Quest-Related Events[edit]
Before starting the quest, he'll say:
- "Hey, you're new here, right? I'd ask your name, but I can't hear a thing. I'm Duldrar. Welcome to Slag Town!"
- "Hey there! Razgurug's looking for someone to do some mining. You look tough—you should talk to him."
During the quest:
- "So you're the one swinging a pick for me, right? Good. We need more flash stone—a lot more. And did Razgurug tell you about the pellets?
You'll have to speak up, mate! My ears are mostly decorative." - Yes, I'm going to find your flash stone and pellets. But what do you use them for?
- "Not for blowing things up, if that's what you're worried about! I promise you, my days of blowing things up are over.
We use the pellets to grind flash stone into a flammable-powder that lets us cut pipes. Weld them too. Useful stuff." - How do you keep the stone from blowing up Slag Town?
- "Oh, I've had a lot of practice handling explosives.
Fact is, this whole city is a keg of fire-salts. Most of the fluids you see are at least semi-flammable. Many of the gases are highly volatile too. Damn near a miracle the place is still standing."
- "Oh, I've had a lot of practice handling explosives.
- Is cutting the pipes a good idea?
- "Gutting the …? Oh, cutting. Right.
Well, we have to. We don't have any discharge valves down there. If we need water, or wind-up, we have to cut into the lines. Then, eventually, we have to seal them back up. Facts of life in Slag Town."
- "Gutting the …? Oh, cutting. Right.
- Was handling explosives what ruined your ears?
- "What? Oh, the ears? Yeah … yeah, I spent about a year studying the explosive properties of certain ores. In an enclosed space. For twelve hours a day. I wouldn't recommend it.
I gathered up all my coin and bought a tiny clockwork amplivox to help." - And?
- "I-I lost it, of course. Fell right out of my ear while I was leaning over a balcony. The Apostles don't have much patience for a deaf artificer's aid. Got pushed out of the basilica and wound up here.
So, yeah. Earplugs. Use them."

After the quest, he'll say:
- "Great work with that flash stone! Just milling up a new batch of powder now. Got plenty of pipes to cut by week's end. Thanks again."
