Welcome[edit]
Hello ModderElGrande! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:
- Policies and Guidelines: UESPWiki standards and expectations
- Quick Editing Guide: a quick guide to wiki markup
- Getting Started: how you can help
When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our Patrollers really appreciate it!).
Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox and don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors if you need any help. Have fun! --Wolok gro-Barok->T->C->E 19:04, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Junipe Snille[edit]
Hi there! I just wanted to let you know that the page you created about Oblivion:Junipe Snille|Junipe Snille has been proposed for deletion. I've also removed the entry for Hanchel Hovel/Junipe Snille on the Oblivion People page. Characters from third-party mods don't belong in the Oblivion space, or really anywhere on the site. Feel free to move the character information to your user space if you like. If you'd like to help with the Oblivion NPC Redesign Project, check out the project page here. Thanks! –Eshetalk 22:53, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- Likewise, your mod page on Hanchel Hovel has been proposed for deletion. Only a limited number of mods are covered on UESP, as explained at the mod guidelines. Other sites are designed to give coverage of all the available mods, which also means that those are the places where other people are going to be looking for such information. --NepheleTalk 05:33, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
I Take Offense To That Message[edit]
Eshe! I take offense to the message you sent me about my Hanchel Hovel mod. It is NOT a third party mod and if you delete it, I shall delete every other entry as well. I demand that you restore my entry otherwise... well, it's already been said...
ModderElGrande 19:41, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't mean to cause offense, but Hanchel Hovel and its residents do not exist in the the game and are therefore what we call a third-party mod. As we have pointed out, mod information is quite regulated here and you should read the guidelines before attempting to post it again.
- Also, please refrain from making threats as you did above. We did not mean to offend you with our feedback, but we do not tolerate hostile behavior here. –Eshetalk 20:17, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Your sandbox[edit]
I've moved your sandbox to User:ModderElGrande/Sandbox. You may want to change your user page to reflect the new location, because the first has been deleted since there is no "MEG" namespace and user sandboxes should be in the userspace. Let me know if I can help with anything. --GKTalk2me 23:29, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks GK, I didn't know how to create subpages when I created them (well I know now) so I just bunged in a little custom place. Thanks again for moving it to the correct place and I'll change the links as well. :D
-
- Also, I've deleted the page you'd created as a talk page; having more than one just confuses others, and makes it more difficult to contact you. You can change the link on your user page to point here (User talk:ModderElGrande). --GKTalk2me 23:34, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Other people's comments[edit]
Hi ModderElGrande!
I just undid your edit to User talk:Warp9pnt9, because you altered another user's post. While the change wasn't harmful or anything, it's generally frowned upon. So, if you could refrain from editing another user's post, it would be much appreciated. Thanks and happy editing/modding! Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 11:02, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- I edited it because it'd look kinda better, I mean, instead of having an ugly block of text, I changed it so it'd look neater. ModderElGrande 12:49, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Piracy Section[edit]
Am I the only person who thinks we should have a piracy section to discuss piracy, you know like what people think over pirated copies of Oblivion, I'd say, they should be eliminated because piracy is bad! ModderElGrande 17:19, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- Discussions regarding piracy are strongly frowned upon. It should be sufficient to say that piracy is both illeagal and immoral, and leave it at that. No further discussion is necessary. Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs,E-mail) 17:28, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- Oops, must've forgot to read the rules when I first came here. --ModderElGrande 17:01, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
One Week Block[edit]
This account has been blocked from editing UESPWiki for a week pending on a discussion among the community on whether to extend the perma-block handed to 78.147.79.254 to this account. The same IP address was used by you five minutes after it was used to make personal attacks, which are against the rules here at the UESP. If you wish to appeal the block, you may make your request on your talk page, which you can still edit even while being blocked. —Ratwar 17:43, 7 January 2010 (UTC) |
