Kaluzan

Kaluzan is a Dremora who can be found at the Fargrave Crafting Plaza and in the northwestern side of Fargrave.

Dialogue[edit]

When he is first encountered, he can be found in argument with Pynufax with Grasp-Kyn Oloshaz mediating. In the middle of them is the swaying undead corpse of Theyo Laumont.

Speaking with Kaluzan, you can find out his side of the story:

"This short-horned swindler means to play me for a fool. As if I cannot tell the difference between a dead mortal and a living one."
What is going on here?
"Pynufax claims this shambling corpse is valid repayment for her debt to me.
I told her I would accept a mortal as payment. The intent of my words was clear. I desired a living one. As much as one can desire something so crude."
So, you summoned someone to arbitrate?
"Arbitrate? No, there will be no mealy-mouthed compromise. I summoned the Grasp to settle matters beyond protestation. They will rule in my favor."
The Grasp?
"Yes. The adjudicators of Fargrave's rules and customs. We derive these rules from the Stricture—a force few have dared to explore fully. The Grasp oversee all interpretation of the Stricture.
And as I said, the Stricture is on my side."

After a decision is made:

"This short-horned swindler means to play me for a fool. As if I cannot tell the difference between a dead mortal and a living one." [verification needed — no change in line]

You encounter Kaluzan a second time when his zombie servant attacked Elronor and was slain in self-defense. The Grasp will have been called out again to make a judgement. You can talk to Kaluzan to hear his side of the story.

"The tiny, sharp-eared mortal irreparably damaged my servant. I demand restitution!"
What is going on here?
"I turned my back for a moment and my bumbling servant wandered off. This mortal ran the creature through with a long-knife. Now, it is even less useful than it was before.
I demand the Grasp find a suitable punishment for this crime."
What kind of punishment?
"This mortal has nothing of value. No connections—no favors to trade. And what meager debt can I extract from it? No, suffering is only suitable compensation for my inconvenience.
I am sure the Stricture outlines an appropriate measure of torment."
He says your servant tried to bite him.
"A convenient excuse. The Grasp will show him no mercy."

Speaking with Grasp-Kyn Oloshaz, Elronor will either be punished or made to serve Kaluzan in Theyo's place. Once a judgement is made:

"Is only fair the mortal face punishment. Do you know how hard it is to find decent help around here?"

The third time you encounter Kaluzan, he will be a corpse. Elronor will have killed him and by Grasp-Kyn Oloshaz interpretation of the Stricture, no charges can be made until Kaluzan reforms and places a formal complaint.
