Disposition[edit]

Comment moved from main article--verification would be appreciated. --Eshe 16:51, 24 September 2007 (EDT)

Also note, after the spell wears off, the targets disposition towards you will drop significantly, with a few exceptions. — Unsigned comment by 67.163.143.18 (talk)

I can confirm this through playtesting, but someone else will have to dig into the code for the mechanics (how much the Dispo value is lowered, etc). I have noticed that NPCs do become angry at your after the effect wears off. Pretty handy, in a way, if you want to train your Speechcraft against someone who already loves you. I had the singularly unpleasant experience of lowering an Arcane University apprentice's disposition to the point that she attacked my character on sight. Since it's impossible to have a normal conversation with any AU student or scholar, I could not rebuild that Disposition again. Every time this Apprentice respawned, she attacked (until I raised my character's Personality, now that Apprentic merely glowers). All from using Command Humanoid on her one too many times.Dark Spark 20:28, 18 December 2007 (EST)
It usually brings the dispo to 0 after the effect wears off. The only times i've found it doesn't is if the person is supposed to like you. So some quest NPCs and a few other random NPCs won't have their dispo drop as much but everyone else drops to 0. Lord Eydvar 07:45, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Reverse Command Spell?[edit]

If a 100% spell reflect spell is cast onto an NPC by the player, and then the player casts Command Humanoid onto that NPC, does this result in the NPC then controlling the player? --Merco 10:38, 27 March 2008 (EDT)

Nope. In a recent jaunt through the Planes of Oblivion while carrying a Command Humanoid Bow, I shot a Dremora who had Reflect Spell active. A green Illusion haze floated off my character, but she was none the worse from the spell bouncing back. —Dark Spark 02:21, 28 March 2008 (EDT)
how did you get a command humanoid bow? — Unsigned comment by 142.68.118.47 (talk) at 20:59 on 11 March 2010
A bit long time to reply but... Command spells can be found on Generic Magic Weapons. I can't remember if you can enchant weapons with them however. Lord Eydvar 07:41, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

What constitutes 'humanoid'?[edit]

Could someone please clarify this? Is a humanoid any being with head, two arms and two legs? Any being which can potentially have dialogue? Are humanoids restricted to an arbitrary group of races? I raise this issue because there seems to be some overlap between the spell effects Command Humanoid and Command Creature. 115.64.164.186 20:40, 18 April 2009 (EDT) Ritchie

In this game, it's anyone that you could have a conversation with. That includes NPCs (characters belonging to the races that a player could join the game as) as well as Dremora, Golden Saints and Dark Seducers. Note that you cannot talk to Xivilai, and hence they are considered a monster/creature rather than a humanoid enemy (you can Soultrap them in a white Grand Soul Gem, for example). —Dark Spark 03:46, 19 April 2009 (EDT)

Spell making[edit]

If I made a spell with say burden x points for 30 sec and command humanoid level 25 30 secs would if i used it on an NPC make it so that no crime was commited. Ect i used it on a citizen and recieved no bounty. Or would i Have to use the command humanoid spell first? — Unsigned comment by Dadrak (talkcontribs) at 19:28 on 21 April 2009

Command humanoid armor?[edit]

Would it be possible to enchant a weightless piece of armor with command humanoid, reverse pickpocket it on to someone, and gain them as a personal ally? — Unsigned comment by 68.43.180.154 (talk) at 21:49 on 1 May 2009

No, since it is not listedunder the enchanting effects. It is possible, however, with the construction set and/or mods — Unsigned comment by 70.171.130.71 (talk) at 18:11 on 1 November 2009

Permanent effects[edit]

I keep seeing things about using a "permanent Command spell", but I've yet to find any sort of instructions for making one. How do you do it? Felindre 02:47, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Find out where to buy it here then see this page. –rpehTCE 06:02, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't see anything about a permanent Command spell on the Spell Making page; not on the Useful Spells page either. Felindre 16:22, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
A little late but anyway, there's no way to get a permanent Command spell, but you can stack different named spells with Command effects, that's what the second link was for, I guess.--S'drassa 20:29, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Enchanting?[edit]