Sorry, I didn't know that piracy was a banned topic. About the attacks though, I do not know about. Is it okay if see what attacks were made? I did make an edit which could been classified as an attack but apart from that I do not know what you are on about. ModderElGrande 18:12, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Block Appeal[edit]
I do not know about the attack Ratwar was on about, I did make an edit that might have been classed as an attack but I don't think it was because it would have been removed and it's still there. Please may I see what the attack that was mentioned?
Okay now onto the appeal itself, I didn't know piracy was a banned topic and I sincerely apologise for what I did. I personally don't see why piracy is really illegal but rules are rules. I really want to help contribute to this wiki, after all, it helped me out on numerous occasions so I thought I should give something back in return. My edits so far in the actual articles (as in the actual wiki of the game) are only minor but are sincere.
Again, I deeply apologise for what I did, although, I'm not sure what the attack actually was, so if it is okay by you, please may I see what attacks were made?
Thank you for your time and consideration. --ModderElGrande 18:24, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- You weren't blocked because of the piracy comment, you were blocked because of your connection to a vandalous IP address. If you click on the address listed in the block message, you will see a list of the edits that address made. The first is a nonsense edit, and the the last (on Eshe's Talk page) is the attack mentioned in the notification. Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs,E-mail) 18:35, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- Fine. I'll admit it, it was me. It's because I felt angered about the deletion of my Hanchel Hovel and Junipe Snille articles, but that was no excuse for what I did, I deeply regret what I did and I apologise prefusely. --ModderElGrande 18:38, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
False Revert[edit]
Okay, one of my changes that I made as an anonymous user was reverted when it shouldn't have been. I changed al least to at least but it was reverted when it shouldn't have been. The changes was in the Oblivion Alteration Training Quest. ModderElGrande 11:20, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hang on, doesn't matter now, someone corrected it. --ModderElGrande 11:23, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
When Will It Be Lifted?[edit]
Seeing as my appeal failed I guess I've have to wait for my block the be lifted, when will the block be lifted/removed? --ModderElGrande 21:12, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Well, since no one seems to be discussing your situation here, the current block will expire in a week from the day you were blocked or 14th January --MC• S'drassa •T2M 21:17, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- That would be from tomorrow then. --ModderElGrande 19:41, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Bots[edit]
I have seen many users that have bots. How can I get a bot? --ModderElGrande 20:37, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, only one bot is active at the moment (RoBoT, controlled by Rpeh). Aside from that bot, only NepheleBot has also a bot status. The bots are used here to make dull and repetitive tasks, such as making tons of redirects or changing trails. To answer your question, the only way you can get a bot is if you know abut template markup and that sort of things (pardon me, I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff). You need to create different scripts which will then be used to make the bot function. That's more or less the "basic" explanation of how to get a bot, but if you want to know more you should ask rpeh. --S'drassa •T2M 22:16, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- Alright, I'll do it when I've got a bit more time because time's against me a bit right now... --ModderElGrande 07:59, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
People Ganging Up Against Me[edit]
And I'm getting fed up of it. --ModderElGrande 19:12, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
- Honestly, stop this pathetic whining. Nobody is ganging up on you, the Community is simply expressing its opinions, which happen to be opposite to yours. This is a wiki, an encyclopaedia, therefore our aim is to document. Those image serve to document certain mods which are covered where at UESP. Now, nobody is forcing you to stare at them nor are they being linked anywhere extremely visible; the warning at the top of the Body Mods page says it all.
- Furthermore, nude bodies do not indicate pornography; nude is a famous component of art. Are you saying Michelangelo's, Leonardo's, Raffaello's and others great works of nude art and sculture are pornographic??? And plus, I don't see how someone could, put bluntly, be sexually aroused by computer images. Therefore I ask you to stop posting accusatory comments just because people disagree with you. If you're not mature enough for that, then just leave. --SerCenKing Talk 19:28, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

