The Ancient Sword of Legend is a broken sword found in Dead Crone Rock that can be used as a gift to convince Jarl Igmund of Markarth to allow the East Empire Company to claim dungeons cleared by the player in the Reach.
Reading Jarl Igmund's Note will add finding this item as an optional quest objective.
