Within Fort Sphinxmoth I encountered one of the chapel guards. She believes more of her companions were still alive elsewhere in the complex.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Use the chains to free Eliana Salvius.
  2. Talk to Veranus Macatus, then relight the braziers.
  3. Talk to Decanus Vulso in the crocodile pit.
  4. Open the mage-lock, and escape Fort Sphinxmoth.
  5. Talk to Eliana outside the fort to complete the quest.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

While inside Fort Sphinxmoth, you come across Eliana Salvius, one of the Imperials who entered the ruins to recover Mara's stolen relics. She asks you to free her, then look for the other guards, Decanus and Veranus.

Free Veranus[edit]

Veranus Macatus is trapped in a "bubble of force". You can release him from it by relighting the braziers in the room.

Free Decanus[edit]

Decanus Vulso is in a different section of the fort. Enter the door on the eastern side, then before you cross the bridge you will hear him call out for help. He is in the crocodile pit. To escape the pit, you will need to figure out the correct order of constellations on a mage-lock. You can intimidate him, if you have the Fighters Guild Intimidation Perk, to find out that the bandit leader, Accalia, stole the relics for the Stonefire Cult.

Mage-Lock Puzzle Solution[edit]

The book next to the skeleton and the Steed panel can help you figure out the solution. The three panels you need to press are the Thief, the Tower and the Mage.

After you escape Fort Sphinxmoth, talk to Eliana who is kneeling outside the entrance to the fort.
