Casimir[edit]

The devotees in the nightcrawler temple call erandur "Casimir", should we set up a redirect? (Eddie The Head 14:19, 23 November 2011 (UTC))

Erandur missing bug[edit]

Erandur went into the temple ahead of me, I immediately entered after him. He is nowhere to be found now. I see the location arrow pointing directly into a wall to the right. I tried Clarvoiance spell and it say no clear path. I am unable to complete the quest now since he has disappeared. I have restarted the 360 several times since and gone back to the temple and he is still missing. What do I need to do?

This happened to me as well on PC, the only solution seems to be using the console to move Erandur back to you. If you are on 360/PS3 I think you are stuck. (the commands being prid 2427D to target him, then moveto player) 60.234.136.37 07:06, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
I just added this bug the the article. It is caused by letting him enter the temple before you, if you make sure to be the first one to enter the temple, everything should be ok. --Aezay 22:44, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
I've moved this bug report to the quest page, as that page has a confirmed bug when you enter before him. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Refusing to wear new robe[edit]

This NPC seemed to refuse wearing any decent mage robe given to it (such as Adept Robe of Destruction). Erandur preferred running around naked (happened more than once on my gameplay occasion), and later reverted to its original monk robe. XtremeRampage 01:04, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

At last, Erandur used the given mage robe. It appeared that Erandur run naked when there's a gauntlet and boots on its inventory, at least that's what I observed from my gameplay session. Once the gauntlet and boots are taken from the inventory, Erandur wore the mage robe although still occasionally reverted to its original monk robe. XtremeRampage 09:49, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
He seemed happy enough to wear the armor I gave him. One of my favorite followers to date. Oshaugm 02:09, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Erandur doesn't refuse to wear armor, true. But this NPC seems to have "certain distaste" for mage robe. XtremeRampage 00:39, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

I have given him a full set of armor and a dwarven battleaxe, and he seems quite happy. Won't use most of the other weapons I tried on him, though. Feb. 15, 2020. Kitten Khajiit

Follower Stats[edit]

"Erandur appears to be a mixture of mage and warrior. He comes equipped with his standard priest garb but will readily trade it for heavy armor if you give it to him. He favors maces, both two-handed and one-handed." I don't think this should really be here. From what I've seen, followers tend to use the highest damage weapons and the highest protection armour, with no preferences. Since maces tend to have the highest damage of the one-handed weapons, it would make sense that he would use maces instead of any other one-handed weapons. I'll remove the note for now, but feel free to put it back if I'm way out of left-field.184.146.168.50 19:10, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

That isn't why he prefers maces. The game even gives him a leveled mace by default, probably because paladins and holy warriors tend to use maces lore wise. It would make sense for a monk to wield a mace if he wields a weapon at all. — Unsigned comment by 74.233.23.7 (talk) at 02:59 on 6 July 2012

Erandur's accent[edit]

The accent into which Erandur bizarrely slips occassionally is not Cockney... it shares some characteristics, but is mockney at best. Sounds a little like a Liverpool accent from around the 1950s. --Reka 14:57, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Erandur won't go up the steps to open the library door[edit]

For some reason, regardless of what I do, he is stuck on the steps..keeps saying he needs to destroy the skull as quickly as possible but won't go74.69.169.66 16:55, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

Vaermina's Torpor[edit]

He originally claims in coversation the torpor is in a tiny bottle, then when you leave, he claims the the torpor is actually in a large bottle. Then once you find it, he says it's a tiny bottle again. The potion is actually in a large bottle. — Unsigned comment by 86.22.22.206 (talk) on 9 April 2012

Article too Lengthy?[edit]

Does any of this information really help anything about Erandur's profile (his life story, background and affiliation with Vaermina)? I know its all quotes that Erandur mentions, but it seems like someone tried to literally type his entire script, from the quest, on this article and not any other little detail that he briefly mentions when he is a companion (such as the fact that he was a student at the Bard's college or he grew up in the pale); so far, this if the only Skyrim character with a article this huge.— Unsigned comment by 130.157.33.52 (talk) on 17 April 2012

