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

I'll take a look. It seems my Internet connection is actually working again now. rpeh •TCE 08:45, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Oops[edit]

Regarding Harm's Folly:

not a bug, and UOP doesn't change it anyway

I went back to see what on earth I'd been looking at to provoke that edit and found that UOP in fact changed the default music to "public". A good example of why not to edit when far too tired, I think... --Vometia 09:50, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Ah! That would explain it. It might be worth mentioning that on the Harm's Folly page. rpeh •TCE 09:56, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Done! Though I'm not entirely convinced that one of my convoluted explanations is necessarily beneficial to the poor unsuspecting article... :D --Vometia 14:58, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Resurrect Self[edit]

There's been a discussion over on The Staff Of Worms page (you've probably seen it recently) could you test out the theory we've come up with, which is if the staff of worms is used on you just after you die you come back ?--TheAlbinoOrc 19:04, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Replied on the talk page. Basically, no. rpeh •TCE 04:43, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you[edit]

I'm not sure where you want me to put this but I figure here is as good as any. Thank you so very much on finding the Dreamers poem. I had been looking for that for such a long time. You can delete this comment if you want I just want to say you are awsome. — Unsigned comment by 24.208.27.115 (talk) on 21 April 2010

No problem - I get there in the end! rpeh •TCE 04:38, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

a plea for your expertise + 3 small ones[edit]

Hey Rpeh! It's been a while since we have talked on the IRC (I guess you still experience connection problems) so I figured I'd send you a message instead. You might have noticed my Sandbox talk pages exploding recently and that is because we have started working on some rather complicated NPCs. The good news is that Dovyn Aren seems to be finished and the Fathis Ules-investigation is looking better and better. But then there's Amusei. I might have been a bit naive when I started working on him, but who could have known... Still, I could really use your help on this complicated and overly bugged NPC. You can read through the entire investigation HERE and check my early writings here. What I hope for is a second opinion from you, and that you will go into the investigation a bit. I know it is difficult, confusing and all that - but it would be great to make his page as accurate as possible.

Also, for a rainy day, when you feel like checking some dialogue and rumors - here are three NPCs that can be finished rather easily:

All the best! --Krusty 09:08, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

I'll take a look when I can. Looks like a tricky one! rpeh •TCE 14:36, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
Most definitely. As a matter of fact, I don't even know where to start with the problems. Still, when you get around to it, let me know and I'll do all the in-game testing I possibly can. And I think his schedule should be written "step-by-step", the way I started it. Otherwise, it will be totally confusing - so I might skip my idea of a VIP treatment. --Krusty 17:05, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

re Personal Attacks[edit]

This isn't sitting well with me.

I don't believe that even "valuable contributions" should provide a "Resist Block" effect, other than as reinforcement of assumed Good Faith in the editor. If, after consideration, you feel that I did not act in good faith and did deliberately and maliciously make an attack on someone, you have a responsibility to bring it to the attention of an administrator for a ruling (unless you're confident that the ruling would be "no action", which you shouldn't be if you do think it was an attack). And yes, I realise that given your history here they'll almost certainly support you out of friendship alone.

The approach you took was equitable, but it implies that you're letting me get away with something, and I don't like the "dishonest" feeling that gives me. I'd rather have it resolved, regardless of the outcome. There is a policy. If the consensus is that I broke it, the appropriate action should be taken. If the consensus is that I didn't, the accusation should be retracted.

Thanks. --Aliana 21:20, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Actually, it's perfectly fine for rpeh to mention something without taking "official" action. I think it's great to give an editor who has shown tremendous initiative and nearly-constant good-faith a little extra "wiggle-room". It's something we've always done simply because if an editor is consistently constructive, it's less likely that there was a malicious intent behind his or her actions. It's not anything that would require any type of administrator action, either way, he simply did you the favor of mentioning it casually rather than with an official notice or warning. Though personal attacks are "grounds" for immediate blocks, a block is not required, and determining if comments actually are personal attacks can be a tricky subject. I like your viewpoint, though; we don't have many editors that would say, "Hey, you're s'posed to be meaner to me!" --GKtalk2me 21:45, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
I mentioned the blocks line from the policy to indicate how seriously personal attacks are taken. In this case, there were two mitigating factors. First, you didn't actually call him a liar, although the implication was clearly present. Second, while valuable contributions don't offer 100% resist block, they can offer a small resist in certain circumstances. Speaking from personal experience, I know how irritating it is when you've spent hours checking something in the CS and then under several different sets of circumstances in-game only to have somebody undo your edit for some specious reason.
In short, I wouldn't have given an official warning to anybody for your post, but given that another patroller has had words about a tendency towards incivility, I thought it was appropriate to point out that we take it seriously. rpeh •TCE 23:14, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
On the bright side, I'm not feeling uncomfortable any more. Unfortunately, it's because I'm feeling angry instead. I don't like people "quietly" casting aspersions. Even when you retracted your earlier accusation you "justified" your making it rather than apologise for it. Now it's character assassination by hearsay. Let's see these "words" Rpeh - I don't remember them, they're not on my talk page, and I can't find them, but maybe you'll have more luck since you know the wiki better. You posting twice is not "another patroller", and two incidents 18 months apart is not "a tendency". If you can refresh my memory, maybe seeing evidence of a bad habit will help me break it. If not, maybe you'll stop chiselling away at my reputation. Either way, it'll be an improvement and keep our relationship out of the spiral it's heading towards. --Aliana 15:44, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
You used the following phrase here: "you flat out lied or your concept of "testing" is so poor...". That's a personal attack either way. You also call the editor in question "deliberately deceitful or just incredibly careless" The rest of that post is also full of personal attacks.
I wasn't referring to incidents 18 months ago, I was referring to the talk page associated with your IP address, which has been deleted so I can't link to it. The comments there were made by Krusty, who is another patroller.
And I'm not quietly casting aspersions. I asked you very politely not to violate wiki policy. I'm now asking again. rpeh •TCE 16:36, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Please, everybody just back away from the horse. Aliana: your post was a tad offensive and assumed a lot of bad faith or at least negligence. While that's against policy in its own right, the larger issue is that it's not going to lead to productive interaction on the wiki. Instead, try asking questions like "What lead you to that conclusion?" and let the person explain why they added or removed the information they did. Then, if they've done a poor job of researching or their reasoning is flawed, it's more likely to be obvious to everyone, including themselves, and will give them a chance to fix their mistake, if any. Robin HoodTalk 18:10, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh, and please take a deep breath and look over your posts before hitting the save button. Even if you did soften your language and attitude afterwards, everything is going on record and all users can see what you originally wrote. And rpeh did exactly what he was supposed to do as a patroller, without a doubt. So please stop flogging the dead horse (this is not a big deal at all) and just think twice before saving. --Krusty 18:29, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Hjalti Help[edit]

Hi, I started the Hjalti page here, but before I finish it and put it up it needs some checking, specificly on Magicka, RefID, BaseID, level, responsibility and aggression. If you could check those with the console / CS I'd be grateful. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 22:13, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

I added the CS info, but rpeh should still check it, as I don't do creatures or expansion info very often. The bug with Hjalti not appearing may be unrelated to getting upgrades, as I'm pretty sure he wasn't anywhere to be found the first time I tried, but it's possible I just missed him somehow. Subsequent tries from the same saved game found him without incident. Robin HoodTalk 23:07, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
That was fine. Tweaks done - looks good to go now. rpeh •TCE 07:23, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