- I'd like to stop by and assure you that no one is ganging up on you. Your comments and opinions were treated to a fair discussion, just as any editor's would be. The fact that consensus opposed your opinion is not a personal matter, so please don't take it as an insult to you. Also, please note that no one made any remarks aimed directly at you, simply your position. Please refrain from comments against other users, even in edit summaries. --GKtalk2me 20:44, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Elder Scrolls MMO[edit]
What does everyone think the Elder Scrolls MMO is gonna be like? --ModderElGrande 17:57, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- Awful probably, if it's anything like the other attempts at multiplayer spinoffs from established single-player gaming franchises. Can't say I'm looking forward to it. -Itachi 18:07, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
-
- Sorry to interrupt, but there is a specific page where such issues are discussed. This is not a forum - if you would like to gripe and so forth please take it somewhere else. Thanks. --SerCenKing Talk 18:10, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

-
- I never said I wanted to gripe about it SerCenKing, I just wanted to discuss it, this is my talk page, not yours. You can do what you want with your talk page, just like I can do what I want with mine. --ModderElGrande 19:52, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

- Also, Itachi, I agree with you, if it's gonna be an MMO like Runescape then yes, it's not gonna be that good, if it's just an elder scrolls game with multiplayer feature installed then I'm looking forward to it, I've heard it's gonna be an MMO though unfortunately, can't say it's true though, you might want to check up on that. --ModderElGrande 19:54, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Colours?[edit]
Um, why are you messing with the colours of your block notice? And why aren't you using the Show Preview button to see what it looks like? :S -Itachi 20:04, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- Please stop tampering with official block notices as it against policy. If you wish to experiment on hex colors feel free but either use Show Preview or do it in a sandbox. Consider this an unofficial warning. --SerCenKing Talk 20:16, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- Fine jeez. --ModderElGrande 20:42, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- We aren't trying to harass you, we're just stating that if you want to see how the colours turn out then you can use the show preview button! A block notice is not the best place to test colours, because it's an official notice and shouldn't be tampered with. -Itachi 20:45, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, by the way I wasn't getting at anyone in particular, I'm just getting fed up people telling me to do this and not to do that and all that shit. --ModderElGrande 20:58, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- Look, I'm sorry if my tone was bit harsh there. Believe me, I'm not singling you out and I don't have anything against you. The reason why I posted was because you apparently didn't take any heed of Itachi's comment above. I know from personal experience that when you first arrive on this wiki you can feel overwhelmed by the policies and by people telling you off for things you wouldn't think about. For example see here and here. I had my share too, and I've learnt from my mistakes. Often it is better to get these things right immediately then later. :) All the best, --SerCenKing Talk 21:32, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

Please, stop[edit]
Would you please stop re-adding the topic to General talk:The Future of TES Games. The topic you're adding, while not unrelated to the article, only contains opinions about how the game would be. I'm going to place the box on the top of the page here:
This talk page is to discuss the contents of the article, The Future of TES Games. This is not a forum but a wiki article talk page. In other words, only information about the likely content of future games should be discussed on this article. Gripes about past TES games do not belong here; your personal wishlist of features in a future TES game does not belong here. If you want to get other people's opinions on your favorite game ideas, please use a forum or other appropriate website for such a discussion. Comments that are not relevant to the article will be deleted. |
You've already been told by two users (in edit summaries) that the topic clearly doesn't belong there, since it consists of purely gripes about how it would if they create the MMO game, so I'm asking gently to stop re-adding the topic, if you want to discuss it, go to the forums instead. I'm going to revert it one more time, so hopefully you won't re-add it back again, otherwise it will warrant some more serious actions. --S'drassa •T2M 17:22, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sdrassa, Now you're using the word gripe when it clearly does not apply. It is a discussion page, a place where editors discuss things related to whatever page the discussion it is linked to. What I put was merely discussing the page not "griping" about what was going on. Not all editors would say it would be awful, everyone's opinions are different as you know.
- Furthermore, it says in the notice above "discuss the contents of the article" well my discussion was discussing the contents of the article.
- Also I can't get onto the forums, everytime I login with my username and password it doesn't work. --ModderElGrande 17:41, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
-
- The UESP forums use a separate account; you'll have to sign up for a forums account.
- Also, please note: "only information about the likely content of future games should be discussed on this article" and "If you want to get other people's opinions... please use a forum or other appropriate website". The talk article that your discussion was removed from was intended for discussion of the article and ways it might improve; there is no way anything discussed in that discussion could improve the article.
- Create a forum account, and try it out; that's a more appropriate place for a discussion of that type. We really don't get into people's "opinions" on the wiki, since we strive to document facts. Let me know if you have any questions. --GKtalk2me 17:52, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks GK! --ModderElGrande 17:53, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

-
- (edit conflict) The purpose of the wiki is to document the Elder Scrolls series. Its talk pages are intended for editors who wish to discuss improving the articles. Even without the disclaimer on that particular page the comment you keep adding would have no place here. If you want to share opinions on the series you can use the forums.

