Number of dreams that can be stored in the skull?[edit]
What is the maximum number of dreams that can be stored within the Skull?
Also, I've used it already to siphon dreams, but what are the rules? So far, those are the one I've determined from using it: if used it on a sleeping person, it will simply absorb five of his/her dreams, but only once, the second time, it will not have any effect. If used on someone awake, it will send a blast of 50 points of damage as long as the Skull has dreams, if not, it will be 20 points of damage. Anything to add, or anything wrong in what is stated above? — Unsigned comment by Gimee (talk • contribs) at 11:03 on 26 February 2012
- How did you know it was collecting "5 dreams"? Was that number displayed somewhere? I watched a friend try to collect dreams - but the staff appeared no different and the description did not change. I came to this page for help, but it lacks information (as the above user has pointed out). Since the table says it will Dreamsteal for 43200 seconds, is that how long the +30pts damage lasts? Nothing was listed in the active effects page. Is that time affected by how many dreams are stolen or does the timer just reset for each newly stolen dream? Also, can we get some information about these spell effects? Dreamsteal doesn't link anywhere to explain how it works (nor is it on this page). Walking Nightmare? Psychic Agony? These also are not described, nor linked to anywhere else. Since every use seems to do all 3 effects, stealing a dream will also anger everyone else nearby. Can't say we noticed the non-sleeping affected NPCs having any kind of agony though (no screaming, no confusion); they just attacked the player normally. --Amsuko 23:48, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

- Hi, perhaps someone reads this here and can put this informations on the main article of the staff (english is not my native language, so someone should check for the right spelling etc.):
- Dreamsteal: As described five dreams are stolen from the target (the number should be shown in a message; otherwise you can look it up in the CK at the scripts of the quest "DA16SkullHandler"). I think the 12 hours (43200 seconds) just are some kind of "cooling down period", in which this spell can't affect the same target a second time. After this 12 hours, you can steal new dreams of the same target (in case the target sleeps). You find a correspondent condition in the magic effect of the staff (Creation Kit).
- Psychic Agony: Seems to reduce the target health about 15 points - so this is the base damage of the staff. It's not bound to the number of stolen dreams.
- Waking Nightmare: Kind of an area damage (40 points in area of 5 feet) to all nearby targets, as long as there are stolen dreams in the staff. This is the bonus damage, which you get, if you steal dreams.
- I hope this helps.

- You only get the bonus effect or the base effect. You won't get both. Bluedanieru (talk) 10:03, 17 January 2013 (GMT)

- Sounds like a weird one off. —SkoomaManiac Talk ♫ Contribs 16:09, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- decided to see if it would happen again... it did lol riften guards like using my weapons i guess (71.178.178.53 16:18, 14 April 2012 (UTC))
- How did he get the Skull of Corruption to begin with? —SkoomaManiac Talk ♫ Contribs 16:20, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- Idk, i was caught and when they became hostile he had it in his left hand then after using it once switched to a shield, idk why or how he got it (71.178.178.53 16:25, 14 April 2012 (UTC))
- The most likely solution to me is that they took those items from the locked chest that your items are stored in. I can't think of any other explanation 205.188.116.65 21:43, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

- When using the Skull on any Sleeping Vampire Cattle in Castle Volkihar be careful. It seems to kill any awake Cattle nearby when the Skull is used on sleeping ones. Not sure if this is a normal bug or what but it happens every time to me. I should also point out I’m playing on the Nintendo Switch. Hairokiin (talk) 17:55, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Max number of dreams?[edit]
What is the maximum number of dreams that can be stored? Also it should be noted that children can targeted for dream stealing. — Unsigned comment by 24.57.73.23 (talk) at 07:07 on 11 January 2013
Number of charges?[edit]
It states that the staff still needs to get recharged by soul gems, but this article and Skyrim:Staves do not include any information about the charges the staff has, consumes and with which school the effect is associated. I would add the information if I could, but I can't check it on the PS3 version of the game.--88.78.50.50 13:50, 21 July 2013 (GMT)
- I've added the charges (3000/40=75), but I can't determine the school of magic, so it may not have one. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:56, 21 July 2013 (GMT)
Damage bugged?[edit]
My Skull of Corruption is currently on 369 dreams, however when it is used to attack, it's still doing 20 damage only, and the description does not change either (don't know if it's supposed to change). The damage test is done by using getAV health console commands, and targets include: whiterun guard, lydia, hostile giant. --Caiman 18:12, 23 April 2015 (EST)
Is the Description/Damage For This Staff Bugged?[edit]
The description for the staff says that it inflicts 20 damage, or 50 after harvesting dreams, however the damage components are 15 points of Psychic Agony, and 40 points of Waking Nightmare, and only one of these takes effect at a time. Does that means the description is wrong, and the damage is in fact 15 or 40, not 20 or 50? -- Haravikk (talk) 16:26, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
Psychic Agony 15 and Waking Nightmare 40 points?[edit]
In TES5edit the effects of the staff seem to be its base damage (Psychic Agony for 15 points) and its dream-empowered damage (Waking Nightmare for 40 points). Does this mean that the description is incorrect (20 damage normally, 50 when empowered), and it actually only does 15 or 40 points of damage respectively? — Unsigned comment by 77.96.70.207 (talk) at 19:17 on 21 April 2018
