Quest-Related Events[edit]
When you enter the puzzle room of Taarengrav, you will find an injured Danera slouching against a pillar among slain Worm cultists. He will recommend reading the notes to figure out how to get past the doors to the vault to Valdur's body:
- "What? Must be a delusion. Nobody down here. I'm not dead yet, Shor!"
- Kireth sent me. Are you all right?
- "I've got a gut wound, and I'm losing blood. Aside from that, I'm doing just fine."
- What is this place? Why do the doors look like that?
- "It's some kind of puzzle. Kireth and I were close to cracking it when the Worm Cult attacked. I think they're after the body of the Companion buried in the vault!"
- I recovered these notes from the Worm Cult.
- "Yes. Good. Right before the attack, Kireth translated the runes, but we couldn't make sense of them. It's like ancient poetry.
I only know it has something to do with opening the doors. I pray you can decipher it."
Speaking to him again before reading the notes:
- "Read the notes. You'll understand them better than I will. Plus, I'm dying."
After reading the notes, he will try to escape the tomb despite his wounds:
- "So. What did the notes say? No rush. Take your time."
- I think they're telling me which doors to go through.
- "Good. That's good. Now that you've cleared a path, I'll try to get out.
Shor! Not dead yet." - Do you know what they're trying to do here?
- "Heard them talking. They thought I was dying. I did too.
Spirit of one of Five Hundred Companions is here. They want to soulbind it to Sinmur, increase his strength."
After the quest, you'll find him back at the camp having his wounds tended to by Narir:
- "I'm going to make it. I am! I'll live to see Riften and hoist a pint. Thank you, my friend."
