Will somebody please kindly link this page to the toolbar along with all the other games? --Darkness has risen... 09:10, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Done. We'll have to change it later when the namespace is created, of course, but for now, this should work. --TheRealLurlock Talk 11:52, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Namespace Suggestion?

Is everyone happy with the namespace 'Online:', I was thinking 'ESO:' would work a little better. Of course this has probably already been debated and decided upon for various reasons, just a little thought I had. Ess-Tee 06:19, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

We all thought Online: made the most sense, mostly because most of the games are titled "The Elder Scrolls x: Name". We just call the namespace Name, since anything else is redundant. These are the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages, it's assumed that we're talking about the Elder Scrolls series.
Also, according to your suggestion, the links would be fully spelled out like [[Elder Scrolls Online:Races]], and the abbreviation would be [[ESO:Races]]. That's a mouthful, so we chose [[Online:Races]], which abbreviates to [[ON:Races]]. It makes the most sense in the long run. Besides, we did the same thing with Shivering Isles; the namespace itself is just called "Shivering". • JATalk 06:27, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
Ahh fair enough, guess the established way does make more sense, just my two cents. Ess-Tee 17:52, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Are you suggesting that we change the name of Zenimax Online changes the name of the game? If it's the latter, the name is pretty much entirely locked in at this point. If you are suggesting that we change the namespace's name, then what would you prefer for it to be called? Almost everyone was happy with this name when it was discussed previously, and since this is the name of the game, it only fits. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:31, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Mannimarco

How can Mannimarco be in this game if he has been stated to have started studying magic 230 years after the fall of the second empire? — Unsigned comment by 184.9.254.233 (talk) at 18:31 on 14 May 2012

Timeline

I felt I should note this here. If it's more appropriate elsewhere, I apologise. The previews say that ESO takes place in the 2nd Era roughly 1,000 years before Skyrim, which itself occurs in 4E 201. Exactly 1,000 years before that date would be 2E 531. Now, 299 years later in 2E 830 the Aldmeri Dominion comes into being, and we also know from ESO previews that the Dominion is one of the factions at the time. Therefor, ESO must take place after this date. Also factor in that by 2E 852, Cyrodiil is already under the control of Cuhlecain and Tiber Septim, while in ESO, Cyrodiil is in chaos and under the control of the Tharn family and Mannimarco. Therefor, ESO must take place before this date. In conclusion, ESO must take place between 2E 830 (to allow for the Aldmeri Dominion to exist) and 2E 852 (when Cyrodiil is conquered by Cuhlecain and the Third Empire begins to form). This means that ESO happens only around 700 years before Skyrim, not anywhere near 1,000, but that number may be rounded up for ESO's marketing ("1,000 years earlier" sounds better than "700 years earlier").76.181.65.128 02:57, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Honestly, from the video on the website (www.elderscrollsonline.com ) it sounds like the game is set between Oblivion and Skyrim. It speaks of how the dragonfires are cold and the throne is empty, as well as the return of old enemies and such.--Dro'Bakha 12:12, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
It's not. The Dragonfires aren't needed after Oblivion, and the throne wasn't empty. --Legoless 12:14, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
The video doesn't say the fires were needed again, just that they were cold. And the throne would have been empty until a new emperor was elected to take the throne for himself.--Dro'Bakha 13:08, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
The time period isn't from the teaser video, it's from GameInformer information. If you would read the article, or even the post above, you would see that it does not take place in the Fourth Era. --Legoless 13:51, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Just to say that if the IP is not above losing 300 years to suit a theory, then adding 300 years the other way fits a time period where most of the people where alive. The Silencer has spokenTalk 14:48, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
76.*'s argument isn't very far off. The previews did state that the event took place 1,000 years before Skyrim, but the Aldmeri Dominion didn't exist until 2E 820. He's suggesting that the people marketing the game are the ones touting "1,000 years prior". Since then Zenimax Online has confirmed that it does take place around 2E 550-ish, right around the time of the Knahaten Flu, but they still haven't explained how it is that the Aldmeri Dominion, which wasn't created until 2E 820, existed 300 years before its creation. So, 76.*'s argument is still valid.
Also, what do you mean by "...adding 300 years the other way fits a time period where most of the people where alive"? That's not possible, because the Second Empire was in control during that time (around 2E 250). The Potentate Versidue-Shaie wasn't assassinated until 2E 324, so the land was far from in turmoil. Also, it's been explicitly stated that the events of ESO take place during the Interregnum, which didn't start until 2E 431, when the Potentate's son was assassinated. • JATalk 16:19, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

