Welcome[edit]

Hello QuNybble! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! —Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:09, 2 February 2013 (GMT)

PS, what's with the images, they aren't of the sort we usually use? Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:09, 2 February 2013 (GMT)
Thanks for the welcome! Im still going through the site and like what I see. QuNybble talk 1114, 2 February 2013 (MDT)

Not Wikia[edit]

We are not the wikia site, and have no use for the images you are uploading as Skyrim images. If you wish to use them in your userspace, please use the correct format, File:User-QuNybble-<name>. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:16, 02Feb2013(GMT)

(edit conflict) Yeah, I'm not so sure these are a good idea - first of all we're talking about thousands of images to get all the pages of every book. The covers in particular are unnecessary, as there's only a few dozen different book cover designs. (See Skyrim-Icons-Books.) The other problem with these is that they're not text-searchable like our current book pages, nor can you copy/paste the text for use in discussions or quotes in articles. I can almost see an argument for these on King Olaf's Verse, since those smudged-out characters cannot currently be displayed on the site, but there's got to be a better way of doing this. I agree that that covers are not necessary. I have just been playing around with uploading files and only linked the ones from King_Olaf's_Verse. There was a template stub on the page requesting images of the books, so I added some. I dont plan on adding images of all the books - but was considering those lost to quests that cannot be re-read. Thanks you Legoless and The Silencer for revisiting my changes. I don't like the updated images however, and find their quality and appeal to be lacking from the edited screenshots (50px vs 50px).QuNybble talk 1126, 02Feb2013(MDT)
What we've usually done in these cases is take images of just the smudge text and include it in with the regular text. Of course, usually there's a full alphabet whereas here there's just 5 or 6 different smudges. Might be better than just screen-shotting the entire page either way. As for whether the book is lost to a quest or not - that's really not relevant. We include all books on the site whether they're re-readable or not. TheRealLurlock (talk) 19:51, 2 February 2013 (GMT)
The replacement images I uploaded are of very poor quality. I was hoping the smudge images themselves could be extracted from the game files, similar to what was done with other books. —Legoless (talk) 20:08, 2 February 2013 (GMT)
I have the game on PS3 and am grabbing screenshots over a HDMI v1.3b vamp, so i do not have access to the game files. I'll grab just the smudges and see how they look on the page. QuNybble talk 1402, 02Feb2013(MDT)
Unless you think you can improve on the edited screenshots, I'd wait for someone to just take them from the game files. Otherwise they'll just end up getting replaced. Although if you're capturing high-quality images from the PS3, I'm sure there are quite a few pages which might benefit from a console-specific image (glitches, interface differences, etc). —Legoless (talk) 21:17, 2 February 2013 (GMT)
Nice work on the images, however you managed to do that! I've re-uploaded them under the correct file names; if you want to replace files in the future, there's a "Upload a new version of this file" option beneath the file history table. —Legoless (talk) 22:10, 2 February 2013 (GMT)
Its not perfect, but better. Skew, perspective, and rotation are a little off but there it is in mono-colour transparent-background! QuNybble talk 1512, 02Feb2013(MDT)
PPS, Images replaced with old, not new pngs: SR-book-King Olaf's Verse 01.png SR-book-King Olaf's Verse 02.png QuNybble talk 1512, 02Feb2013(MDT)
If you're seeing the old images, it's a caching issue. Do a hard refresh of the page to fix it. —Legoless (talk) 22:28, 2 February 2013 (GMT)
First thing I tried... The first image was correct but the second one only looks good in a second [different] browser. The res and size are correct however so for some reason the second image will not recache in chrome. Thanks for noting me as the original uploadee on the new images! Signature[edit]

It seems to me your signatures are manually set. You do know about the use of four tildes (4 × ~) to make an automatic signature with timestamp activating on "Save page"? Just like this: MortenOSlash (talk) 22:05, 17 April 2013 (GMT)
