Welcome[edit]

Hello Anil! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! —The Silencer speaksTalk 14:44, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Please remember the Show Preview button. The Silencer speaksTalk 14:58, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Advice[edit]

Per your edit summary here, I just figured I'd send you a reminder to be courteous and assume good faith. The edit you reverted was made by someone who'd only made one edit on the site, and even if they had made numerous edits which needed reverting, the edit summary you made seemed hostile and impolite. There's no need for further action here, but please keep the etiquette policy in mind with your edit summaries in the future. We don't want to turn away editors who may just be trying to help. — ABCface 22:20, 8 October 2012 (GMT)

I apologize. I misread the guy's IP address and thought that it was an IP address that I had been reverting edits from all day.--Anil (talk) 13:00, 9 October 2012 (GMT)
I have to ask again that you remember to assume good faith and be courteous to other users. Calling edits "nonsense" is applicable when someone adds a series of random letters such as here or when someone adds something which has nothing to do with the games such as this. There have been instances when you reverted edits calling them "nonsense" when it appears to have actually been a user trying to make a good-faith edit. As the Etiquette policy states, "If you don't understand what someone else was trying to do, assume they were doing it with the intention of improving the article. Be careful not to mistakenly label an inexperienced user's efforts as vandalism, as this can be very offensive to someone who was just trying to help." Like I said in my first post here, we don't want to turn away users who are trying to help. So just try to remember to assume good faith and don't call edits "nonsense" when you're not sure it was a nonsense edit. — ABCface 16:39, 23 October 2012 (GMT)

Bug verification template[edit]

FYI, the proper way to mark a bug entry for verification can be found here. Just adding {{Verification needed}} results in a superscript that says "verification needed-see talk page", without any talk page section to refer to. Just thought you would like to know. Happy editing! --Xyzzy Talk 18:31, 3 April 2013 (GMT)

Userpatroller?[edit]

Hey Anil! I just saw the comment on your userpage and wanted to let you know that I do recognize you, and even if I didn't, you're more than welcome to apply to be a userspace patroller. Just add your name to the list and I (or another admin) would be happy to quickly go over your edits to make sure you qualify—no painful nomination and voting process required ;). eshetalk 17:24, 19 April 2013 (GMT)

Skyrim References page[edit]

All of the edits I made were entirely valid edits that were made to support things I thought should be references. Making them in quick succession has no bearing on whether they are in good faith. In fact, removing them out of hand without taking the time to actually look at them is extremely frowned upon. I did not support EVERY one on the page, I supported those that I believed are references to previous games. I only noticed them due to the conversation. I did not revive any long archived discussions, or support any with a large amount of opposition in the past. Please take the time, in the future, to look at the edits you are reverting to make sure you aren't reverting valid edits, as you did here. Jeancey (talk) 17:10, 29 April 2013 (GMT)

Respectfully, I disagree. However, I see no point in having a revert war or a fight over a few comments on a wiki. --~The wind, forsaken~ (talk) 17:23, 29 April 2013 (GMT)
If you disagree that they should be references, feel free to comment on them on the page. I don't want to get into a long, drawn out argument there, so simple support or oppose, if you wish, and we can take the majority opinion. Jeancey (talk) 17:26, 29 April 2013 (GMT)
I don't disagree that they are references, nor have I ever. I reverted them because I think you made the edits in bad faith after losing an argument. I am not the only one who believes this, my original revert was allowed for two days and you have already had a discussion with several other editors on your page about the fallout from said argument. As I have already stated, I have no interest in fighting you for the edits as I think it is a waste of time. --~The wind, forsaken~ (talk) 17:39, 29 April 2013 (GMT)

Congratulations![edit]

After reviewing your activity and contributions, I've added you to the Userpatroller Group. Read the Patrolling Guidelines when you get a chance and feel free to add {{User Userspace Patroller}} to your user page. I would also recommend you consider following the example of other patrollers to try to learn the ropes, and seek and take their advice to heart. Once again, congratulations. Welcome to the team. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:47, 29 April 2013 (GMT)

Good to see you on board! It's about time. ThuumofReason (talk) 19:09, 29 April 2013 (GMT)

Deleting Redirects[edit]

