Jumping Through Walls[edit]

There have been a couple of reports now that you can jump through walls in the Arena, but those users who have tried have been unable to find these spots. For those of you who can, can you please provide details as to exactly where these spots are, and what resolution and what video drivers you're using, as I believe this may be a configuration-specific occurrence. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 22:38, 28 June 2008 (EDT)

I found one myself just before visiting this page! It's found when exiting the tunnel leading to the bloodworks. If you hug the wall to the left you'll come across a locked iron gate. If you hop on the sloped part of the jutting stone wall directly to the left, it seems you can slip past the gate and invisible barriers.75.45.65.185 18:12, 24 July 2008 (EDT)
Do you mean the gate that opens up just before you fight a combatant? I'm pretty sure that one's been mentioned before somewhere. What I was talking about was places where you can jump through a wall and fall off the map, or get to places that were never meant to be entered at all, such as walking "above" the Bloodworks instead of in it. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 19:38, 24 July 2008 (EDT)

Well, yeah, I guess that makes sense. But no, I wasn't talking about the gate that blocks you from entering the arena until the announcer is done making his little speech. Those two gates perpendicular to your gate both have small spaces where the invisible barrier allows you to slip through. And you can't jump above them because then you'll just end up floating in the jumping position. Sorry if its hard to understand what I'm saying. I get that alot. I'd give a link to an image if I had the PC version....75.45.65.185 19:50, 24 July 2008 (EDT)

I must be misunderstanding, because I can't find the location that you mean at all. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 17:45, 31 July 2008 (EDT)
I know I'm a little late for this, but you can jump through the wall with a high enough acrobatics skill in the area you start at when entering an arena match. Here are some screenshots to clarify: [1] [2]

Chorrol Arena Evidence[edit]

If you go to the cell in which you watch fights, type tcl on the console and go to opposite side of the veiwing stands, go up a little, and you will see two thrones in front of an inactive door marked Arena Entrance, that may have been the Countess of Chorrol's seat back when it was in Chorrol.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 00:39, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

There's lots of stuff like that... The two different cells, Chorrol and IC, are accessed separately depending on whether you're spectating or fighting. --GKtalk2me 01:00, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
But that's a very interesting little slice of paradise for the noble people to stay and watch fights.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 03:54, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

City Arenas[edit]

I saw in the CS that almost all town Beggars had an AI script reading "Beggar visit arena", which may suggest at once all towns were once meant to have an arena.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 23:05, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Yet another Arena discovery...[edit]

...By me, again. Ever wonder why Istirus Brolus, Didier Aumilie, Shelley, Andragil, J'bari, or Graklak gro-Buglump don't have anything to do with anything? It's because they all were intented either to be the bookmakers or workers in the towns' lost arenas! Okay, two are master trainers. Ever wonder why J'bari and Andragil never leave their house but got to be masters at what they do...?

This can be found by a "Have a good day now." Dialogue specific to all of them. It's under the quest ArenaDialogue, and also is applied to Hundolin. It's a customary goodbye saying "Thanks for doing buisness with me!".

After the "Every town has an arena" idea was dropped, they became unimportant, so they all just became normal cizens.

Last, but not least, this can mean Graklak's low responsibility was not a mistake, but intended as he was going to be a bookmaker, a dirty guy who sees people getting mauled every day. I want to put this information on every person's page, but I think I might go ahead of myself if I do it. It may just be speculation on the entire thing, but they do share the ArenaDialogue strip "Have a good day now." --Arch-Mage Matt Did I Do That? 19:58, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Fascinating, although I don't get the low responsibility thing: Hundolin has a responsibility of 100, for instance. It's amazing what little things like that are tucked away inside the game files. rpeh •TCE 20:03, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Brilliant find; it explains the rumor about Graklak: "I wouldn't mind making a few bets, but I'm not sure about Graklak. He seems a bit slick to me." and J'bari: "Have you ever made any bets with J'bari?" There's probably more, but I have always wondered what they meant. Definitely needs a mention, if we can figure out exactly what to write. --Krusty 20:09, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Just took a look at Shelley, and it is worth noticing that she was supposed to take bets at certain times of the day - which, in her case, is when she stands around doing nothing behind Borba's from midday to 5pm - and that is when you will hear that special farewell. Hopefully, the times can be found in the CS. --Krusty 20:45, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Actually, that is just the CheydinhalWanderGardens12x5. The greeting only is said from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. There is an AI package named GraklakgroBuglumpWork, also.
And I discovered something... interesting. Two responses for an unwritten question about Shelley are "I'd like to bet, but I don't want to be told that what I'm doing is sinful." and "I don't mind betting, but it's not worth having to hear a lecture about it." Now what is that about?
On an unrelated note... a response about Voranil is "He's an ass. There's no excuse for his behavior." :D --Arch-Mage Matt Did I Do That? 21:48, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Hundolin[edit]

It was 10 am and he was still in the bloodworks. So I bet on a match in there. When I went to go see the match, nobody was there watching it. Once the match was over, the spectators all walked in the door. (I was like "you're a little late, guys") Anyway, I left the spectators area and Hundolin was nowhere to be found. I reloaded it and it was fixed, but I wanted to know if this has happened before.

