Search Problems[edit]
One significant issue is that the mobile site is using a default wiki search engine, meaning that it doesn't have any of the UESP customizations introduced to handle our namespaces. For example, searching on "Block" (starting at Skyrim:Skyrim) it tells me that no such page exists and offers to create it in the main namespace. It then gives a list of pages with Block in the name, so readers can get where they want, but it's not too convenient. I have no idea whether we can just tell mobile to use UESP's standard search instead of Sphinx, or whether we'll have to make UespCustomCode do a facelift to Sphinx, too. --NepheleTalk 22:05, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Mobile App?[edit]
I'm looking into building an Android app for UESP. Our wiki is a lot more interesting overall then Wikia's Elderscrolls, but they have a mobile app, and it's way easier to use on phones and even tablets then m.uesp.net.
I don't want to spend a lot of time not knowing if it's welcome or no, so wanted to know your thoughts on the idea - do you like it, opposte it.., and why? --UWU (talk) 18:18, 8 October 2014 (GMT)
- I'd be for it, though I don't use the mobile site in general (my android tablet runs the full site just fine). I'd like to know, however, what your plans for it are. As a preliminary thing -- what kind of features were you thinking of? Since I'm not familiar with Elderscrolls Wiki's app (or Wikipedia's for that matter... I think they have one?), what exactly does an app for a wiki entail? --likelolwhat talk lulzy to me 20:00, 8 October 2014 (GMT)
- In best case scenario, the app will have all features of main wiki. Although I don't see how to make easy page editing on small screens. Wikipedia's app has editing as in web, but it's quite difficult with on-screen keyboard. Also, interaction with online maps (e.g. srmap.uesp.net) doesn't quite work on android devices.

- And, a question on copyright: very many "items" (books, maps, some images...) are copies from the game - is it ok for them to be in wiki or an app? I'm thinking of another app too - with map of Tamriel consisting of real 3D game world/cells (not simple images like current maps), but that seems like shameless copying:) UWU (talk) 22:24, 8 October 2014 (GMT)
- I'm not sure what you mean by the copyright? All icons are taken from the game data, as are book texts, stats, dialogue, etc. Are you asking if this is allowed or not? Jeancey (talk) 22:27, 8 October 2014 (GMT)
- Yes, I didn't know why it's allowed. Well, I checked "Copyright and Ownership" page here, and read a bit about Fair Use on Wikipedia, so it's more clear now. UWU (talk) 16:16, 9 October 2014 (GMT)
- Getting back to the original question, I seem to remember a conversation somewhere a long time ago about whether we should have a mobile app. As I remember it, the consensus was it would be welcome, but we didn't have anyone at the time with the know-how to create an app. So if you're able and willing to make a mobile app, I'm sure there wouldn't be much opposition to you making one. However, I think that it should be double-checked by other users first before being released to the public, just to make sure it's good enough. •WoahBro►talk 17:58, 9 October 2014 (GMT)
- I think Jak was going to work on it a while back, but he became too busy with school. Jeancey (talk) 19:42, 9 October 2014 (GMT)
- I realize that it's been several years since anyone last talked in this thread, but I thought I'd point out for the record that an app is in development, details can be seen here: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/UESPWiki:Mobile_App T J (talk) 21:22, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

Semi-useable Mobile Version and Erratic behaviour on iOS 9 / Safari[edit]
I have a few problems with the mobile version.
1) It seems to be a bit random if a link brings me to a mobile or a desktop version of a page. Some pages drop me into mobile 10 times in a row even on page reload and the 11th takes me to desktop. Once I even had discussion, etc. top tabs in desktop but the content itself consistently in mobile. This dropping into mobile seems to be more pronounced/often when opening in a new tab.
2) Opening the "View Mobile Version" from the left side menu in a new tab gives a 404-error.
3) Of the 3 icons (pen, image, star) all ask to login (in a different way though). On doing so only the star works for the watchlist; I assume the others should do an edit and an image upload. If there are some essential requirements (like some java or whatever version) a note would be helpful here (although this page is hard to find anyhow).
4) Navigation in mobile is quite a pain. Most missed feature is the hierarchy list menu at the top of most pages to undrill to the parent category esp. on searches and cross-links.
5) I didnt find any way to accesss the respective discussion pages when in mobile view. I dont have a clue how the mobile version works, but couldnt the last two things be included in the mobile menu (the three line button)? And maybe a quick revert to desktop version also (as apparently not every page has the switch menu at the bottom)? --HomoLudens (talk) 09:53, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for your feedback! Some great notes there and mobile is something we'll be working on soon. -- Daveh (talk) 16:05, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
Mobile Detection[edit]
Lately the website tends to think that my laptop is a mobile device. Sometimes I am taken back to the desktop view once I refresh the page. --91.139.209.194 08:24, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
- Same, really. Why hasn't this been addressed? 75.134.40.52 02:26, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

- So irritating. The mobile version is unbearably skint, and I'd rather be accessing the full site on every platform I'm on including phones. — Unsigned comment by Onetimeonetime (talk • contribs) at 03:38 on 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Mobile Site Scaling Issue[edit]
Besides the site randomly switching from desktop to mobile and back the scaling is off at least on my device. Pages are too wide and can't be zoomed in or out, cannot horizontal scroll either which is annoying as it makes the right most quarter or so unable to be viewed. Refresh Bug[edit]
Recent changes page doesn't update when refreshed, you have to change a filter setting and changing to an already used setting loads whatever version of the page you had been seeing when you selected that option previously. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 22:43, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
- This is a bug with caching and will be fixed in a future version. T J (talk) 15:16, 3 February 2019 (UTC)
Editing Issues[edit]
I'm having an issue where I can't edit creature pages in the app. I can't add information for the frostbane pets on mobile. The frostbane pets were available in the Mysterious Reward Boxes as rare drops, and I don't have a way to edit it in the app. Also I can edit some creature pages on the mobile version of the website, but I can't do that same thing on the same page in the app. Earlier, I tried editing On:Abomination in the app, and I couldn't do it there, but I was able to do it in chrome on my phone. I can't edit On:Pets on either medium. Is there a reason for these issues, or are these things unintentional? MolagBallet (talk) 19:03, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