When you're putting a deletion template on a redirected page, you should generally put it below the redirect. This lets the redirect itself continue to function so that pages still linked there won't break. You won't see it on the page, but it still gets flagged properly for the admins to delete. Oh, and on Templates, it's a good idea to put the deletion template inside <noinclude></noinclude> tags so that all the pages it's linked to don't get proposed for deletion as well. (Or, for bonus points and happy admins, edit all the links in "What Links Here" so that they point to the new page.) Robin Hood  (talk) 18:18, 1 May 2013 (GMT)

Evaluating Easter Eggs[edit]

I see you're working on a sub-page for evaluating the Easter Eggs. It looks good so far, you seem to have just about everything covered. The only addition I would suggest is something in the "specificity" section elaborating that if a proposal could be referring to multiple things, it usually isn't approved, as that just makes it harder to know what the developers were referring to, and again, specificity is a requirement. ThuumofReason (talk) 15:44, 17 May 2013 (GMT)

Unmarked Places[edit]

Why a topic named to list unmarked hold locations do even exist, if the said places are mixed with the ones which have map markers, and it is always empty? The lack of common sense of some people is baffling! 187.13.95.1 13:54, 4 June 2013 (GMT)

An exception is made for the capital. Notable places in the capital are noted under the header "Hold Capital". Please do not post questions in multiple places, attack other users, and do Assume Good Faith. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 14:00, 4 June 2013 (GMT)

Recycling quests[edit]

In regards to this edit, most of the random quests for the various guilds and what-not work on a rotating basis. In other words, do X quests in random order, then they all become available to do again in a different order. So my wording was specifically referring to the fact that The Gift had to be the last in the rotation before they got recycled. That said, your wording is definitely easier to understand...mine was probably more suitable for the modnotes field, if anywhere, so thanks! :) Robin Hood  (talk) 22:55, 12 June 2013 (GMT)

Miraak Shouts/Spells Table and other stuff[edit]

In the table for them, can the blank ones be removed or can they be put into multiple tables ? The blank makes the table look down. Also some of the shouts he knows such as Become Ethereal could be pruned down somewhere, because he only uses these shouts when the script happens. And the script is only when he absorbs dragon souls or trie to escape at the end. Dragon Guard (talk) 20:12, 6 July 2013 (GMT)

I agree that the table for the spells and shouts looks bad with the empty cells, but creating more tables would only clutter up the page. There might be a way to remove those empty cells, but I'm not an expert at wiki coding. As for the shouts, we have to list all the shouts and spells he can potentially use, even if he won't actually use them or only use them at specific times. It's the same as listing NPC spells, there are some spells (mostly illusion) spells that an NPC will never cast for some reason, but they are still in the ck. --AN|L (talk) 20:49, 6 July 2013 (GMT)

Sandbox Plagirism[edit]

I need to save that dialogue somewhere. Can't it come to an arrangement of some sort? Dragon Guard (talk) 20:09, 11 July 2013 (GMT)

I've already addressed his on your talk page, but it is Jimeee's choice to share his work with you or not. You can't just take it. --AN|L (talk) 20:12, 11 July 2013 (GMT)

Sandbox Invitation[edit]

Hi Anil!

I saw you were adding some verified information to the Skyrim Voice Actors page. As I am sure you saw in the notice, I am currently revamping that page in my sandbox. I would like to personally invite you to assist me (and the other editors working on the project) there, provided that you continue to add only verifiable information.

I look forward to working with you! --Nocte|Chat|Look 03:49, 12 July 2013 (GMT)

Skyrim Voice Actors Kirk Thornton[edit]

Please can you email Kirk Thornton about his role in Skyrim? Dragon Guard (talk) 19:32, 28 July 2013 (GMT)

Under the Table[edit]

Hey Anil. Just a reminder that you have a wipsandbox tag on Skyrim:Under the Table. It’s been a month without any edits to the sandbox, so if you have lost interest, please remove the tag from the article. Thanks in advance. --Krusty (talk) 09:34, 3 August 2013 (GMT)

Punctuation[edit]

Hiya Anil! I just wanted to suggest that you get in the habit of double checking punctuation on full sentences in your edits, as it is sometimes missing. This is just a minor error I've noticed in a few of your contributions lately, so I just figured I'd mention it. Otherwise, you have been making some great contributions around the wiki lately, so keep up the good work!

PS: I like your edit notice.

