Introduced[edit]

Actually they were not introduced, they were already in the game, they just got upgraded and had more backstory told about them. The wild vampires are thin-bloods, meaning they are way down the line from harkon, who is a pure blood because he was turned directly by Molag Bal but they still part of the same breed. 217.137.157.197 16:10, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

I've made a couple tweaks, which included restoring the word "introduced". The article is not saying that Volkihar vampires in general were introduced by the plug-in, but that the clan was introduced by the plug-in. This is true, as only the regular "thin-bloods" were present in the game originally. ABCface 12:11, 9 July 2012 (UTC)

Name[edit]

Are the DLC vampires called Volkihar in the construction set? Otherwise I suggest removing that mention, as per my comment on the vampire: lore page. Im hesitant to make edits myself, I dont have access to the construction set. Its speculation if they arent named specifically Volkihar in any game file as there is no in-game data at all suggesting they are, bar the name of the castle. --Merari (talk) 22:43, 27 October 2012 (GMT)

serena cured[edit]

What happens if Serena and I have cured from vampirism and come back to the castle? (Vvardfell (talk) 11:11, 24 November 2012 (GMT))

Not sure about both of you, but if you've been cured, you're told you're worthless to the clan unless you have Serana give you your gift back. I would presume the same - you're shunned by everyone in the castle (except Valerica, she will still talk to you regardless of whether you're a vampire or not).Agmen (talk) 19:45, 11 January 2013 (GMT)
Serana can't be cured if you join the vampires. 2.99.243.41 15:46, 26 August 2013 (GMT)

Side-quests bug[edit]

For the second time I get stuck with side-quests. Through the whole game for Volkihar clan the side-quests are given by Fura Bloodmouth only. She never told to ask another member for a quest, and other members of the clan only noted that Fura Bloodmouth has something for the character. It happend both with DG+Patch1.6 and DG+HF+Patch1.7. --Mr.Killjoy (talk) 02:30, 4 March 2013 (GMT)

A few questions[edit]

I have a character I'm using, and rather than start the Dawnguard quests on a whim, I'd like to figure out a few things first. 1) Which side has the most benefits, in your opinion? 2) Which side offers quests that get stuck? If both sides offer broken quests, which side offers the most problematic quests? 3) Crossbows, if you join the vampires, can you enter the Dawnguard castle and craft bolts? 4) Is there any indication that you can manage to 'bug' or 'trick' the game into giving you a dwarven crossbow (without the console)? Many thanks in advance. I await your replies! Satellite --98.149.253.196 07:37, 16 March 2013 (GMT)

The Dawnguard have more potential followers than the vampires. If you join the vampires then you can get access to the skill trainers and purchase armoured trolls when you get the quest Destroying the Dawnguard all the Dawnguard members are at the fort so you can Pacify Sorine and Florentius to access there wares however all other members have no true max level so the others cant be pacified after level 83. The dawnguard have 6 radiant quests and the vampires have 5 there are a couple of quests that can become bugged on both sides. It is impossible without the console commands to craft crossbows and bolts as gumars forge doesn't appear until A New Order has been completed which is a Dawnguard quest. Lastly as far as i know you can't get the quest's Ancient Technology even if you pacify Sorine. 2.99.243.41 11:27, 26 August 2013 (GMT)

Volkair Vampires[edit]

The Best Side to be on is definetly the vampires because you get perks and stuff like that, whereas, the dawnguard dont let you become the leader. — Unsigned comment by 78.105.197.147 (talk) at 09:31 on 10 April 2013

The Dawnguard dont allow you to become their leader and you cant kill Isran — Unsigned comment by Ugod101 (talkcontribs) at 09:33 on 10 April 2013

"Joining" vamps as a Dawnguard[edit]

Was hoping that simply resurrecting Garan would allow me to fix the path to the garden after finshing DG side, but nothing, tried adding myself to vamp faction, but "VAMP PC faction" Doesn't appear to be the right one(but it's the only reasonable one on the faction page, and DLC1vamp faction redirects there) and all items were still marked as being stolen, still not sure if it's enough and/or if I have to use a setstsge as well. Anyone know the relevant ID's or if this is even possible? 121.223.75.26 22:40, 22 June 2013 (GMT)tHe_silent_H

The redirect just goes to the page as a whole. The faction is named "DLC1VampireFaction", so adding yourself to that faction may work. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:47, 22 June 2013 (GMT)
Catch is, that DLC1Vampirefaction(still redirects to V) isn't on the page, and Help "DLC1Vampirefaction" while valid, does not give an id's. It also isn't under D but there is a DLC1HarkonALLYfaction and DLC1HarkonEnemyFaction but I don't think those are the right ones either Sidenote: VampirePCfaction makes guards hostile 121.223.75.26 23:46, 22 June 2013 (GMT)tHe_silent_H
I'm not proficient in console usage, sorry. Here is more detail on the faction including editor ID and form ID (DG changes on load order of Dawnguard). Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 23:52, 22 June 2013 (GMT)
Thanks, it work, might want to add that to the faction to the faction index, alas though it's still no enough to get the dialog to fix the passage to the gardens. i think a setstage might also be req, or maybe something else but the final Quest ID is the same for both factions(according to the page) I really do want to see if it's possibe to get all the perks from both sides. 121.223.75.26 03:30, 23 June 2013 (GMT) tHe_silent_H

Vampire Attackers Non-Hostile to Player[edit]

I've had this happen a couple times, once a while after finishing the Dawnguard quest chain for the Dawnguard, and now one currently before I've even considered touching the quests. I'm fairly certain my mods are not to blame, as in both runs I had roughly the same mods and load order, and in both the vampires would be hostile with me onsight at first but then would become friendly and complain of friendly fire when I aid in their removal from whatever crossroad or town they're bothering. The only "solution" to this issue I've run across is some bug with a buff I didn't even knew existed, the Voice of the Sky or whatever from reading ALL of the etched tablets on the way to High Hrothgar, but like I said, I wasn't even aware of it's existence so naturally I don't have the buff. I've yet to see how vampires in Dungeons react as I haven't touched the quest this run and last run this bug only occurred after finishing the quests. If anyone knows what on earth is going on I would be greatful, and it probably should be listed somewhere on a relevant article. 75.71.82.54 03:14, 7 March 2014 (GMT)

Vampiric Spouse?[edit]

Hello, I read the wiki article and wanted confirmation about something; If I get the quest "the gift" (turn your spouse into a vampire) can I just choose to ignore it? This would really help my decision of which team to go on.--Mixer989 (talk) 14:57, 8 May 2014 (GMT)

Yes. You can ignore any of the side quests. The downside is that you won't be able to get a different side quest until you have completed the current one, and there is no way to abandon a Volkihar side quest.Valeria (talk) 01:36, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

Ancient Power - One Time Thing?[edit]

The description for this side quest states that it can be assigned more than once. I have NEVER had this happen despite trying very hard to trigger it. It doesn't help that I dislike most of the side quests, so once I have the Amulets of Night Power and Rings of Blood Magic, Ancient Power is the only one I want to do. Still, I save outside the castle and enter again and again and again trying to get Ancient Power to trigger a second time, and I just can't do it. I even tried doing some of the other side quests in case that was a requirement for getting Ancient Power to repeat. Didn't help. After hours and hours of trying, I eventually give up and just save on one of the less horrible side quests so that if I decide to try again, I won't be stuck with a side quest that I categorically refuse to do such as turning one of the NPCs. But that's how it has gone in every single playthrough where I've chosen Volkihar. Am I missing a step? Am I on a patch level where this side quest just doesn't repeat? Has anyone else seen this?