() All I was saying is that it is speculation. And I was working off old info for the 300 years, but it wasn't an accurate number either way. The Silencer has spokenTalk 16:41, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

It's after the formation of the Aldmeri Dominion, therefore it is REQUIRED to be after 2E 830. It's prior to Tiber Septim's conquering of Tamriel, so it is prior to 2E 896. It is safe to assume due to the throne being in question that it is also after 2E 854.Balnagghar 02:50, 26 July 2012 (UTC)
Zenimax Online has already confirmed that the game will take place around 2E 550. • JAT 03:25, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

World of Warcraft mention

Do we really need the "it plays like WoW" line in the page when it's know that it doesn't? Looking at the list of features, it plays more like Guild Wars/Guild Wars 2 then it does WoW. 70.114.172.9 12:36, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm fairly sure that's a quote from an interview or blog post with an important Bethesda employee. The Silencer speaksTalk 17:49, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
I agree with the OP here, especially in light of the recent information that has come out about the game. The line relating it to WoW should be removed. From Combat, to PvP, to questing, to character development this game couldn't be any more different from WoW and still be called an MMO. — Unsigned comment by NordJitsu (talkcontribs) at 01:24 on 13 November 2012 (GMT)
It's just ridiculous how poorly ZeniMax has handled the early interviews. The line was accurate based on early information (as in, directly quoting WoW as an example), so I used it for comparison due to my own inexperience with the genre (I couldn't name any other good example off the top of my head). Considering how much they've gone back on since the early releases, my only explanation is that they simply had no control over the early interviews somehow, or they pretty much rebuilt everything from the ground up. Even small factoids on this article like the game being played primarily in third person are no longer accurate; with the latest information suggesting first person and over the shoulder are also equally viable as camera options. Considering how many specific details on this article were later contradicted, I can't help but worry that the developers were deliberately responding to this article and how it may sour some fan's reactions. I know that is ridiculously paranoid and almost certainly not true, but I still worry that this is my fault somehow. I've done some updating, and removed the line in question, but this article is simply missing a lot of the recent alpha information as of now and isn't the most accurate.
So to stop rambling and get to my point, while the original comment was accurate at the time based on their own comments, later information and their own claims of the contrary have long since made it defunct. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:24, 13 November 2012 (GMT)

Voiced Teaser

I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this, but I thought perhaps this might be worth a footnote.

I've watched the narrated preview trailer a few times and believe that the voice actor describing the darkened Dragonfires and the war-torn status of Tamriel is, in fact, the same actor who played Dumbledore in the last several "Harry Potter" films. Since the voice actors for important NPCs are described on other pages elsewhere on UESP, I thought this was worth noting. (I believe the actor's name is Michael Gambon but I am unable to confirm at the moment.)

On an unrelated note: THANK YOU to the admins and mods here. UESP is an incredible tool for lore nerds like myself.

Lore Conflict

So wait, they will "import" the Map from Oblivion? But Cyrodill is still a jungle at that time, no? Tiber Septim shouts it to be a woodland way into his conquest. ( I know that this shouting thing was a recton, because Bethesda didn't want to make a jungle but still) — Unsigned comment by 86.101.108.122 (talk) at 22:58 on 9 August 2012 (UTC)

They copied the height map, they said. As in, they copied the layout of the hills and mountains and lakes and rivers and etcetera... While I'm unsure if it will turn out to be the jungle it should be or just a spinning replica of the province as it was shown in Oblivion, I'm not aware of any evidence directly stating it will be a complete carbon copy. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:58, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh okay. I'm worried that this game will be the end of the series, I mean the story seems so out of the place and the gameplay so far, it's like a WoW clone. I'm afraid it will crash and burn like The Old Republic, but this time it will take the whole franchise with it, even if the Beth team isn't behind it. — Unsigned comment by 86.101.108.122 (talk) at 23:22 on 9 August 2012 (UTC)