ABCface 21:12, 11 August 2013 (GMT)

Conjure Wrathman[edit]

Hi Anil. I agree with your most recent addition to Skyrim:Conjure Wrathman. I just want to point out there is no need to revert when you are basically keeping nothing from the previous version. Reverting an editor almost immediately draws their eye, so it's best to erase that text if you're not just essentially reinstating what was removed. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:33, 15 August 2013 (GMT)

Chuna; Note Irrelevant[edit]

Can you at least tell me why? Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 20:47, 2 September 2013 (GMT)

If you can somehow explain how how a word sounds like another is relevant in any way. Its extremely hard to even think how someone thinks it would be relevant when it is blindingly obvious how made up and circumstantial it is. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:52, 2 September 2013 (GMT)
So, your basically saying that it had no relevance to the article whatsoever. (i.e. It isn't very helpful.) Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 20:55, 2 September 2013 (GMT)
Not only is it not helpful, the idea of his name being a reference is beyond the realm of speculation. It's not even close. --AN|L (talk) 21:00, 2 September 2013 (GMT)
I get it now. Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 21:02, 2 September 2013 (GMT)

Moving content[edit]

Hi, Anil. Just a quick request. When you move a talk page topic, like you did for the edit to Skyrim_talk:Brittleshin Pass, please note in the edit summary where you moved it from when you paste it to it's new home, like you did when you cut it from it's old page. It's not a big thing, but it makes it easier for patrollers like me to follow the trail back to where it was originally posted. Thanks, and thanks also for all your great contributions to the wiki! --Xyzzy Talk 16:37, 7 September 2013 (GMT)

There's also a {{Discussion moved}} template just for this, which should ideally be used on both talk pages so that the original editor can more easily find their contribution as well. — ABCface 02:08, 8 September 2013 (GMT)
I didn't know about the template. Thanks ABC! --Xyzzy Talk 03:49, 8 September 2013 (GMT)
Let me join in the thanking here. I do think there are more of us, like myself, who will benefit on that advice. Thank you, ABC! —MortenOSlash (talk) 19:05, 8 September 2013 (GMT)

Whiterun bug[edit]

Hi again. In reference to the bug that you added to the Whiterun article, can you give some background? Were the soldiers glitched in some way? I'm 99% sure that I've seen two Whiterun guards spawn on the same side of the gate when I approach it. --Xyzzy Talk 16:46, 8 September 2013 (GMT)

In all honesty, I don't remember the circumstances very well. It was a while ago in a save I haven't played in a while and I just remembered today that I had meant to add it to the wiki. I know that I only first noticed the bug after completing the Battle for Whiterun and I'm pretty sure that the normal Whiterun guards were on both sides of the gate (my character was a companion and didn't fast travel, so I passed by the gate quite often). I'll try to find the save today and check. --AN|L (talk) 16:54, 8 September 2013 (GMT)
Ok, thanks. I'm asking because I don't think this is a bug. I believe that most, if not all, NPCs have an area they can spawn in rather than just a point. --Xyzzy Talk 17:35, 8 September 2013 (GMT)

Old CK info request[edit]

You have a CK info request from last summer at UESPWiki:Creation Kit Information Requests#Information Requested. It seems to have been fulfilled. Did you still need a response to it? Otherwise if the pages have been updated it should be removed. --Morrolan (talk) 14:42, 7 October 2013 (GMT)

I couldn't tell you how many times I've thought to remove that and didn't. It's done now. --AN|L (talk) 15:25, 7 October 2013 (GMT)

Forum-Like Question[edit]

If you removed it, does that mean there isn't a correct answer as to why the Hero of Kvatch was in the Imperial jail? DGAny Questions? 21:37, 8 November 2013 (GMT)

Yes. The game's beginning is supposed to be somewhat ambiguous, so you can build your own character. Discussing it on the wiki would just be speculation, as there is no evidence to indicate anything about your character. --AN|L (talk) 21:43, 8 November 2013 (GMT)

I didn't[edit]

I didn't correct other people's post. It was mine before I registered. --Dahkteromar (talk) 23:27, 12 November 2013 (GMT)

Anil would have no way of knowing this, so his action was appropriate. If you do this in the future, like if you add your signature to an edit you did without signing in, just be sure to note this in the edit summary. --Xyzzy Talk 00:30, 13 November 2013 (GMT)
