Bug[edit]

A very simple problem I encounter: I finish all fighter quests that I had. Then Azzan told me to see Buzz in Cheydindal for another quest. When I go to Cheydindal to speak with buzz, he just told me to see the lord Rugdumph but he didn't locate any point on my map and there isnt any quest added in my book !!!

If I go in the north by myself to see this lord, he tells me nothing about his daughter, nor his wife.

So I amm STUUUCKKKKK as usual in this full bugged game !!!

Please help. — Unsigned comment by Dalarian (talkcontribs) at 18:22 on 6 August 2006 (GMT)

Ok, first off, you're not likely to get much in the way of help if you insult the game, secondly, try re-loading a previous save and see if the same thing happens, if not then if you are playing on the pc you may be able to fix this by advancing the quest manually with the console, see th main quest page for the details. Ogres[edit]

Moved from main article:

It is possible if you let an ogre get far enough away to the north, it will flee into Kingscrest Cave. If this happens, killing the ogre inside the cave will not complete the quest. You will have to load a previous save. (Alternatively, it may be possible to lure the ogre back outside and still have it count for the quest.)

The ogres for this quest are a special variety of ogre. Upon the death of one of these ogres, a quest counter is updated, no matter where the ogre is located and no matter how the ogre dies. Going through a door will not change the ogre's internal ID and characteristics. It seems much more likely that when you went into the cave, you happened to randomly encounter a standard ogre, instead of tracking down the correct ogre. If you give the ogres enough time to wander across the countryside, tracking down the correct ogres may be difficult. But they will still be there somewhere, and difficulty finding the correct ogres is not a bug. --NepheleTalk 00:09, 23 October 2007 (EDT)

Well, I don't know what to tell you Nephele but it is happening to me too (PS3). I have been walking around for 3 hours with a pair of Inquisitor's Gauntlets (Detect Life 105ft) and there is noone in any of the four zones except me and fugbut (or whatever her name is). There were three Ogres in the first zone which I killed but something may have gone a bit wonky since I didn't speak to fugbut when I walked in (hoping this would keep her from running into battle). 98.172.21.130 05:16, 9 February 2008 (EST)

Wandered[edit]

lady rogbut wandered into kingscrest cavern and I killed two of the ogres but there is one more, I cleared the entire cave and searched all over the area. does anyone know some common locations that the ogre's wander to? BTW I'm on the xbox version. — Unsigned comment by Diatron5 (talkcontribs) at 16:11 on 6 February 2008‎ (GMT)

Not really. Get yourself a good Detect Life enchantment and keep your eyes peeled. You'll find it eventually. –RpehTCE 14:33, 6 February 2008 (EST)
As with the User above, Lady Rogbut wandered into the cave. I found and killed the three ogres outside, and when I followed the quest marker into the cave, she's not there. The quest marker is pointing to and empty spot right inside the cave. As I was searching for the ogres, all three attacked me at the same time and during the fight I got a note that Lady Rogbut was unconscious, but I never saw or talked to her. I'm level 30 so it may be that the creatures in the cave were strong enough to kill her. Is she marked as an essential NPC or not? Any suggestions as to what to do? I already used Life Detect and searched the area to see if she may have gotten stuck somewhere, but found nothing. Note: After searching the whole area several times over with Life Detect 100 feet, I gave up and went to the Lord orc.... Apparently I succeeded in bringing the daughter back without ever seeing her, let alone talking to her.... A glitch that might need to be looked into... Verification[edit]

In the notes section, in the last note there is a notice that the note needs "verification". How can I "verify" this? I saw this happening and solved as it is written in this note... Is this enough for verification, can I delete the "verification notice"?

I'm new to this place, I wouldn't want to ruin the standards of this great site, that's why I'm asking... — Unsigned comment by Schlingel (talkcontribs) at 12:32 on 19 February 2008‎ (GMT)

It's not just about solving the problem - we would like more information about exactly what causes the glitch. NPCs don't usually start fleeing unless they've been attacked or otherwise threatened so it'd be good to know what did that to her ladyship in this case. –RpehTCE 07:43, 19 February 2008 (EST)
I thought she was fleeing from the ogres... Ok then.--Schlingel 08:01, 19 February 2008 (EST)
She may well be fleeing from the ogres, but the question is: Why? She will normally stand there until come and rescue her. Why should some people's games be different? That's what we need to discover. –RpehTCE 08:08, 19 February 2008 (EST)
I just finished this quest and had her flee for me. She initially stood and fought, but after about 5 seconds she started running with an ogre chasing after her. I chased after the ogre and killed it, at which point she stopped running. After killing the final ogre I went to talk to her and noticed that she was down to only a sliver of health. It's possible she runs in order to save her life. Can anyone else confirm or refute this? Miakiko 22:28, 15 June 2008 (EDT)