I think there's a bigger issue here. Don't the Dunmer have REALLY bad issues with the Nords and the Argonians? I mean, they've got this whole "ancient enemy" thing with the Nords (there's a LOT in Morrowind on the subject) and they don't like the Argonians either (possibly because they're just over the border so "ohmygodlizzerdseverywhere"). I think the Ebonheart Pact is a little flawed... — Unsigned comment by 86.185.194.224 (talk) at 04:51 on 26 November 2012
Yes it is flawed, but as it says they have no choice in the matter, they can choose to either die to the Akaviri and the Empire or.. Unite and survive. Also in reply to 86.101.108.122 I think the game will be good, the concept, gameplay and setting all seem good. The only thing I see that would decide whether this game makes or breaks is how dedicated Bethesda will be to it, and their past record isn't amazing in regards to support for games. obviously it needs players but I'm definitely in I know that for sure. I imagine it will not be as popular as some other mmo's due to tes being a slightly smaller fan base and some of the fans hate the idea of an mmo in the first place. But it should be ok.--Nikolai5 (talk) 19:22, 10 December 2012 (GMT)
In response to Cyrodiil being a jungle at the time of ESO I was given this email response from zenimax online "Based on current Tamriel lore, Cyrodiil is not a jungle in The Elder Scrolls Online. To quote the scholar Phrastus of Elinhir: "The use of the phrase 'endless jungle' to describe Cyrodiil appears to be an error in transcription. Close study of the original, badly faded manuscript reveals that the phrase was miscopied, and should be more accurately rendered as 'extensive uplands.' The adjectives 'an equatorial rain' as applied to the Nibenay forest do not appear in the original manuscript at all, and I would posit were added by the scribe in support of his previous erroneous use of 'jungle.' Lady Cinnabar of Taneth, of course, takes issue with this exegesis, but the flaws in her methods of scholarship have been well-documented elsewhere." --Laddingtonbear (talk) 11:35, 8 April 2013 (GMT)

Whatever your opinions, the Lore from this game will be official, and will be incorperated as best as possible. SilencerSpeak 01:48, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
The only reason I said that is that the Lore of our 'Normal' TES overlaps with this 'Things' Lore.

() But the way I get it, they'll have regular battles in the imperial city, and the winner is named emperor. That would mean we might have to write stuff like "Doomslayer1984 was named emperor". besides this isn't even Bethesda. Hellspawn (talk) 16:24, 21 October 2012 (GMT)

No we wouldn't. Whoever wins the status of Emperor is really irrelevant in the long run. They'll be outed very shortly and there'll be a number of them due to their being more than one server the game is being played on, so it doesn't matter who the Emperor is in the long run. Historically, the winners will just be forgotten once Tiber Septim reunites the Empire at the end of the era. There seems to be quite a bit of lore missing from the game's time, so they almost definitely chose it so the winner can safely be forgotten. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:28, 21 October 2012 (GMT)
Agree, the emperor or "leading score holder" will most likely change from person to person alot over time. So references like this should be vague. Only major events and npcs related to lore should be recorded. — Unsigned comment by Winch1990 (talkcontribs) at 19:57 on 27 October 2012‎

"The Dragonfires cold; unlit"?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, I'm a newbie in this wiki stuff... but if the Dragonfires are unlit, then isn't Mundus vulnerable to invasion from another Plane of Oblivion? If they are unlit, why hasn't Mehrunes Dagon attempted to launch his attack now, instead of waiting for the Third Age? Is there a logical explanation, or is this another lore contradiction? --Lumos 14:34, 30 August 2012‎