I tried to add that info as well because some of it is interesting but I couldn't think how to wright it. Some things seemed to contradict other things and I was unsure which order it all happened. He says that he became an acolyte of Vaermina when he was young and that they weren't permitted to socialize... wouldn't college count as socializing? Anyone can add to articles on this site tho, so you can add it in yourself. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 16:58, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
reading the whole thing makes it harder to kill him, but a staff that runs on dreams and the fact that he is a talos-hating elf makes it much easier. (for evidence of his talos hatred notice that the book atop the podium as soon as you enter the tower, the one he set up as part of his shrine to Mara, is "The Talos Mistake") SneakyPenguin77 (also my Gamertag) 03:52, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
SneakyPenguin: Coincidence?
130.*: We on the site haven't yet figured out the best way to present dialogue. If you actually read it, it makes sense and flows well, but if you step back it just looks like a wall of half-italicized text. • JATalk 04:15, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
In fact, we figured it out years ago – and we used this exact technique for the OBNPCRP and there’s no real need to change anything, especially because SR NPCs doesn’t really surpass the OB ones when it comes to amounts of dialogue (just take a look at Nanette Don, Relmyna Verenim or Martin). These pages are designed to give the useful information on the first ‘page’ – then the really hardcore gamers can scroll down and see what they may have missed during gameplay. As for the follower dialogue, Kiz recently created a nifty table for that (here), so maybe that’s the way to go? --Krusty 07:27, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
I think that some of the dialogue should perhaps be moved to quest page because it consists mostly of dialogue related to the quest. — Unsigned comment by 82.73.72.148 (talk) at 19:30 on 1 August 2012
This is the correct place for the dialogue. We don’t really add dialogue to quest pages, most people reading them just want to know how to do the quests. If it was filled with dialogue it would be harder to quickly identify what you need to do for the quest. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 19:37, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

() I used to like Erandur before I stumbled onto his page here from a search engine. It needs some major formatting improvements at the very least. Perhaps we could break down the information into easily parsed sections? This would take some of our best editors (Frank, you out there?). I can't believe I'm seeing such a word-wall... Wait... Are we trying to get people to kill Erandur? By the gods! Pure. Genius. Skysword (talk) 13:55, 29 September 2012 (GMT)

Accent Turns Cockney?[edit]

"During the Waking Nightmare quest, Erandur's voice will change drastically during his explanation of his prior involvement with the Cult of Vaermina. It will take on a heavy, drawling 'Cockney' accent, before returning to normal once the dialogue concludes."

Is this actually a bug or is this some strange critique of the voice actor? --78.148.124.98 23:51, 14 September 2012 (GMT)

Erandur has a bow?[edit]

Encountered a dragon outside Whiterun, and Erandur immediately equipped and used a hunters bow. It does not, however, appear in his inventory. Is this a hidden item or just a bug? — Unsigned comment by 75.67.194.142 (talk) at 21:12 on 17 September 2012 (UTC)

When you say that it doesn't appear, do you mean that it wasn't in his inventory before, or simply does not appear there? If it's the first one, then odds are he picked it up off of a dead body or out of a chest (since you're in Whiterun with him, I think it's safe to assume that he's been traveling with you for a while). It's possible that he picked this up a while ago, but only recently found some arrows, which is why he hasn't used it up until this point. If it's the second one, then it's just standard behavior - you can't directly take any equipped items off of any NPC, without the Pickpocket perk Misdirection. • JAT 22:12, 17 September 2012 (GMT)
It doesn't appear in his inventory at all. If he had picked it up(which I'm fairly certain he didn't), I assume it would've been available to me in his inventory, seeing as he was a follower at the time.— Unsigned comment by 75.67.194.142 (talk) at 11:49 on 22 September 2012 (UTC)
I believe that almost every npc in-game has a hidden hunting bow. Whenever the see arrows, whenever they are hit by one, and whenever they are given arrows, they will pull out this bow.--Br3admax (talk) 11:58, 22 September 2012 (GMT)
Even if they have a better bow in their inventory, occasionally they will still switch to their hunter's bow 74.15.8.147 03:03, 24 September 2012 (GMT)

