Rendered Text[edit]

I don't understand how the page's rendered text shows bullets for the five quests or so, but when I click the edit tab, the source does not appear to do anything to detail those. 99.20.245.250 21:12, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Blade Definition?[edit]

I got the Blade of Haafingar but didn't get a sword, I got an enchanted mace. Is the game buggy or is the information here incorrect? 118.208.142.220

Also received an enchanted mace. --Fett0001 03:05, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
The "Blade of ______" I think is just a random weapon with a random enchantment. I have one that's a war axe. 98.165.130.46 21:48, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
I changed the entry to read a random weapon rather than sword and included weapons that have been confirmed. I am guessing that all thane weapons are random and not restricted to any set weapon type (other than the exclusion of bows/daggers) since I've heard reports of pretty much all weapon types. However, I am only changing the entry for Thane of Haafingar. RookY2K 19:36, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
One other bug noticed. When you receive the objective to visit your new house that will remain stuck in your quest log if you enter the house by another door then the marked one. Exiting and entering again won't solve the issue, the quest entry will remain but no more quest destination marker. --Luke — Unsigned comment by 81.196.151.13 (talk) at 08:31 on 19 December 2011
In theory, this should only ever be a sword or a greatsword, however it's easy for there to have been a mistake in the hundreds (literally) of levelled lists this reward is dependent on. Can those of you who have received a mace please note exactly what kind of mace you received (i.e., Iron, Steel, Daedric) and the enchantment. That'll help track it down so we can add it as a bug report if it appears unintentional in the Construction Kit, or a non-bug if it looks like it was intentional. Thanks! bugfix for the guards not recognizing you bug[edit]

Has there been any bugfix for this? — Unsigned comment by 117.20.164.150 (talk) at 08:21 on 28 December 2011

Yes, the Unofficial Skyrim beta patch fixes this. On another note, are we going to be putting the 'this is fixed by the unofficial...' notice on bugs like with Oblivion, does anyone know? Riveon 10:00, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
Yes, we will be. I'm hoping Kivan or Arthmoor will stop by to do this, as they'll be more intimately familiar with what they've fixed and what bugs might sound different, but actually be the same issue. There's now a {{Bug}} template used on most pages to describe the bug; then to add a note about a fix, you just add USKP (for unofficial patches) or OSP (for official patches) as the second parameter, and then the version number as the third parameter. So, for example:
{{Bug|This doesn't work right.|USKP|1.0}}
Robin Hoodtalk 22:04, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

() Well I've added that to the listed bug. The spacing looks a bit messy but I'm not sure how to fix that. I should also note that I'm not sure whether the first bug is fixed or not, so I left it for now. - Riveon 06:58, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

The spacing is controlled by the template itself, so there's nothing you can do there. What do you find messy about it? Oh, and in case you're wondering, I just discovered that the Unofficial Skryim Patch refers to itself as the USKP instead of the USP, so I've updated both your addition and my example. Weapon ID[edit]

why is it so hard to figure out a weapon ID for this thing? — Unsigned comment by 76.89.96.119 (talk) at 11:38 on 25 January 2012

Because it is randomly generated. VycDarkshadow (talk) 04:24, 5 April 2013 (GMT)

stormcloacks[edit]

can you still become thane off solitude after you invade as the stormcloack because i cant seem to get any of the quests from the jarl or the steward — Unsigned comment by 2.28.83.123 (talk) at 13:16 on April 5, 2012

Yes, your actions in the Civil War have no effect on you becoming thane. You should be able to speak with Falk to get the first quest. If the conversation with Varnius Junius is going on, then you cannot interact with them; he should be in the Blue Palace the first time you enter, I believe. If you've already placed Torygg's warhorn, then you must wait for Falk to send you a letter. --Velyanthe►Talk►Email 22:00, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Bryling as Questgiver[edit]

Can Bryling actually give this quest? Generally, only jarls give thane quests, and Elisif does not get replaced as jarl, regardless of your choices in any quests. In normal gameplay (without using console), is there a way to actually receive this quest from Bryling? ABCface 04:54, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Man Who Cried Wolf[edit]

It would appear that the Man Who Cried Wolf quest being active has the same effect as Tending the Flames - I did not get the dialog with Elisif to start her quest until after this was completed. Anyone else see this? Threepwood87 (talk) 21:59, 19 February 2013 (GMT)

The Man Who Cried Wolf is a prerequisite quest for Elisif's Tribute, which in turn is a prerequisite for you to start the mission to become Thane of Haafingar, so you can't become Thane without doing it. Tending the Flames isn't a prerequisite to becoming Thane, so I don't really think it's the same thing.. --Lady Azura (talk) 01:24, 3 March 2013 (GMT)

Buying Proudspire Manor[edit]

for some reason, despite the fact that i've completed all of the quests for the solitude court, falk firebeard still doesn't have the dialogue option available to buy proudspire, and so is hindering my ability to be thane of haafingar — Unsigned comment by 50.167.199.95 (talk) at 15:24 on 8 May 2015 (GMT)

Most NPC's just sometimes don't have the dialogue option. At other times, they do. The best time to approach any NPC that's supposed to offer a house for sale is during the day. Your best bet is to keep checking back. — Unsigned comment by 66.69.36.26 (talk) at 23:21 on 3 June 2015 (GMT)

No option to become a thane[edit]

I have encountered a bug related to thaneship in Solitude. After I finished first Potema quest and the horn delivery, Elisif gave me permission to buy a house. So I did. But the jarl didn't give me another quest to assist 5 people. So, I finished the second Potema quest and bard's questline. Nothing. I helped 5 people and did the Shaegorath quest. Still nothing. I tried console commands but the porper dialogue isn't showing up. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? — Unsigned comment by MajinYoda (talkcontribs) on 1053 UTC 26 Mar 2017

Same problem. Sometimes she offers it, sometimes she doesn't. I got the feeling it's more likely to happen if you take on the first quest fairly early on, but I don't know.Wordmama (talk) 14:59, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
Hi all, here's a potential fix that worked for me on PC: Go to Elisif, open the console, select Elisif, and enter the command 'setrelationshiprank player 2' without the apostrophes. Then when you talk to her, you will have a new line of dialogue to become a thane. This fix works because I believe your relationship rank with Elisif must be 2 (friend) in order for the dialogue line to appear. Cheers. -Deltahost (talk) 00:08, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
She also didn't offer it to me, and all I did differently in this playthrough was grabbed the word-wall in Dead Men's Respite BEFORE trying to become thane (in essence, starting the Bard's College quest, you get the undroppable book and claw you can't get rid of until the quest is complete). There is something there that interferes when you have any part of the Bard's College quest started, but I've no clue what. Note that for me, Elisif is actually the most reliable "Done Been Thaned" quest-giver otherwise. But, went and grabbed that word-wall first and BAM - no thane for you, kid. 174.28.90.34 06:41, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