No explanation is given. —Legoless 14:40, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
There is an invasion from another plane of oblivion. Molag Bal invades. -N1n2n34 4:11, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
As I understand the lore, White Gold Tower being non-operational (the Dragonfires themselves don't do anything in and of themselves; they're just a sign of the Tower being active) at that time wouldn't make a difference because Red Tower (Red Mountain) and several of the other mythic Towers that had been destroyed or rendered inactive by the time of Oblivion's plot were still active at the point that TES:O is taking place. - ND — Unsigned comment by 174.4.166.247 (talk) at 18:14 on 11 January 2014

Combat

This article states "Combat isn't played out in real-time", but in this interview it is stated it will be a real time combat-system. Was there a different, conflicting source? --Alfwyn (talk) 20:33, 19 September 2012 (GMT)

Yes, the source at the bottom of that section. As I primarily had one source for that section, I didn't bother to repeat for every bit. The original comment meant that you wouldn't be clicking your mouse to swing your sword every time like you would in Skyrim or Oblivion (just random examples). In fact, I based my original statement almost directly off of what was said in the original GI issue (which my memory fails me of now, so I can't remember what it said precisely). To be entirely clear, when I wrote that they were describing it as not taking place in real-time. The intended difference between it not taking place in real-time is that you aren't really controlling your actions to a fine degree. In Oblivion, if an enemy casts a spell at you would have the opportunity to dodge out of the way. In ESO, while you're definitely controlling your character, it's a bit more of a hands-off approach. If they're going to directly contradict the statement, I'd prefer for us to keep it as it is, but that's the original reason. This would fall under the "Details may be missing or incorrect" disclaimer on the article. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:52, 26 September 2012 (GMT)
It will probably depend on the definition of "real-time", the term is a bit vague. It probably won't be "turn-based" or such, but at the same time not as real-time as Oblivion was (speculation on my part). No idea what the definition of Matt Firor was, when he said combat will be real-time. --Alfwyn (talk) 19:10, 26 September 2012 (GMT)
That's one of the main reasons why I'm happy with it as it is. It's hard to interpret what someone meant perfectly. The matter is complicated when you have very little to judge what they're talking about based on your own observations. As a general rule for pre-release; it's usually best to just go with what the source says, even if you don't understand what they mean exactly. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:26, 26 September 2012 (GMT)

Transformational Diseases

In an interview at one of the game expos, they were asked about becoming a vampire or werewolf. They stated that they will be in the game as enemies but becoming one of these will not be the same option like in previous installment. Instead will be applied within certain quest, because if half the population decided to be one it would take away some of the overall enjoyment.

So we can say that you can be one or the other but only temporary depending on the given quest unless status changes. Sounds like a petty good option in a MMO such as this. — Unsigned comment by Winch1990‎ (talkcontribs) at 19:46 on 27 October 2012

This week they made mention that vampirism/lycanthropy will function as unlockable skill trees (similar to Skyrim). They did not say how the player goes about unlocking one of those trees or whether they are mutually exclusive. However, since it uses the same skill points as other skill trees, the player will have to decide how vampiric/lycanthropic s/he wants to become, at the expense of selecting those attributes/skills over perks available in other trees. First Oblivion Crisis?

Molag Bal's invasion of Tamriel has some similarities to Mehrunes Dagon's. Both have Daedra spawning about causing chaos. Molag's appears to be what helps the Empire unite (maybe why the Dragonfires was created to keep Oblivion separate) and Dagon's happened to be what sets up the Empires eventual weakening.

So is Molag Bal's actions in Online the "First Oblivion Crisis"? Making TES:IV the "Second" Oblivion Crisis? Lore-wise — Unsigned comment by 74.45.35.31 (talk) on 0:25, 27 October 2012 (GMT)

I doubt it's going to be called that, since the title has already been claimed. The Dragonfires have already been created by the time of TESO. Molag Bal's invasion certainly doesn't seem to have helped reunite the Cyrodilic empire either - quite the opposite in fact, as it causes the Second Empire to splinter into four hostile factions and essentially makes the title of emperor a free-for-all. Let's wait and see, instead of trying to guess at the new lore's impact. —Legoless (talk) 20:45, 27 October 2012 (GMT)
They would unite after Online when Tiber Septim takes power, regardless were there any other Daedra invasions in between Molag Bal and Dagon? Does the term Oblivion Crisis relate to events like these?
Tiber Septim had dragons and the Brass Tower at his disposal; he forced the provinces to unite with brute strength. I don't believe there were any other Daedric invasions in between the two. The Oblivion Crisis, as far as we know, is exclusively applied to Dagon's invasion, not Daedric attacks in general. —Legoless (talk) 21:06, 27 October 2012 (GMT)

