Fingerbowl Cave is a large cave north of the Imperial City containing necromancers and undead. It contains four zones: Fingerbowl Cave, Fingerbowl Cave - Servant Crypt, Fingerbowl Cave - Noble Crypt, and Fingerbowl Cave - Lord Crypt.
Notes[edit]
- This cave contains 15 Cairn Bolete plants and 6 Wisp Stalk plants.
Bugs[edit]
- A large cave complex south of the main section of Fingerbowl Cave - Servant Crypt cannot be accessed without console commands. It is populated by slaughterfish, suggesting the section was intended to be underwater, although this is not the case.
- The Unofficial Oblivion Patch, version 3.0.1, addresses this issue. It adds trapdoors and ladders to allow access to the area, changes the slaughterfish to undead, bridges a chasm, and makes other significant fixes.
Exterior[edit]
- The exterior is located at coordinates: Tamriel 3, 26
- This location's map marker (M on map) is named Fingerbowl Cave (editor name FingerbowlCaveMapMarker). The entrance door is NNW of the marker, 40 feet away.
- 2 Wilderness Creatures (Forest variety) are near the entrance
- The following plants can be found near the entrance: 3 Fly Amanita plants, 2 Green Stain Cup plants, 2 Lavender plants, 17 Monkshood plants, 5 Primrose plants, and 1 Summer Bolete plant
Zone 1: Fingerbowl Cave[edit]
This zone is fairly extensive and complex, featuring many intersections. The first room is a large chamber with two ledges on opposite sides; an enemy patrols the ledge closer to the entrance. Try to proceed with stealth, taking out the first enemy before dispatching the two farther back. On the opposite ledge is an altar holding the Security Skill Book Advances in Lock Picking (F).
Take the stairs leading down into the crevasse between the ledges. The tunnel that exits the crevasse leads to the first intersection, the most significant in the zone. The path ahead to the north leads through a series of passages and small rooms to trapdoor C to Fingerbowl Cave - Servant Crypt. Only one room is slightly off the main path.
The path to the east from the intersection leads first to a room with trapdoor E to Fingerbowl Cave - Lord Crypt and another intersection. Head east through the tunnel in the southeast corner, as the tunnel in the northeast corner only leads to a Cave In trap (T). In the next large room, you are faced with yet another intersection: the northeast passage leads to trapdoor D to Fingerbowl Cave - Noble Crypt, while the southeast passage leads past a Cave In trap to a small room with an enemy and a minor loot chest.

- 1 door (at D) leads to the zone Fingerbowl Cave - Noble Crypt
- 1 door (at E) leads to the zone Fingerbowl Cave - Lord Crypt
Zone 2: Fingerbowl Cave - Servant Crypt[edit]
This zone is fairly straightforward. You enter from door C and immediately find yourself at an intersection. If you turn south, you will quickly find yourself in a very large chamber containing many stone coffins, the boss-level undead (A), and a boss coffin (B).
If you turn north, you will eventually arrive in a room filled with stacks of coffins, as well as a possible enemy and a zombie corpse. Of the many coffins, only five contain loot (green dots on map). Smaller rooms to the northwest and northeast contain more coffins and two more potential enemies, with only one coffin and one minor loot chest in each room holding any items.
Occupants:
- 1 boss-level Undead at location A on map
- 1-5 Undead Enemies (each 83% probability Undead, 17% Rat)
- 1-2 Nuisance Animals
Treasure:
- 1 boss-level Coffin (Undead variety) at location B on map
- 2 Chests 01
- 1 Chest 01 (locked)

Doors and Gates:
- There is one door (at C) in/out of this zone, leading to the zone Fingerbowl Cave
Zone 3: Fingerbowl Cave - Noble Crypt[edit]
Like the first zone, this area is also quite complex, with many winding passages and intersections. In the first room you enter from door D, you are immediately faced with a junction. The southern tunnel leads you through a series of passages and small rooms with up to three enemies; along the way are three minor loot chests.
The western tunnel brings you to the main section of the zone. A series of passages and small rooms lead you to a large chamber, where you will find yourself on a ledge. On a lower level are up to three enemies; try to take advantage of the high ground by taking them out while they are below you or trying to climb up.
In the next passage, beware of the Falling Logs trap (G), which is activated by the Tripwire at F. You may optionally use the trap to attack the enemies in the next room. The final chamber is quite large and contains up to four enemies; try to dispatch them one by one.
Occupants:
- 1-13 Necromancer Enemies (each 50% probability Necromancer, 50% Undead)
Treasure:
- 1 Chest 01
- 3 Chests 01 (2 locked)
- 1 Chest 02
- 3 Chests 03
- 1 Chest 04
- 1 Chest 04
- The following plants will always be found: 4 Cairn Bolete plants and 3 Wisp Stalk plants
Traps:
- 1 Falling Logs trap at location G on map
- 1 Tripwire trigger at F
Doors and Gates:
- There is one door (at D) in/out of this zone, leading to the zone Fingerbowl Cave
Zone 4: Fingerbowl Cave - Lord Crypt[edit]
This zone, which resembles a mine with its wooden supports, is quite small and relatively straightforward. Immediately after entering from door E, you will find yourself at a three-way intersection with a minor loot chest to the south. The northern passage is fitted with a Swinging Mace trap (F) triggered by a Pressure Plate (G). This passage leads to a room with two enemies and a minor loot chest.
The eastern passage has another Swinging Mace trap (also F), this time triggered by a Tripwire (H). The room beyond the trap also contains two enemies and a minor loot chest. Finally, the southern passage is trap-free, but a boss-level bones undead (A) guards a boss coffin (B) and a minor loot chest in the next room.
Occupants:
- 1 boss-level Bones Undead at location A on map
- 3 Undead Enemies (each 83% probability Undead, 17% Rat)
- 1 Nuisance Animal
Treasure:
- 1 boss-level Coffin (Undead variety) at location B on map
- 1 Chest 01
- 1 Chest 02 (locked)
- 1 Chest 03
- 1 Chest 03
- The following plants will always be found: 2 Cairn Bolete plants and 3 Wisp Stalk plants
Traps:
- 1 Pressure Plate trigger at location G on map