I think he has a lunch break at 12pm, so he could have just gone inside the Arena Bloodworks Kitkat1749 21:45, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Betting - Fighters Base HP[edit]

What is the base HP of the fighters?, is +5 HP from luck minor or major? 188.103.43.203 14:57, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Might be a little late but here is what I found out: Beeing curious on my own I just checked it using the console commang "getav health" My blue team Gladiator had 145 HP and the yellow teams Gladiator had 140 me having 50 Points in Luck. So at 100 Luck you get an increase of HP by a little bit more then 20%. Anyway the Arena combatants got random aromor and weapons so the real impact on the match is in the armor chosen. For example my gladiator just had a wron warhammer (twohanded), a steel shield (obviously useless) the usual light rainment and an elven helmet while the yellow teams gladiator only got a leather helmet and a steel warhammer as well as his heavy rainment. The weapons seem to range from Iron shortswords to steel warhammers as well as fur or iron to elven or steel concerning armor (shield and helmet). Something quite notable is the blue gladiator always carrying 100 steel arrows. One final thing I'd like to add is that the arena combatants got a blade skill of 50 and a blunt skill of 60 making blunt weapons a little more powerfull then blades but the most heavy impact might be the difference between heavy and light armor. Despite heavy armor granting already a better protection then light armor their light armor skill is way lower then their heavy armor skill with the ligh armor skill (6) beeing only one-tenth of the heavy armor skill (60). This is what I got in 10 test runs so it might still be very inaccurate but should provide a little detail on . I didnt want to search through the CS because I'm not that used to it yet (only started to look at it recently as I never wanted to ruin my gaming experience before) and I was already next to the arena and had my game running. As soon as I stop playing nex time I migh concider creating an account for this page but please pardon any grammar or spelling mistakes as I, beeing german, am not a native speaker. — Unsigned comment by 93.200.95.15 (talk) at 08:17 on 23 May 2012

The Note[edit]

The Article says this under notes, "It is possible that the Arena was originally intended to go in Chorrol, as the actual betting area is named "ChorrolArena" in the editor and nearly all of the parts to make the Arena have the prefix Chorrol in them. There is also a cell named "AnvilArenaMain" in Anvil, which is centralized outside the walls. However, no other traces of an Arena can be found in Anvil. It is presumed that the developers decided to change the location to the Imperial City because of size restrictions in Chorrol and Anvil or just because it would seem more fitting in the Imperial City."

However, I was under the impression that Beth had intended for there to be an Arena in every city, and this is something I've come across on the Forums, particularly from the modder Giskard. I'll look into more actual sources and speak to Giskard again, but has anyone else heard these claims? And if so, should we revise this to include that as an alternate theory (i.e. list both theories)? --OblivionDuruza 17:03, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

2 Doors?[edit]

Hi this isn't important, but when your betting on a match, there are 2 doors to get to the balcony for spectating, yet on the balcony there is only 1 door??? I've been through both and they both lead to the balcony, so has anyone else noticed that??? It's a bit weird... — Unsigned comment by 124.179.246.186 (talk) at 07:49 on September 10, 2012

I hadn't noticed, but it's an architectural trick where two sets of stairs can bend and converge into one and lead to a door. I've seen it used in real life. Also the temple in Markarth in Skyrim uses the technique slightly differently, but to the same effect. Golden SilenceBreak the Silence 13:10, 10 September 2012 (EDT)

Spinning Sword[edit]

grab or knock down a iron claymore form the rack in the bloodworks and the other will spin (unless you pick it up or knock it down). If it stops without falling, just hit it with your sword to start it again. The spectators?[edit]

Shouldn't it be noted that the spectators outside of the balcony that you stand on while watching a match aren't NPCs, but animated objects? I've never seen anything like that in any other Elder Scrolls games, after all. I think it's worthy of note. — Unsigned comment by 65.185.145.37 (talk) at 21:12 on 16 March 2015 (GMT)

I feel like it was already noted somewhere, but go ahead. —Legoless (talk) 00:06, 17 March 2015 (GMT)

Second viewing area?[edit]

Today, using console commands i no-clipped across the arena to the other side where there is another viewing area opposite the one the player sits in but a bit higher up. It has two thrones and benches either side of them and a door called Arena Entrance. This is interesting, even when using console commands to activate the door it does not open. I wonder if this is just lore related like where the Emperor would have sat or if the developers missed it out. You can find this when no-clipping when betting but, if you no clip up there when you should be fighting the thrones are replaced with normal chairs and the door has different values. — Unsigned comment by Oddub (talkcontribs) at 21:07 on 20 July 2015

I remember seeing the area you're talking about years ago when I was playing, but don't remember much about it. It could well be an Emperor's area, but we can't put anything on the page itself, because it would be purly speculative. Robin Hood  (talk) 01:38, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