Opinionated wording

Under Development and Release, first sentence; surely "as anticipated" is unnecessary here. Who's to say? In all honesty, that whole statement about the mixed reactions weirds me out because no one who views this page can look up the source. Source points to the June 2012 issue of Game Informer magazine, which may or may not in turn be opinionated.— Unsigned comment by Xmon (talkcontribs) at 13:33 on 27 November 2012

While I no longer have the magazine (though anyone could look it up if they did, so it is in fact possible to confirm), it did state something along the lines that they expected a poor fan reaction. The magazine story was definitely not strictly just an opinion piece, however. As the Game Informer issue was essentially the first press release on the game, I am utterly positive that they had virtually complete control over what was written. However, I'll remove the line as the rest of the statement is true, without that line. If you wish to argue on the validity of the statement as a whole, there are tons of available news pieces on the fan backlash over the MMO besides that source. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:43, 27 November 2012 (GMT)

Yet Another Lore Conflict: Time Settings

I have multiple points to say here:

1. The Aldmeri Dominion were formed in the 830th-ish year of the Second Era, how could they exist in the year 530-ish?

2. If time continues and days/months/years pass similar to the latest 3 Elder Scrolls Games, wouldn't this game eventually conflict with every other Elder Scroll game?

--121.73.178.148 07:29, 6 December 2012 (GMT)

In-game dates are never an issue in lore. The canon time period is usually the first year of the game, although older games like Arena officially span several years. —Legoless (talk) 18:05, 6 December 2012 (GMT)
This is a better topic for the forums linked on the sidebar. This talk page is for the article itself, and not for complaints about the game or its perceived issues with lore. However, to answer your points, the primary source for your first claim, The Pocket Guide to the Empire, 1st Edition, is essentially nothing but propaganda. The specific section on the Aldmeri Dominion is even annotated by an elf with the comment "I don't even know where to begin pointing out the lies". Bethesda left it open from Redguard for the known history of the Dominion to be fabrications. And Lego answered your second point. Even then though, they can easily get around time catching up. They could just make time scale with our own on a 1:1 ratio, meaning we'll realistically never catch up with other events in the ES timeline. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:08, 6 December 2012 (GMT)
Time won't pass 30 times faster than real world's, like it did in Oblivion, if that's what you mean under 2. If previous MMOs are anything to go by, the hour in the game-world will always be the same as the place where the physical server is located (Paris, Los Angeles, etc.) and thus days and years will pass as they do in real life. Given how unlikely this game is to survive 1000 years, I don't think it will ever conflict with the existing main-series games. 46.112.56.233 17:29, 13 February 2013 (GMT)

While I have not done so, I think it would be appropriate to add a section that this game is now in Beta testing - which means that we probably ought to have something available to reflect this. Also, if and when you do get a beta invite (it is not a sure thing by any means), you must sign an NDA saying that you won't talk about it, you won't post about it, you can't even say whether you are in it or not. As long as the NDA persists, any screenshots or other information from the beta will be deleted, for legal reasons. Jeancey (talk) 02:17, 25 January 2013 (GMT)

Added a few items to the list (indented) based on info from various PAX previews Mrrambles (talk) 01:09, 24 March 2013 (GMT)mrrambles
Indenting makes them seem like a subsection of the previous entry, I've unindented them. Jeancey (talk) 01:59, 24 March 2013 (GMT)

Full first person confirmed and other Pax East info

ZOS confirmed this week that full first person (w/hand anims) will be in the game at launch (info needs to be changed on main page). Also can add Stros M'Kai to the list of known places, as it is the Daggerfall Convenant's starting area. Also, character progression seems markedly changed, with more emphasis on "skill lines" and "skill trees" (some of which are related to class, one racial, all armor and weapons trees, a Mage's guild and Fighter's Guild tree, and world-unlockable trees like vampirism and lycanthropy). These trees open up based on how much a particular skill line is used (in traditional TES fashion). The XP/Leveling system seems to only affect when a character can increase their health/stamina/Magicka resources. I will be following PAX info w/ baited breath and adding more tidbits as they become available.