() If anyone is having trouble with the ogres running away, it happened to me, I saw the one ogre take off in a different dirrection, took me about two hours to find it, turns out it ran in the hut right out in front of the estate, I don't know if this is a constant or what the likelihood is this happening, but it's certainly a place to check if you too are having trouble with the ogres running away — Unsigned comment by 68.32.137.65 (talk) at 21:08 on 18 July 2008 (GMT)

Torbern[edit]

Long story short: I nuked the Ogres from a distance with a high-powered electric spell. Lady Rogbut got caught in the blast but was quest-essential, therefore escaped to nearby cavern to hide. For some unknown reason, Torbern (Acrobatics master trainer) came running down from his camp up the mountain, ran into the cave and started punching Rogbut. Since I don't have any calm spells or such, there isn't much I can do to stop the fight... and Torbern will inevitably die when I stop healing him because Rogbut is quest-essential. -_-; I suppose I can just let him die because my Acrobatics is maxed anyway... but I don't really LIKE to. Incidentally, I believe one of the Ogres survived the nuking... I'm just hoping that killing that one will stop the fight. Not sure yet... ... Nope. Didn't do much. Lady Rogbut went outside the cavern, Torbern followed, and now he decided to run away so Lady Rogbut is chasing Torbern all over the mountainside rather than following me back. ¬_¬ ~ SotiCoto 87.194.75.37 14:02, 20 October 2008 (EDT)

Can you talk to either NPC? Talking to the Lady Rogbut might get her to follow you. If not, then you're probably right that Torbern will be dead. I'd imagine he got involved due to an AI glitch - saw LR being the aggressor and stepped in to defend the target. This kind of thing could make a book about Radiant AI. –RpehTCE 15:26, 20 October 2008 (EDT)

Interesting bug on XBox360[edit]

The lady is lying on the ground, and if I want to speak to here I can select her, but then the camera turns me in another direction to an empty spot and we have the dialogue. I can select and converse with either the body on the ground, or this empty spot. Life detect shows nothing there except the body, and the body won't get up even though she tells me we need to get going after I have killed the ogres. Her lovely invisible self followed me back to the house and I completed the quest. The body was still lying there, and when I exited and re-entered the house, she had appeared as normal back inside the house. — Unsigned comment by 24.91.73.92 (talk) at 16:18 on 7 April 2009‎ (GMT)

More Ranged Seeking[edit]

Hello, as a warrior with low magic and a low-to-decent detect life spell at best, I thought I would post one thing that helped me find the ogres (the Lady had hid in the cave for me, the ogres wandered away)
I ran around and used the "rest" button (Fast travel may work too, but rest is faster,) and if it gave me the option to rest, I canceled and kept running around until there were the "cannot rest while enemies are nearby" note, and just used that to seek the ogres.. Downsides are it's not ogre specific, and if another monster wanders in range, you may end up looking for it too, but it worked for me, and I hope it may help anyone else who has this problem of wandering ogres. — Unsigned comment by 75.167.195.147 (talk) at 22:55 on 3 November 2009‎ (GMT)

Moved notes[edit]

  • In Rugdumph's manor, there is a nirnroot in one of the bedrooms.

I have been moving notes all over the site. Feel free to re-add this if you have a just cause to. --AKB Talk 16:19, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Placeatme note[edit]

Should it be noted in the notes section of this article of the possibility of save game bloating and corruption due to the use of the placeatme command? The main reason I feel this should be mentioned is due to the suggestion in the notes to use said command and the fact that the consequences aren't stated on this page. This addition, or the removal of the suggestion to use the placeatme command would benefit the article in my opinion due to helping the player prevent crashes and corruption on the PC version. Really Necessary?[edit]

- Although these ogres are seemingly indistinguishable from standard ogres, they are different and you must kill these three specific ogres in order to complete the quest. -

I can see why someone thought it might need to be included, but its not. It implies that someone doing this quest assumes they can go kill any three ogres anywhere and the quest will end. The problem with the ogres running away or losing them is already established in this discussion page and anyone reading through the walkthrough before looking at the discussions (Probably everyone...) wont understand why this is there; In the phrasing and placing the thought that came to my mind is (of course you have to kill them! they're the ones attacking her....) I had to rephrase that to take out the 'Obscenities'. Anyway this sentence completely ruined my trust of intelligence residing in humanity until I came to the discussions, where the trust issue narrowed down to whoever edited that and decided it was okay and made that it made sense.
