Hakan, on the left, dueling Cyrus

Hakan was the late husband of Iszara and a prominent member of the Forebears. He was killed by Cyrus during a drunken duel, which caused Cyrus to flee Hammerfell and become a mercenary. Most of Hakan's history is described in The Origin of Cyrus!. He is mentioned in Cyrus' conversations with Tobias, Iszara, and Clavicus Vile.

Hakan, the lead actor in a play by Cyrus' father, captured Iszara's heart, leading to their significant wedding—a union between a Forebear and Crown that defused looming civil war tensions. Iszara lived with Hakan in his estate in Sentinel's merchant quarter. During Cyrus' adolescence, Hakan took him under his wing and taught him swordplay skills and Forebear ideology. He also helped prepare the hidden Forebear militias in the city.

As civil war became imminent once more, Cyrus' father wrote another play about the shared ancestry of Forebears and Crowns, triggering a truce that disbanded the Forebear militias from Sentinel. Hakan did not go with them, and stayed behind with Iszara, who he began to think of as "the devil's own daughter". During a celebration of the successful play, Hakan was strangely absent. Later, when Cyrus had drunk himself to high spirits, Hakan made his fiery appearance. He threw insults at Cyrus' father, calling him a "storyteller", "fabricator", and "deceiver" in Yoku, and finally, "liar". Iszara tried to settle him down but in anger he slapped her. Cyrus stepped in and began their duel to the death. With Hakan dead on the floor and Iszara in tears, Cyrus ran through the night to join up with Tobias' crew of mercenaries.

In game, Hakan is only seen through the mysticism pool in the Mage's Guild, as Cyrus lands the killing blow.