This is getting silly. First they state we won't have first person, then they say we will, then they say we will but it will be limited to looking at objects only, and now it's back to full first-person. Does anyone have a source we can use for this so we can change it back, as there is now some minor confusion around this subject? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:19, 23 March 2013 (GMT)
Here's a URL to Destructoid's press event coverage re: first person from 3/19. http://www.destructoid.com/elder-scrolls-online-will-fully-support-first-person-play-248674.phtml. Mrrambles (talk) 01:43, 23 March 2013 (GMT)mrrambles
Added a bunch of press reviews to Online:Previews. Lots of new info to be pulled from these sites. Most of the links I grabbed from TESO's official site, which also has several foreign language European links that I haven't added yet. Here is also a hands-on by community members of Tamriel Foundry for those interested. Mrrambles (talk) 15:00, 23 March 2013 (GMT)mrrambles
That's great! I've added the destructoid source, and will try to peruse the other ones. I've been neglecting ESO a bit too much, so it'll be nice to start to take a chance to add on a bit more. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:29, 23 March 2013 (GMT)
I've been adding things as I find them, all the professions have pages, which some small info on them (an example recipe when available for instance). The names of two, enchanting and Alchemy, might need to be changed because I'm not 100% that those are the official names (they could be enchanter and alchemist, which fits the style of the other professions names). However, even if they are different, the current names should exist as redirects, given how common they are in the rest of Elder Scrolls Lore. Other than that, we have the name of one of the 16 dungeons already, and its boss, though that could change between now and release. Jeancey (talk) 15:44, 23 March 2013 (GMT)

Tidbits from 8 April 2013 Ask Us Anything

Thought I'd pull out a couple of interesting tidbits from the most recent (as of this post) ESO Ask Us Anything.

1) Fast travel will be through Wayshrines (this has been discussed earlier). Travel between shrines is apparently free, travel to a shrine from elsewhere will have a gold cost.

2) Vampirism and Lycanthropy are mutually exclusive in ESO as well (presumably specc-ing in one skill line prevents you from using the other). No mention yet of whether you can cure either disease and/or switch between diseases more or less at will.

3) Sweet rolls and fishy sticks for all!

About NPC followers in other games

I don't think there is going to be NPC followers like Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim; because I think other players out there may be better than NPC followers. EmperorZurg454 (talk) 01:10, 6 June 2013 (GMT)

This is speculation and thus belongs in the forums and not here. Vely►t►e 01:19, 6 June 2013 (GMT)

Emotes

Does anyone have a problem with me adding a section about the emotes that will be in the game? MogMog Player 10:06, 9 September 2013 (GMT)

Okay I can't edit that page ... anyway maybe someone with those privileges may want to add a link to a page about emotes for something. Mog Mog Player 10:14, 9 September 2013 (GMT)
I don't see a problem with a small section on emotes. I'm not sure why you would be unable to edit the page... Jeancey (talk) 20:21, 9 September 2013 (GMT)
I just put up a quick article for emotes. —Legoless (talk) 20:45, 9 September 2013 (GMT)
Cool cool cool, sorry what I should have said is that I am not a high enough level to undertake such a quest (I'm a novice at wiki editing, so I thought i would let an expert do it) Mog Mog Player 04:40, 10 September 2013 (GMT)

Subscription on console?