"fort in Cyrodiil"[edit]

In Erandur's follower dialogue (Military Fort), can he be referring to Arkved's Tower that appears in Oblivion, in Vaermina's Daedric quest? — Unsigned comment by 124.168.17.86 (talk) at 12:25 on 5 October 2012‎

I read through the Arkved's Tower article, and couldn't find any mention of a shrine to Vaermina located there. The lack of a shrine, plus the implication that the Tower is Arkved's home rather than a place dedicated to the worship of Vaermina makes it unlikely that this is the place that Erandur is referring to. --Xyzzy Talk 12:50, 5 October 2012 (GMT)

Spells known?[edit]

What spells does/can Erandur know? This information is on the page for other spellcasting followers, but not Erandur yet apparently.--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 05:39, 10 February 2013 (GMT)

Yes☑ Done. "He relies on three spells, specifically lesser ward, firebolt and flames though he also uses his mace." At the end of the second paragraph. Jeancey (talk) 05:50, 10 February 2013 (GMT)
Thank you, I completely missed that. Good to know, since that combined with his limited magicka makes him rather so-so for a follower that can hit level 50.--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 06:10, 10 February 2013 (GMT)
Question: is this confirmed? In my experience he prefers apprentice and adept electricity spells, during the Vaermina quest as well as later. With his Ward he is a rather good "tank" who takes the beating and yet does not run into the player's way. Tested in three playthroughts at level 4, 19, and around 30. Also, he starts to use adept destruction spells at higher levels, and even expert spells once in a while (at least I experienced him using thunderbolt). He does rely highly on wards and is good at healing himself; sort of a tank who takes the beating from a distance, without being in the way of player arrows or spells. — Unsigned comment by 78.43.155.64 (talk) at 20:21 on 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Magicka[edit]

I think that would be nice add some notes about his magicka, since he only has 50 base magicka and is the only caster follower that dont get any kind of bonus on it when leveling. And yet he has almost more stamina then 3 other followers combined. He commonly uses 1h maces (only 15 one-handed). That should be considered when choosen him over the staff. — Unsigned comment by 187.127.27.139 (talk) at 12:46 on 21 February 2013

Erandur's Accent, Cont.[edit]

Erandur's accent doesn't change at all. If anything, the dialogue he recites afterward, but before ascending the stairs to the door he unlocks with his key, is more "proper" in comparison. This "cockney", or "mockney", whichever it is, is clearly the accent the voice actor was instructed to speak his lines with. 97.125.249.178 04:14, 29 July 2013 (GMT)

Another Erandur bug[edit]

I don't have any mods installed as I'm playing the Skyrim Special Edition on Steam and don't want my achievements disabled. So this has to be a glitch in the base game: I just started the Vaermina quest. I went with Erandur to just outside the Nightcrawler Temple, and then the quest changes to 'speak to Erandur,' and then ... nothing. When I click 'E' to talk to him, he doesn't respond and I don't get any dialogue options. (Going into the Temple without speaking to him causes the game to just stop responding.) I will try it on another character and see if I get the same bug. Emma of Falkreath (talk) 01:48, 5 January 2018 (UTC) -- Emma

Erandur standing there while his 2 friends attacks me with sparks[edit]

Erandur stands next to me while 2 his friends spam me with sparks he doesn't help me at all like he wanted me to clean his mess for him. Anyway never had encounter this in my previous playthrough's

But I decided to kill him to keep the skull of corruption in retaliation for not helping me — Unsigned comment by PrinceRetro (talkcontribs) at 11:39 on 18 June 2018