Can you enchant something with Command Humanoid? I was thinking about enchanting something and giving it to an Essential NPC... 68.113.150.31 03:29, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

No, but you can get staves with it. –Elliot talk 04:07, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Guards[edit]

I've noticed that certain spell effects do not work guards. Does this one? — Unsigned comment by 75.34.16.62 (talk) at 18:41 on 14 November 2009

Only the most powerful spells can work on the guards but if you have a spell effectiveness less than 100% then the strenght of the spell will decrease and thus it won't work. To command guards you need to have a level 25 command humanoid spell and also a spell effectiveness of 100 or the level at wich the spell works will decrease.--S'drassa 18:50, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

New Command Spell.[edit]

Would it be possible to duplicate the script for this spell, and then create a new command spell with the ability to "cast on self". This way one should be able to enchant armour and create a minion with perma command? — Unsigned comment by 85.81.100.87 (talk) at 19:47 on 18 August 2011

Consolidation of tips (Command Humanoid/Creature)[edit]

(moved from User talk:Rpeh) Why you keep undoing my work?
Slider2k 21:49, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

You're trying to over-egg the pudding. The point about the tip is that you can use a Command spell to sneak attack an enemy, and that's all that needs to be said. Going into huge detail about single opponents and groups is actually less useful because it makes things more cluttered and it becomes less easy to get the salient details at a glance.
If you want to argue the point, you're welcome to do so on the article's talk page in order to see what others think. rpeh •TCE 08:21, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
If you compare these two pages: Command Humanoid and Command Creature you will see that I merely tried to consolidate tips sections (because the application is exactly the same), while doing some clarification (based on play-testing) of mechanics not obvious from general desctiption. For example there are two application of stealthy Command on a single enemy:
  • Short duration, to make target forget about you in case it becomes alerted
  • Long duration, to abuse repeated stealth attacks on a commanded target
In case of a group of hostiles, merely tagging a target for one second with Command will turn surrounding hostiles on the target permanently, and no - no damage needs to be done to turn permanent hostility - just that surrounding hostiles notice that the target has been commanded.
You complain about detail, but it is necessary to describe non so obvious mechanics of the effect.
Slider2k 09:18, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Please enlighten me oh unquestionable one, why is it OK to have disjointed tips on two pages about the same effect, but it is NO-NO to consolidate and clarify those?
Slider2k 10:48, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
reph is questionable, you just have to ask it in a non disrespectful way Honda1996 3:43, September 3rd 2011
Not to start a war, but Slider, you can make your point without attacking rpeh because he disagrees with you. And Honda, while you're obviously trying to help, please try not to fan the flame. Everybody take a deep breath. This isn't the time or the place for bickering, so let's all try and be civil. Kitkat1749 TalkContribE-mail 19:58, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
ok I'm calm now, I just needed to say that and I'm sorry for fanning the flame Honda1996 3:43, September 3rd 2011
It's ok. Kitkat1749 TalkContribE-mail 20:24, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Can someone confirm if NPC vampires are affected by sunlight?[edit]

I did the Azura quest on multiple play though on max difficulty and I do it everytime by luring them outside so I can run around in circles abusing the terrain elevation and letting martin or maglir kill them. This takes about 5mins per pair of vampires. As a sunlight effect would not be affected by difficulty I do not believe NPCs are affected at all. — Unsigned comment by Albe (talkcontribs) at 13:01 on 15 July 2013

This is the wrong page to be asking a question about vampires but vampires are affected to an extend by sunlight, read the article on vampires to see the details.--82.46.168.98 17:14, 13 November 2013 (GMT)

NPC VS NPC[edit]

If a follower for instance was to use command humanoid (or command creature) against another NPC (or creature) would that NPC/creature belong to them?--82.46.168.98 23:23, 1 November 2013 (GMT)

Can "commanded npcs" fast travelw with you?[edit]

i can't seem to get npcs under the command spell to fast travel with me; is it a duration thing or something else?
