Hi, Im Merari, at least that is the name of the endgame Altmer I play on my favorite game of all time, Morrowind. (potential lvl 74)

I know quite a bit about Morrowind, I got the game before I had internet and figured it all out myself (except the pilgrimage of seven graces. At a friends house I went online and found I was supposed to drown myself in the puzzle canal. I would Never have figured that out on my own, had the game about a year then:P) My own notes on Morrowind are two volumes of dummies thick and when I went online I was a bit surprised when I found this site. Not only does it have very nearly allmost all the information I have, it also had one or two things I never spotted! Including a minor quest, the named plant at Jobasha and a unique ash. I was in love.

Unfortunately after playing Morrowind for about five years I found myself getting more and more constricted in my gameplay. Because I knew everything. I was always an altmer apprentice custom class. (I call Avatar, in the classical sense.) I always got vampire out of the way before lvl 5. I knew about the fists of st. Randulf, the helm of Oreyn Bearclaw, the robe of the drakes pride etc. Raid the vivec vaults at lvl 3, sell at mudcrab merchant. Make +3 rest. fatigue, +1 restore health constant effect exquisite pants. (heavenly slacks) Always a Telvanni with endgame Hlaalu glitch because I love Tel Uvirith, and I love displaying unique souls on the second floor table. Etc, etc.

It was time for the next elder scolls. Im not wealthy but I was able to afford the simplest of xboxes and bought a disk that not only had oblivion, but also bioshock. Alas, it was vanilla oblivion, but, no harm no foul, after all I had played vanilla Morrowind such a long time and loved it. How wrong I was. After the intitial excitement I quickly became aware of just how buggy the game was. I grew to loathe the levelling problem, quest breaking bugs, the random loot, NPC behaviour, and most of all: No teleportation, no levitation! Argh argh argh. Then I noticed that apart from the necromancers moon there was hardly any new lore and many other minor aggrevations and I felt sad. I felt the game was rushed, not finished and truly did not live up to its potential.

Since then I have stubbornly stuck with oblivion and found that it has its merits. For one, I keep coming back to it, where with other modern games Im usually done forever after two playthroughs. As with Daggerfall and Morrowind the game is massive and non-linear (except for the levelling problem) and I do so enjoy a game where Im not guided through a narrowly set path. It is a perfect game to roleplay, to set goals and achieve them. In fact, if you do not compare it to or judge it by Morrowind, its a fantastic game. I should invest in a disk with some patches or expansions though.

So thats me and elder scrolls really, Id like to contribute to this site in any way I can, I think my best asset is that my games are absolutely unmodded or patched, so can serve as a baseline. I also have geek like skills in Morrowind game and gameplay, and consider myself an expert on TES lore, as I must have read every article in the lore section of this site three times by now ;)