Since it was revealed that the game was to be subsciption based to play only after the the first month, would this also apply for the new consoles that already have a subsciption for online service such as XBL or PSN? — Unsigned comment by Wrath425 (talkcontribs) at 20:28 on 3 November 2013

Yes. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:30, 3 November 2013 (GMT)
Yes. But i disagree with it being a subscription cost. Now I DO NOT want to start an argument or a debate over whether it should be subscription or not, as I understand both the pros and the cons of having it subscription, but as I said I am against ESO being a subscription cost ... it may cause me not to get it because I am a student and simply wont have the money. However i am curios to whether or not we could get a strike going - if we all refuse to purchase the game unless they scrap the sub cost, and instead make it a one of purchase, plus purchases for later add on packs, so that the money keeps rolling in? If the majority refuse maybe Zenimax will listen to us? Does anyoneagree with me? or am I simply being radical? I don't want an argument again but if you support taking friendly action then say support perhaps? Or disagree if you don't. Maybe its just me being over the top, what you you think team? Subscription discussion and action against the subscription, if not directly related to improving the article, belongs on the forums, so please take this discussion there. Vely►t►e 03:29, 4 November 2013 (GMT)

ESO Beta Info

So, with the completion of the latest beta event, I'm curious as to what info from the beta can be used in the wiki. It seems a lot of info on the wiki is straight from the beta (e.g., the skills page). Most of the pages in the ESO portion of the wiki are extremely incomplete, for obvious reasons. Would it be ok to help flesh some of these articles out using select info from the beta (such as racials and abilities), or should we wait until zenimax/Bethesda either give the go-ahead or release the game? (It's fantastic btw!) MeleeCyrus (talk) 07:18, 13 January 2014 (GMT)

Also, if it's *not* ok to use beta info for these types of pages, should pages w/o proper citation (like the skills page) be deleted? MeleeCyrus (talk) 07:23, 13 January 2014 (GMT)
Nothing from the beta, At all can be used. All the the info currently on the wiki is from another source that is not under the NDA. The skills, page, for instance, was gathered from events such as PAXPrime in Seattle, where people got to play for 30 minutes at a time. Most of the pages are going to be incomplete until more information is released or more events happen that are not covered by the NDA. Absolutely nothing that is from the beta and only the beta is allowed on the wiki. Doing so violates the NDA and we would be obligated to report such a breach. So, in short, be happy that you got to play, but for now, fleshing out articles is likely not gonna happen. Jeancey (talk) 07:34, 13 January 2014 (GMT)
Ok! Sounds good. MeleeCyrus (talk) 07:59, 13 January 2014 (GMT)
As of this morning (Feb 15), the NDA has been lifted for beta testers. Getting a decent signal-to-noise ratio may be a challenge, though. - ND — Unsigned comment by 174.4.166.247 (talk) at 18:28 on 15 February 2014
The NDA has been lifted for future betas, and for talking about previous experiences. Still can't share any hard data, screenshots or videos from previous beta events though. Jeancey (talk) 18:31, 15 February 2014 (GMT)

System Requirements

Shouldn't the game's system requirements (which have been announced by Zenimax [1]) be linked from the main page, as is the precedent set forth by the other games on this wiki? Voraxith (talk) 07:07, 15 February 2014 (GMT)

Actually, they are linked from the Main Page. At the moment there appears to be two main pages. Jeancey (talk) 07:46, 15 February 2014 (GMT)
Just a note on the two article comment: One is pre-release, one is post-release. Online:Online will be moved to Online:About, with Online:Main_Page moved to Online:Online. Thats what happened for Skyrim at any rate: Here and here. --Kiz(email - talk) 11:14, 15 February 2014 (GMT)

Skyshards

Shall we start making a list of the locations of the skyshards? This will be quite a task and it may be worth starting the list soon using our beta knowledge, just an idea. Mog 00:21, 16 February 2014 (GMT)

While locations are unlikely to change, they may still do as there are another 2 months until release. A page on what Skyshards are and do is acceptable and desired. On another note if you want to use a username you must log into that account. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:35, 16 February 2014 (GMT)
I don't see the harm in listing their locations early. Being ahead seems more important than the off-chance of having false info. —Legoless (talk) 01:43, 16 February 2014 (GMT)
Legoless has the right idea. Plus if any info is incorrect at launch then it will be easy to change, and far quicker than beginning typing up the list at launch. Plus if we create the page for them now then people may be able add to the list during this beta tomorrow. Mog Mog Player 03:14, 28 February 2014 (GMT)
