Adding Darkfall Cave fishing spot[edit]

Hello - I just tried to edit the page to not only increase the fishing spot count from 69 to 70, but also to correspondingly add the missing "underground" fishing spot for Darkfall Cave. A user then immediately undid my changes; please revert as appropriate. (I also just noticed a reference to a "70th" fishing spot in a test cell should similarly be corrected to "71st"). Thanks! Are you by any chance using any mods such as Unofficial Patch? Zebendal (talk) 22:20, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
Oh, shoot... I am. If this fishing spot in Darkfall Cave was only added by the Unofficial Patch (which seems a strange thing for it to mess with!), I apologize, and of course in that case please re-undo my edits... However, I don't see any reference to this in the Unofficial Patch complete notes, and the fishing spot is also referenced on the Darkfall Cave page (which I just made minor edits to, but the reference was already there when I started.) Best thing to do is please provide the RefID of the fishing spot in Darkfall Cave using the Console in-game. Then we can check where it's come from. --Enodoc (talk) 22:35, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
I'm afraid I was assuming user Jeancey's earlier (21 November 2021) edit to the Darkfall Cave page to add the reference to the fishing spot was correct, and I don't have Fishing installed myself... sorry if this has made a problem, but maybe Jeancey could weigh in? If not, and if it seems nobody else who actually has Fishing installed can catch the fish in the pool in Darkfall Cave as Jeancey had described on the cave's location page, maybe just deleting that sentence from the location page and reverting my edits to the Fishing page would be best. Just to explain why the USSEP is messing with Creation Club stuff, there are four creations that are now being included automatically, and I believe they were made part of the base game (Fishing, Rare Curios, Saints & Seducers, and Survival Mode). So, any edits that the Unofficial Creation Club Patch used to make for those four creations have now been transferred to the USSEP, and I'm pretty sure there are some new ones in there as well.
Looking at the USSEP in xEdit, there have been changes made to that cell, but I couldn't spot exactly what. Since fishing also makes changes to that cell, it's reasonable to assume that that's what's being updated/fixed by the USSEP. I've gotta go have dinner, but if anyone else wants to look into it more, the ref ID is xx1b58eb. Robin Hood(talk) 23:09, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
Jeancy's edit to the Darkfall Cave page adds "If the Fishing creation is installed, this pool is the only overworld source of the rare Scorpion Fish, as well as one of the many locations to find a Tripod Spiderfish." The Fishing creation adds fish to the water, which you can pick up manually, but does not add a full-on fishing spot. Unless you found a fishing spot there in-game (which would be added by a mod), I think you may have simply misunderstood what Jeancy's edit was referring to. I also had a look at USSEP and saw that all of its changes to Darkfall Cave are unrelated to Fishing.Samantha Says (talk) 03:55, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
Samantha, this was in fact something I did find confusing about Jeancey's text, again since I don't use Fishing myself (I manually disabled Skyrim Steam auto-updates a couple years ago to avoid anything possibly messing with my ongoing hundreds-hours-long save file, from long experience modding TES games). The suggestion that the Darkfall Cave fishing activity was an "overworld" activity, when the Fishing page and basic logic suggested it should instead be classified as an "underground" activity with its own spot, seemed odd. Moreover, if Darkfall Cave doesn't have its own discrete "fishing spot" per se, does that make it completely unique in the entire game (including add-ons)? All the 69 listed areas, including the "overworld" lake/stream areas, have their own spots it seems, so perhaps that's why Darkfall Cave wasn't mentioned on this page? On the other hand, it could be there are many other bodies of water outside the 69 specific "spots" and in addition to Darkfall Cave that host fish, but Jeancey chose to mention Darkfall Cave specifically because it's a source of the rare Scorpion Fish? But in this case, there doesn't seem to be anything on either the main "Fishing" or the "Fishing (activity)" pages describing the possibility to fish outside the 69 "fishing spots" (by simply picking up fish in the water as you mention, I guess without a fishing rod?). Don't know if any of my ramble is making sense here. Mikeprichard (talk) 13:21, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