Deletion Request[edit]
Please could someone delete User:ModderElGrande/Games|my games page as I don't know how to yet? I've blanked the page and if anyone could delete the subpages within the game page then that would much appreciated too. --ModderElGrande 18:05, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- You'll need to add a {{prod}} or {{speed}} deletion tag to the page to mark it for deletion, although since it seems that some admins are around, I'm sure that they will notice this topic and delete your games page. Just a note in case you need to mark something for deletion in the future, though --S'drassa •T2M 18:10, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, the page has gone now and I've removed the text from my userpage. Thanks! --ModderElGrande 13:00, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Just for the record...[edit]
I think most people know about "that" blog. It's why I have the album covers on the left hand side of my user page. Reactions range from outrage to laughing out loud and back again, depending on what Tiber says when about whom. I really don't mind what he says about me, and I know for a fact that at least two other editors don't mind their nicknames either. Don't worry about it. rpeh •T•C•E• 22:40, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- I thought I'd bring it up because it's soiling the good name in public. He also gave nicknames to other users such as Ratwar and SerCenKing. I won't say what the nicknames were but they were very offensive (the one he gave to Ratwar was especially offensive) and he showed me getting "owned" by another editor too, I've already reported nearly every entry of that blog so I guess we'll just have to see what happens. --ModderElGrande 22:44, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- It's really not. I know - and many others do too - about the nicknames. Ratwar's nickname was one given to him by a respected IRC member many months ago - TS has just picked up on it. If you're getting offended about that blog, you need to develop a much thicker skin. rpeh •T•C•E• 23:00, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure that you could, should you wish to do so, take the author of the blog to court. If you are a UK Resident then the language he has used against you (and other Editors too) is classed as Libel and so falls under Defamation. It states that if a statement makes a claim, whether it be expressed as a fact or merely stated, that may give an individual (you and the editors) or group (UESP in general) a negative image then it is classed as defamation. If you live in the US then is does, of course, depend on which state but it is a general rule of thumb that defamatory court claims are taken individually and assessed as to whether or not they are defematory (which, in my eyes, they clearly are). There was no real purpose to me telling you this other than to inform you (and the others who are involved with this and are bothered by it) of roughly where you stand with all of this in terms of the law :P Jaden 23:03, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Woah there, court? that is a little extreme and besides, he Is using freedom of speech and has accused nothing (in America at least) so it wouldent be considered libel anyways. besides it is a harmless blog, nothing more, nothing less.--Corevette789 23:09, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- (e/c)Sorry, but no. There is nobody living anywhere on the planet called "ModderElGrande", "Ratwar" or even "Rpeh". Of those three, my nick related closest to my real name and I still wouldn't have recourse to libel - and neither would I want to bother with it. Apart from anything else, nothing Tiber has said is libelous in any way - it basically boils down to him not liking various things about various people. If he were to say "Joe Bloggs, who edits under the name ZZZZZZ on UESP, has sex with animals", there might be a case... but saying that a certain editor is a hypocrite, lacking in talent or things of that ilk isn't going to get you very far in court! rpeh •T•C•E• 23:12, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Reply to Rpeh's message[edit]
I'm not offended by it, I actually lol'd when I saw the entry about me and SCK because I couldn't believe how childish someone would be to actually create a blog merely to badmouth editors on UESP. I might actually put a picture of Meg Griffin from Family Guy on my user page seeing as the editor referred to me as MEG lol. --ModderElGrande 23:15, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Laws are different here in the UK though so I could actually take him to court as Jaden mentioned, but I'm not going to. --ModderElGrande 23:15, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Welcoming New Users[edit]
Look, your a patroller so I'll save you the welcome stuff but when welcoming new users could you put a header/title on them so your edit doesn't take up multiple lines and is easier to read? I've done this same thing so I figured I would pass this on to you.-Corevette789 21:45, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not a recent changes patroller, or at least, I don't think I am. --ModderElGrande 21:47, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

- Well I thought you were for some reason but you are active enough.--Corevette789 22:49, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe it's because of this userbox on my userpage...

This user regularly watches the recent changes page, sometimes for hours each day, but is not a recent changes Patroller. - I've thought about becoming a patroller though although I did have a bit past on the wiki so I don't think many people will support it. I remember that time when Ninja Hinder went for patroller and everyone opposed the nomination. I guess it'll be the same case with me too. --ModderElGrande 07:56, 26 February 2010 (UTC)]]

A Little More Advice[edit]
First of all, I want to thank you for your enthusiasm and your obvious desire to help the wiki. I feel that I have to say, though, that perhaps you should exhibit more caution when giving warnings; that's not something you want to mess up, since if it's inappropriately given it may push away newer editors. My suggestion would be, as you learn the wiki and its ways, to instead bring it to a patroller or admin's attention when you think you see edits that need to be warned for; you could even post a quick question on the community portal... even if the responses aren't from patrollers or admins, perhaps another perspective or two will reduce the number of mistakes.
Also, once again, try to use the show preview button every time you edit. You can even set your preferences to force this when you're editing (another little thing that will help to greatly reduce the number of mistakes). --GKtalk2me 21:59, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
