A member of the Mistrunner Clan ca. 2E 582

Mistrunner Clan was one of numerous clans of Reachfolk that lived in the Reach during the Second Era. Members of the clan valued nature and considered stone dwellings as not fit for the ways of the Reachfolk. Members of the clan claimed that living in the stone houses of Markarth changes the way people perceive things.[1]

History[edit]

Markarth decorated with green pergolas.

Before their relocation to Markarth, the Mistrunners inhabited a forest within the wild perimeters of the Reach.[1]

In 2E 582, the Gray Host descended onto the Reach to search for an ancient artifact of great power. Many of the Reachfolk clans stayed in Markarth at the behest of Ard Caddach.[2][3] The Mistrunner Clan or at least a part of its members was among the clans that answered the call and moved to the City of Stone. It was however a reluctant decision.[4][1]

In the same year, one of the members of the Mistrunner Clan, Anafira, joined forces with Z'en worshiping Bosmer Laeryll in an effort to bring more nature to the City of Markarth. According to them most of the greenery found within the city walls came from their efforts. Laeryll expressed the belief that softening the dead stone of the city walls with the bounty of nature could help Reachfolk clans with achieving harmony with each other, but Anafira of Mistwalker Clan saw this topic more critically.[4][1]
