Rothis Dolovas is a Dark Elf Vampire of the Quarra Clan.

Rothis is the last member of the clan to have been turned before they left Morrowind, a fact he is not proud of and makes no effort to hide his disdain for. He never asked to join the Quarra, and he only stays with them as a matter of survival. If he had another option that wasn't worse than death, he would abandon them in a heartbeat.

Background

Even after the fall of the Tribunal Temple and the Oblivion Crisis, Rothis held true to the worship of Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Vivec. When Red Mountain erupted in the Red Year, Rothis jumped onto the first ship he could find leaving Vvardenfell. It was unfortunate that the ship he chose happened to be in use by the remnants of the Quarra Clan as they were leaving the island. During the journey to Solstheim, Rothis would be used as a source of sustenance by the vampires, and contract Porphyric Hemophilia and turn into a vampire as a result, to his horror and anger.

Rothis would stay with the Quarra for almost two centuries, not out of obligation, but a lack of better options. Taking his chances as a fledgling in the wilds would most likely lead to a painful death, and the temple doctrine he was raised on made him believe that there was no cure for his affliction. He hates the Quarra with a burning passion matched only by the hatred Volrina held for the Berne Clan, and that's part of the reason the Quarra leadership have kept him around.

The Bloodfire Amulet

No matter which faction you join, Rothis will appear inside the barrow after you have slain Aemar Coldblood and claimed the Bloodfire Amulet, intending to kill you and claim the amulet for himself. Once he is dead and the quest has been turned in, you can speak to your companion and ask them how Rothis managed to get past them.

• Agrius Amnis will tell you that Rothis approached him and knocked him out when his back was turned, hiding his betrayal until the right moment to strike.
• Narina Evicus will admit that Rothis caught her while she was examining a mural and tossed her over the bridge in the barrow's entryway.
• Bazur gro-Shagk will say that he was lured away by a group of vampires outside and Rothis probably slipped in behind him.
